proffwoodcare.ch CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE of oiled wooden floors

OILED PARQUET Oiled parquet is in fashion. Its natural appearance and character, with its silky matt sheen, enhance any room and create a warm, pleasant sensation underfoot. But that is not all. Oiled surfaces also offer practical advantages: they are exceedingly durable, resistant to dirt and breathable, besides being easy to clean and maintain. Pure quality of living. 2

KEEPING YOUR FLOORS BEAUTIFUL Proper cleaning and maintenance Conventional floor cleaning and maintenance products can damage wood. You should therefore use only original PROFF Woodcare products for your parquet floor. Avoid microfibre cloths Microfibre cloths are very popular for household cleaning tasks. However, they are a parquet floor s worst enemy, as they cause serious damage to its surface. Protect your floor from drying out Air humidity levels of at least 40 per cent are ideal for wood floors. Particularly in winter, when rooms are heated, air humidity is often lower. Humidifiers help keep the floor from drying out. Prevent scratches Felt gliders applied to the bottom of your furniture are a worthwhile investment. They prevent scratches in the wood which might otherwise be caused by moving around chairs, dressers or wardrobes. 3

CLEANING Durable and easy to maintain these are the features of an oiled parquet floor. Superficial dirt is easily removed with a vacuum cleaner or dry mop. The floor is then washed with water and Wood Floor Soap of PROFF Woodcare. Washing exploits the full potential of the special products. The coconut and soya oils contained in them regenerate surfaces and provide the wood with a protective coating. HOW IT S DONE 1 2 3 4 5 First, clean the floor with a vacuum cleaner or mop. This removes dust and superficial dirt. Mix the Wood Floor Soap of PROFF Woodcare with warm water. 1 decilitre soap concentrate is enough for 4 litres of warm water. Wash the floor with the warm soapy water using a cotton mop head. For best results, always rinse the mop with clean warm water after use. This prevents the collected dirt from being returned to the floor. Proper cleaning will give your floor a beautiful silky sheen. Tip: the soap solution is also suitable for use on natural stone and terracotta floors. 4

MAINTENANCE Proper maintenance is the key to preserving the sheen of your parquet floor over a long period of time. Besides regular cleaning with Wood Floor Soap OF PROFF Woodcare, every sixth time the wood should be treated with Oil Refresher of PROFF Woodcare. This product contains oils and a special balsam which ensure a surface with maximum resistance to dirt. Natural Oil Refresher is used on floors with a natural or coloured oil finish, and White Oil Refresher on floors with a white oil finish. Tip: larger areas can be treated quickly and effectively using a floor polisher. Ask your floor layer! HOW IT S DONE 1 2 3 4 5 First, clean the floor with a vacuum cleaner or mop. This removes dust and superficial dirt. Mix the PROFF Woodcare Oil Refresher with warm water. 1 decilitre refresher is enough for 4 litres of warm water. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE HOW OFTEN? The table below provides an overview of the recommended cleaning and maintenance intervals to ensure your wood floors preserve their original beauty and characteristics for many years to come. Attention: this schedule is merely a guideline. Intensity can vary according to the environment. LOW-TRAFFIC FLOORS: Bedroom and children s room CLEANING every 6 weeks MAINTENANCE every 6 months MEDIUM-TRAFFIC FLOORS: Corridor, office, living room, halls every 4 weeks every 3 months HIGH-TRAFFIC FLOORS: Kitchen, entrance, public buildings every 2 weeks monthly Please remember that oil-soaked cloths are liable to spontaneous combustion. As a precaution, wet the cloths with water after use and store them in an airtight container. 8

TESTED AND CERTIFIED PROFF Woodcare products undergo regular, comprehensive testing to ensure constant compliance with the most stringent environmental standards. In addition, they are certified by the following recognised national and international institutes: EN 71-3 Migration of metals (As, Hg, Se, Cr, Sb, Cd, Pb, Ba) from the sample was tested according to standard EN 71, part 3, 1995. No migration of the metals listed was observed beyond the detection limit (10 50 ppm). Accordingly, all products for use in living areas are suitable for toys. DIN 53 160 Tests were carried out in accordance with method B 82.10 of the official list of testing procedures pursuant to section 35 of the German Food Law (LMBG) (implementation of German standard DIN 53 160). The results of the test showed no visible discolouring to the test strips applied to the various wood coverings. Accordingly, the coatings are resistant to sweat and saliva. Minergie-Eco The labelled products comply with the exclusion criteria pursuant to Minergie-Eco. Products meeting these criteria represent high standards of environmental, working and living quality. Examples of this quality include pollutant-free interiors, a reduced environmental footprint and conservation of resources from beginning to end of the product s life cycle. VOC-Free VOC is a collective term for organic substances released into the air by solvent-based oxidation products, which in extreme cases can cause symptoms such as headaches. VOC-free products are demonstrably free of such substances. General importer Holzplatten AG Weberrütistrasse 10 8833 Samstagern 044 786 90 60 10
