Our company For 5 generations, Spiessens has aimed for quality and durability. Originally an expert in the development of farming machinery, Spiessens steadily evolved into the field of conveyers. Today, custom made machinery is our specialty. Over the years, with such experience and know-how, we evolved into a well known constructor of machinery with its own engineering. Silos & hoppers Possible applications are conveying, dosing, handling and storage of bulk goods. The filling and emptying process can be automated according to the product with the help of, among others redlers, screws, conveyors and pumps. In order to obtain a good product flow, it is possible to insert a stirring mechanism, electrical vibrators, pneumatic beaters or a double wall in order to cool or heat the product. Possible extras are, among others, level mesuring, inspection windows or weighing systems.
Crate turners The crate turner is used to tip crates, wedged into the machine, so the content is emptied into a bin, on a conveyor belt, etc. The crate turner is available for fixed and variable crate heights and widths.
Conveyors The mobile conveyor can easily be moved, is adjustable in height and/or can be made telescopic. A truss frame is a sturdy, yet light, constrsuction used to cover great distances, with roller support. It is used for mobile and static applications. With a profit frame large structures are built which can move large tonnages over long distances. This type is mainly used for static applications.
Screws The transporter screw comes in different types: the full screw, the mixer and the shaftless screw. A transporter screw can even be used at a slope. With a distribution screw it is possible to switch between different production lines or separate different product flows.
Redlers With a redler, we use cross bars attached to 1 or 2 chains. This way the product is transported across a plate and allows a good distribution between different exits. It also prevents product loss underneath the redler. The redler can also be placed at an angle.
Clod separators Clod and stones can be separated from the product in a dry way by the difference in bounce behaviour on a radially fixed roll.
Cleaners and dirt removers Dirt is removed from potatoes through rolls. With these machines, no water is used. The dirt is removed by the products rubbing together.
Sorting and calibrating To process different products it is necessary to grade and sort the them by size, or remove small pieces.
Filter drums and sand catchers Internal filter drums transport the dirt to the end of a pipe where it is separated from the product. External filter drums scrape off the solid parts which then end in a crate or on a transporting system. The sand carried by the water is deposited on the bottom of the sand catcher and can then be transported away.
Destoners The first type is a cyclone fed with a large water flow. The water pressure and centrifugal force through the turning wheel make the heavier elements fall down in the cone, and allow the lighter elements to pass through. The second type consists in two conveyer belts, lined up and with a set distance between them. The water flow enables the lighter products to cross this distance, while the heavy products fall between the belts.
Washers We can wash bulk goods in a rotating drum that is either directly or indirectly driven. By turning the drum, we increase the friction between the different products inside, thus we clean them without using huge amounts of water.
Combination destoner-washer
Salt bath By adding salt to the water, you can differentiate between good potatoes which sink, the bad, glass potatoes which float and foreign materials.
Sorting conveyors This is a conveyor where workers can intercept bad products and dispose of them through waste chutes.
Steam pealer and brushing installation First the portion is weighed, then the product is transported to a vat with changing pressure stats which removes the product peal. Finally the remaining peal flakes are brushed off and the product continues in the processing line.
Vibrator By shaking, the vegetables are divided according to size or excess water is shaken off.
Blanching equipment Used for blanching, among others, vegetables, pastas and rice. This can be a continuous process. The time the product spends in the blancher can be adjusted with frequency control.
Multihead weighers In a multhead weigher, different portions are captured in several small hoppers. The computer calculates the ideal wheight combination of product in the hoppers to attain the demanded weight as closely as possible. This is especially expedient with products that are hardly divisible, where a lot of product is given away without this combination weigher. The multihead weigher can be divided into four separate production zones. Consequently, the same weigher can operate as an individual weighing unit for different products or can be used to make exact mixtures of chosen goods.

Even more, we can start from the very beginning and even help you with the dimensioning of your building. Afterwards we supply you with a document, complete with CEcertificates, parts list, etc. Both the mechanical and electrical aspects of an installation can be engineered by us: design, calculation of capacity, layout, project management, execution, control and training, everything under the same roof.
