CONSUMER SARETY INSTRUCTIONS Read this manual before installing and operating this appliance. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electrical shock, property damage, personal injury, and will void the warranty. Do not store or use gasoline, or any other flammable liquids and vapors, in the vicinity of this appliance. Keep this manual for future reference. PET OWNER WARNING The health of some small pets, including birds, are extremely sensitive to the fumes produced during the first time use of this appliance. These fumes are not harmful to humans, but we recommend that you do not use this heater around birds and small pets during its initial use until the manufacturing corrosion coatings have burned off. SAFETY INFORMATION 1. This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let skin touch hot surfaces. If provided, use handles when moving the heater. Keep all combustible materials such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, curtains, and all other textiles at least 3-feet from the front of the heater. 2. Use extreme caution when using the heater near children, elderly, and pets. Never leave the heater unattended when in use. 3. Always unplug the heater when not in use. 4. Do not operate the heater if it has a damaged cord or plug, malfunctions, or has been dropped or damaged. Return heater to authorized facility for examination for electrical or mechanical adjustments or repairs. 5. Do not use heater outdoors. 6. This heater is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas, or any location where it can be exposed to water. Always use in a dry location. 7. Do not run the power cord under any carpeting. Do not cover power cord with throw rugs, runners, or any kind of floor covering textile. Keep the power cord away from any traffic areas where it could be tripped over. 8. To disconnect the heater, turn all controls to the OFF position, then remove plug from the outlet. 9. Connect ONLY to properly grounded outlets. 10. Do not insert or allow any foreign objects to enter the ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electrical shock or fire, as well as damaging the heater. 11. Too prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust at any time. Never use the heater on a soft surface, such as a bed, where openings may become obstructed. 12. This heater has hot and potentially sparking parts inside. Do not use in areas where gasoline, paint, or any flammable liquids are used or stored. 13. Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electrical shock, and injury. 2

14. Always plug heaters directly into a wall outlet. Never use with an extension cord or relocatable power tab (outlet/power strip) 15. This electrical fireplace is not designed for zero clearance wall and/or cabinet/millwork installations. Accessibility for servicing and maintenance must be possible without disturbing building structures and/or cabinet millwork finishes. USER INSTRUCTIONS 1. Any repairs to this unit must be carried out by a qualified and approved service person only. 2. Under no circumstance should this unit be modified. Parts having to be removed for servicing must be replaced with original parts supplied by the manufacture only. 3. This heater can be cleaned with a damp cloth using water only. Always unplug heater before cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners on this heater. LOCATION OF YOUR FIREPLACE When choosing a location for your new electric fireplace, ensure the general instructions for placement are followed. Also, for the best effect, install the fireplace out of direct sunlight. It is safe to set the fireplace insert close to non-combustibles. MANTEL INSTALLATION Please refer to the detailed instructions that came with the mantel you purchased. ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS A 15-amp, 120-volt, 60-hz circuit with a properly grounded outlet is required to operate this heater. Preferably, the fireplace insert will be on a dedicated circuit as other appliances on the same circuit may cause the circuit breaker to trip or blow a fuse when the heater is in operation. This unit comes with a standard 6-foot long 3-wire cord, exiting out the back of the fireplace insert. Plan the installation to avoid the use of an extension cord. If an extension cord must be used, it must be a minimum 14-ga, 3-wire with a grounding-type plug and connector, and rated not less than 1875- watts. The extension cord shall not be more than 20-feet in length. CAUTION There are no serviceable parts inside (except for the lightbulbs). PRE-INSTALLATION To avoid scratching the finish, assemble the product on a soft, non-abrasive surface, such as carpet or cardboard. Assembly of this product may require more than one person. 3

INSTALLATION Attach top electric fireplace trim piece with the screws provided. Please refer to the detailed instructions that came with the manual that you purchased. OPERATION The electric fireplace ON/OFF switch must be switched to ON before any of the control functions will operate. The main switch does not have to be turned off when the electric fireplace is not being used for brief time periods. If, however, you are not planning to use the electric fireplace for extended periods of time, we recommend the main power ON/OFF be switched off. This electric fireplace insert features convenient separate controls for the flame effect and heat control. This feature allows you to operate the unit in two different ways. 1.) as a full featured fireplace insert with both flame effect and heater operating simultaneously and 2.) as a visual effect with flame affect only. NOTE: This electric fireplace insert is not designed to operate in heat mode without a flame effect. ELECTRIC FIREPLACE CONTROLS MANUAL CONTROLS The digital manual controls are easily accessible on the top right of the console. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. GLASS INSTRUCTIONS 1. Under no circumstances should this product be operated with a broken or chipped glass panel. 2. Do not strike or slam the glass. 3. Do not use abrasive cleaners to clean the glass. Make sure the glass is cool to the touch. 4. This product uses tempered glass. Replacement of the glass supplied by the manufacturer should be done by qualified/authorized personnel only. MAINTENANCE OF MOTORS 1. Always disconnect the unit from the main power supply and allow it to cool before any servicing operation. 2. The motors used on the fan heater and flame blower are pre-lubricated for extended bearing life and require no further lubrication. However, periodic cleaning/vacuuming of the unit around the air intake and exhaust, as well as the fan heater, is recommended. For heavy blows alternating cold and warm air, check the fan for free movement and for debris restricting air flow. If the fan does not move freely, the unit needs to be turned off and the fan replaced in order to prevent further damage of the unit. REPLACING THE LIGHTBULBS The electric fireplace insert uses two (2) LED lightbulbs. The lightbulbs are located at the bottom of the unit. You can change the lightbulbs from the back of the electric fireplace. For your convenience, if one of the lightbulbs burns out, it may be easier to replace all of the lightbulbs at the same time. 1. Turn the electric fireplace master power to the off position. 2. Let the electric fireplace insert cool completely before changing lightbulbs. 3. Pull the mantel away from the wall so you can get in behind the electric fireplace. 4. Remove the screws from the panel using a philips or flathead screwdriver. 5. Carefully remove the lightbulb. This may require holding the light socket with one hand while unscrewing the lightbulb with the other hand. 6. Install the new lightbulbs. 7. Insert and tighten the screws into the panel that were removed in step 4. 8. Return your mantel to its original position. BATTERY REPLACEMENT Please dispose of the remote s used battery per municipal or provincial/state law. 5

CARE AND CLEANING 1. Always turn the heater off and unplug the power cord from the outlet before cleaning. 2. Cleaning of the control panel, located in the upper right-hand corner of the electric fireplace, is to be done only using a soft cloth, slightly dampened in water (if needed, a small amount of dish soap can be added to the water) and dried using a clean dry cloth. Cleaning of the screen diffuser is to be done using only water and a lint-free cloth. Do NOT use any abrasive cleaners or textiles on the controls or the diffusing screen.
