Installation and Operating Instructions WaterQuick Pro II Advanced - Hot Water Circulation Pump WaterQuick Pro II Advanced Step 1. Choose the appropriate place to install the pump and Flow Monitor: WaterQuick Pro II Advanced can be installed in several different configurations. The circulation pump and Flow Monitor can be mounted in either the cold-water supply line to the water heater (right side) or in the hot water supply line going out of the water heater into the house (left side). Note: It is important that you take into consideration how the pump will be supported and where there is access to an electrical outlet. Cold Water Line: If you install the circulation pump and Flow Monitor in the cold-water line it must be located in the pipe that is the sole supply of water for the water heater. If it supplies water to any fixture it will lead to false activation of the pumping system. Hot Water Line: The pump and Flow Monitor can be installed in the hot water line that comes out of top of the water heater and goes into the house. It does not need to be located next to the water heater, but it needs to be located before the first hot water lateral. The volute of the pump (silver part) can be installed in either a vertical or horizontal orientation. However, the can (green part) must be installed in a horizontal orientation.

The location of the pump s black electrical box can be changed by unscrewing the 4 hex head bolts (circled in picture below) that hold the can and volute together and rotating the can as necessary. However, the black electrical box with the 3- speed switch does not need to be on top. Pump Orientation If the pump is installed horizontally make sure the label is either facing our or facing the wall as shown in the picture above. Step 2. Turn off water heater: Electric - turn off power by either unplugging the water heater or shutting off the appropriate breaker. Gas, propane or heating oil - turn off water heater and make sure the pilot light is turned off. Step 3. Turn off water: Turn off the water to the water heater. In most cases there is a valve located above the water heater on the cold-water supply line. Step 4. Drain the hot water lines: Turn on any hot water faucet in the house and let it run until the water stops flowing. Leave the faucet on for the duration of the installation. Drain remaining hot water using the hot water spigot on the water heater. Note: If water continues to flow, check to make sure that the water has been completely turned off. If the valve does not shut off the water flow completely turn off the valve supplying water to the house or at the water meter.

Step 5. Disconnect hot water line: Unscrew the hot water supply line at the hot water discharge (typically the left supply line). Note: The pump and Flow Monitor can be installed on either the coldwater pipe going into the water heater or the hot water pipe going out of the water heater. Make sure that the arrow on the pump and the arrow on the Flow Monitor are pointing in the direction of flow (see picture below). Hot Water Line Installation Go to Step 6 Cold Water Line Installation Go to Step 9 Cold Water Line Installation Step 6. Install a 3/4" FIP x FIP fitting (coupling, union or dielectric union - available at any home improvement store): Wrap Teflon tape or apply pipe dope to male hot water discharge pipe. Carefully thread the 3/4" fitting onto the hot water discharge pipe coming out of the water heater. Brass Coupling Brass Union Dielectric Union

Step 7. Install the Flow Monitor: Wrap Teflon tape and/or apply pipe dope to the male threads of the Flow Monitor. Install the Flow Monitor directly into the 3/4" fitting making sure the arrow is pointing down (the direction of water flow). Note: The Flow Monitor will not work properly if the arrow is pointing up. Cold Water Installation Step 8. Install the Pump: Make sure the gasket is inserted in the female end of the Flow Monitor. Carefully thread the pump into the Flow Monitor with the arrow pointing down (the direction of water flow). Note: Do not over tighten. Screw hot water supply line onto the pump. Make sure that a hot water faucet is turned on in the house and then slowly turn the water back on to the water heater. Check for leaks and repair as necessary. Leave the water running until all the air has been purged from the water pipes. Turn off the faucet. Go to Step 12

Hot Water Line Installation Step 9. Install a 3/4" FIP x FIP fitting (coupling, union or dielectric union available at any home improvement store): Wrap Teflon tape or apply pipe dope to male hot water discharge pipe. Carefully thread the 3/4" fitting onto the hot water discharge pipe coming out of the water heater. Brass Coupling Brass Union Dielectric Union Step 10. Install the pump: Wrap Teflon tape or apply pipe dope to the male threads on the inlet side of the pump. Install the pump directly into the 3/4" fitting making sure the arrow is pointing up (the direction of water flow). Hot Water Installation Note: The pump will not work properly if the arrow is pointing down.

Step 11. Reconnect hot water supply line and turn on water: Screw hot water supply line onto the pump Flow Monitor. Make sure that a hot water faucet is turned on in the house and then slowly turn the water back on to the water heater. Check for leaks and repair as necessary. Leave the water running until all the air has been purged from the water pipes. Turn off the faucet. Step 12. Connect the pump and the Flow Monitor: There are 2 switches that control the speed of the pump and how it works. The first switch is a rocker switch located in the pump power cord and contains the connection box that the Flow Monitor wire connects into. There are 2 different styles as shown below: Move, Off and Auto ( Auto is the correct position) or I Bar, O and II bars ( II bars is the correct position) Connect the wire from the Flow Monitor to the connector in the electrical wire from the pump. Snap the switch into the Auto or II bars position. Set pump switch to 3 for highest speed.

Step 13. Plug the pump in: Plug the pump into a properly grounded 110 vac outlet. Note: Route the cord away from any vents on gas, propane or oil fired water heaters. Step 14. Test pump operation: Turn on any hot water faucet in the house to start the pump. Turning off the faucet will stop the pump (assuming the Advanced Bridge Valve has not been installed yet). Note: If the Advanced Bridge Valve has been installed the pump will continue to run until 95 F water reaches the sink where the Advanced Bridge Valve is installed. The temperature sensor in the Advanced Bridge Valve will shut off and the water will stop flowing (unless a hot water faucet is open). Advanced Bridge Valve Installation Location: The Advanced Bridge Valve should be installed under the kitchen or bathroom sink that is the farthest fixture from the water heater. Branched plumbing systems will need an Advanced Bridge Valve at the end of each line. Additional Advanced Bridge Valves are available at www.fasterhotwater.com. Installation: 1. Turn off water to the house and drain the water from the pipes. 2. Turn off both the hot and cold angle stops (valves) below the sink. 3. Disconnect existing hot and cold-water supply lines from the angle stops and replace angle stops with custom angle stops (see below). 4. Attach new stainless steel advanced 1/2" x 1/2" supply lines to angle stops. Note: Do not use Teflon tape or pipe dope on Advanced Bridge Valve connections. 5. Attach other end of advanced supply lines to the appropriate "Cold Water In" and "Hot Water In" ports of the Advanced Bridge Valve. Tighten finger tight plus a quarter turn with a wrench.

Do not over tighten. 6. Attach existing faucet supply lines to the appropriate "Cold Water Out" and "Hot Water Out" ports of the Advanced Bridge Valve (if the existing supply lines are 3/8, use the 1/2" x 3/8 adapters). Tighten finger tight plus a quarter turn with a wrench. Do not over tighten. 7. Attach other end of standard supply lines to the faucet. Tighten finger tight plus a quarter turn with a wrench. Do not over tighten. 8. Leave angle stops in the off position and turn the house water back on and check for leaks. 9. Open both the hot water and cold-water angle stops and check for leaks. 10. Turn on water: Make sure that a hot water faucet is turned on in the house and then slowly turn the water back on to the water heater. Check for leaks and repair as necessary. Leave the water running until all the air has been purged from the water pipes. Turn off the faucet.

Advanced Bridge Valve Operation The following steps will determine if the Advanced Bridge Valve is operating correctly. 1. Close the cold-water angle stop (valve) below the sink where the Advanced Bridge Valve is located. 2. Open the cold-water faucet. 3. Water should flow from the faucet until warm water (95 F) reaches the Advanced Bridge Valve. The flow should gradually decrease until no water is coming from the faucet at which time the Advanced Bridge Valve has closed. Safety Warning Warning: Risk of electrical shock. This pump is supplied with a grounding conductor. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, be certain that it is connected only to a properly grounded grounding type receptacle. The safe operation of this pump requires that I be grounded in accordance with the national Electrical Code and local government regulations. Operating Instructions To activate the WaterQuick Pro II Advanced hot water circulation system, simply turn on any hot water faucet in the house and quickly turn it off. This will start the pump and within a few seconds you will have hot water everywhere in your home. The amount of time that you wait varies from home to home and is dependent on how far the sink is from the water heater, the size of your water pipes and how many turns there are in the water pipes.
