The weather has been mostly dry with moderate temperatures. I don't know about you, but I'll take any 50 degree day I can get in January and February! We have lots of things to tell you about. First, the State of Oklahoma has adopted the 2009 International Residential Codes. There are a few changes from the 2003 IRC code book to the 2009 code book that will affect your residential building practices. For instance, 1/2" x 8" anchor bolts no longer meets code. They must be at least 1/2" x 10". There are some changes to garage door headers, and more. Feel free to drop by to look at the 2009 IRC book at the store, or call one of our outside salesmen for more information. The 2009 International Building Code for commercial structures is being passed through the various state committees now. Sincerely, M&M Lumber 918-627-1926 Market Report: Market Update: Gypsum: So far the January 1 price increase has stayed in the marketplace. The market status is steady. Many drywall manufactures are really pushing their light weight drywall. Roofing: Roofing prices remain steady. Owens Corning has announced a price increase for March 1. Certainteed's plant in Norwood, MA has been on strike. Tamko has suspended production of Lamarite Slate and Shake. Tulsa's Tamko warehouse has reduced much of their in-stock inventory. Lead times are quick, but inventory has been cut back. Rebar: The rebar market is expected to be firm through March. The scrap market is firm and prices are expected to rise just a bit in March. Lumber: Overall, the lumber market is flat. Rumors of China doing some buying have pushed futures to move a little. Look for prices to remain firm for a couple of weeks at least. Plywood: OSB sales are soft and prices have remained about the same. Pine plywood mills are relatively quiet and mill order files have shrunk a bit. 6-26-12 Primary Election Day 10-12-12 Registration Deadline for General vote 11-6-12 General Election Day - You vote for the next President of the United States If voting is important to you, make sure you get yourself registered. Once you are registered, you do not have to register again. If you move from one neighborhood to another, you can move your voting location to be more convenient to vote, but you do not have to reregister. Also remember that as of a year or so ago, when you do go to vote, you must have a valid ID with you. Tip of the Month: How do Hole Saws work? What does a mandrel do? Design values for all other grades and sizes of visually graded Southern Pine remain the same, pending results of testing scheduled for completion later in 2012. Other price increases include Fluidmaster (plumbing) April 1 of 5%, plastic pipe and plastic pipe fittings from 3-4%, For years, your strongest softwood lumber option for

Jack Links Beef Jerky (yum-yum) has announced a price increase effective 3/4/12 due to rising cost of raw materials, packaging and transportation. T-Post suppliers have announced a 20 cent per post increase effectice February 24. Lumber Yard News: What is happening around M&M Lumber? New Items: -Need some pink crayons to mark things on the jobsite? Look no further. If pink is your thing, you can add them to your coloring box and mark till you can't mark no more. -Need a level, a straight edge and a ruler? Check out the 4' 2-vial Poly level with an edge ruler. This is a Great Neck product located up with the other straight edge products. Light weight but strong. -We have added into stock a 5000 count box of Arrow Staples in the 1/2" and 3/8" staples. These are for the T-50 staple gun just like the 1250 count package, but now with more. Can you say "super-size"? -KR Tools, which is an import tool company that makes snips, screwdrivers, trowels, and more has been discontinued from our main hardware warehouse. As we run out of these various items we bought from KR, we will replace them with a 'like' item from another vendor. As of now, we will replace the trowels with Marshalltown. Marshalltown has a lower end product line of items than what we are currently stocking that will be able to compete with the KR price point. We will still have the higher end items for the professional. Great Neck Tools will be replacing many of the hand tool items once manufactured by KR. several key design tests has been Southern pine. But on June 1, 2012 three design values will drop for Souther pine 2x4s that are visually graded at # 2 and below which the downgrade will move southern pine from the strongest to the weakest of species on those values. Southern Pine Design Values How will the downgrade effect Southern Pine you? If using 2x4 yellow pine, you will need to go up a size, go up a grade, decrease your spacing, or use a different species to name a few. We will update as we know more about other testing in progress for other sizes and grades of lumber. Just know after June 1, 2012 you will have to reference different span charts for Southern pine 2x4 # 2 and lower lumber. Feedback Are there items that you need that we don't stock? Page 4 of 6 We recently had Flat Stanley here visiting from San Diego, CA. Flat Stanley is a kid that was squashed in his classroom when a chalkboard fell on him. Since he is flat, he is able to jump in an envelope and go visit...sending information back to his classroom - teaching the kids geography! If you haven't 'Liked' M&M Lumber on our Facebook page, you have missed some of Flat Stanley's adventures... Did you know M&M Lumber is FSC Certified? Flat Stanley was helping to check in our weekly hardware truck and count nails in the nail bin. QR Scanner Flat Stanley was being shown how a forklift works, and how helpful they are in loading material on and off of trucks. They realized that M&M Lumber has some really great forklift operators!!

He saw some of the jobs that M&M Lumber is helping to supply, see how our delivery trucks work, and meet some of the nice contractors that we do business with.
