Significant Incident Summary Wednesday, August 31 to Thursday, September 01 at 6am 08/31/2016 Search and Rescue SE and Caribbean Division AL Alabama Region A water search and rescue has taken place. Volunteers are providing canteening services. DMH and spiritual care are on standby. 08/31/2016 Single-Family Fire SE and Caribbean Division FL Central Florida Region A single family fire has resulted in a fatality. DAT is responding at medical facility. 08/31/2016 Single-Family Fire North Central Division KS Kansas Nebraska SW Iowa Region Coffeyville, Kansas authorities say a person died in a house fire Wednesday morning. Firefighters were called to the home in the 300 block of West 3rd Street at around 7:30 a.m. As they arrived, firefighters said they could see fire through a bedroom window. Fire Chief James Grimmett told KGGF Red Cross was on the scene. Casework provided. 08/31/2016 Multi-Family Fire North Central Division MN Minnesota Region Two floors of an apartment building with an elderly population were evacuated due to a fire in Nobles on Wednesday. About 6 people were sent to the hospital. Red Cross will provided assistance as needed. 08/31/2016 Transportation Incident Pacific Division AK ARC of Alaska Region There was mid-air collision between RAVN (commericial airline) and a private plane near Russian Mission, Alaska. NTSB confirmed 6 fatalities and is sending investigators and a Transportation Disaster Assistance staff member to Alaska. We were contacted simultaneously by RAVN and NTSB. RAVN requested emotional support for family and employees at the Kenai Station and requested emotional support in Anchorage at the Operations Center. We are in the process of coordinating our volunteer and partner resources. 08/31/2016 Forest Fire Pacific Division CA Desert to the Sea Region Wildfire started at approximately 0500 hours 8/31/16. Slow moving fire up to 125 acres by 1200. Only homes in sparsely populated area are mountain cabins. Currently no homes threatened. Organizing and deploying shelter team Establishing Reception & Care Center at: Silverado Community Center: 27641 Silverado Canyon Rd, Silverado, CA Canteen deployed to Reception & Care Center to provide support Orange County OA EOC staffed by Red Cross government liaison SOURCES: Initial Incident Reports (IIRs) submitted by the Regions for significant Red Cross responses. Triggers for an IIR are evacuation / displacement, fatality, multiple serious injuries, significant media coverage, shelter open / standby, EOC open / standby, civil disturbance / terrorism, transportation incident, disease outbreak, divisional mutual aid, cost to exceed $10,000, staff / volunteer injured, or facility damage.
