A. PROJECT HARDWARE A.1 PGC STRUCTURE Plant Growth Chamber (PGC) Genesis Technologies, India are built with high quality Puff materials laminated with SS316 inner and GI on outer. Dimension of PGC: 14ft (Length) x6ft (Width) x7ft (Height); Compartment: Two (Equal Working Space) Size of Each Compartment: 7ft (Length) x6ft (Width) x7ft (Height); Those compartments are equipped with carbon di-oxide, Humidity and temperature monitoring& control with PLC- HMI integration technology. A.2 Infrared (IR) Heater Heaters FSR SERIES, ELSTINE, GERMANY are final control element(fce) which received control signal from controller operated with PLC system. Ceramic IR heater have ability to increase 10 C temperature. Different temperature level can be achieved correspondent to set temperature. Ceramic IR heater are designed with a stainless steel reflector and operated on 240V and 1kva capacity. Heater panel is consoled with independent IR heater connected in parallel. It has life up to 4000hr with reasonably good thermal response. Each of heater has IR filament which gives the heating effect controlled by HMI operation. A.3 Ultrasonic Humidifier An Ultrasonic humidifier Genesis Technologies, India is a device that increases humidity (moisture) in a PGC. It uses a ceramic diaphragm vibrating at an ultrasonic frequency to create water droplets that silently exit the humidifier in the form of cool fog. The mist gets forced out by a tiny fan. Ultrasonic humidifiers use a piezoelectric transducer to create a high frequency mechanical oscillation in a film of water. This forms an extremely fine mist of droplets about one micron in diameter that is quickly evaporated into the air flow. A.4 Air Conditioner (AC) Refrigerant used in AC Voltas transfer the heat from the air inside PGC to the outside air. The AC unit has three key parts. These are the compressor, the condenser, and the evaporator. It is capable to reduce temperature up to 14 o C. A.5 CO2 Distribution CO2 is distributed through a controlled unit consist of CO2 manifold, Solenoid valve, diaphragm motor with filter and flow meter, those all are controlled by PLC-HMI logic control program. A.6 Light Arrangement White LED and RGB led light is installed inside the system to maintain optimum intensity of light. Those light is used for photosynthetic reaction that is required by plants inside of PGC. UV light is also installed for disinfect the inside PGC area. UV is controlled by RTC

based timer. B. MONITORING SYSTEM B.1 Humidity& Temperature Transmitter Humidity Sensor MAX DETECT, USA measurement of humidity in the range of 0-100% RH. It comes with outstanding accuracy for Humidity. Humidity sensors relying on this principle consists of a hygroscopic dielectric material sandwiched between a pair of electrodes forming a small capacitor. Most capacitive sensors use a plastic or polymer as the dielectric material, with a typical dielectric constant ranging from 2 to 15. In absence of moisture, the dielectric constant of the hygroscopic dielectric material and the sensor geometry determine the value of capacitance. At normal room temperature, the dielectric constant of water vapour has a value of about 80, a value much larger than the constant of the sensor dielectric material. Therefore, absorption of water vapour by the sensor results in an increase in sensor capacitance. Temperature is measured by LM35 series sensor that are precision integrated-circuit temperature devices with an output voltage linearly-proportional to the Centigrade temperature. B.2 CO2 Monitor CO2 monitor TOPAC, USA working dual beam NDIR (Non-Dispersive-Infrared) technology used to measure CO2 concentration. Three different LED display show the current Indoor Air Quality situation. Linear analog output (0~10V Voltage, 4~20mACurrent) and Relay output based on CO2 Level. Reliable Sensor provides long-term calibration stability. The visual and audible alarm function can be Adjustable by user. B.3 Human Machine Interface (HMI) Human Machine Interface (HMI) Delta Inc., also referred to as User Interface, Operator Panel or Terminal, provides a means of controlling, monitoring, managing and/ or visualizing device processes. An example is an operator panel which allows an industrial machine operator to interact with a machine in a graphical, visual way. C. Control System C.1 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Delta Inc., is an industrial computer control system that continuously monitors the state of input devices and makes decisions based upon a custom program to control the state of output devices. C.2 Relay and Contactors A relay SHAVISION, INDIA is an electrically operated switch. Many relays use an electromagnet to mechanically operate a switch, but other operating principles are also used relays. Relays are used where it is necessary to control a circuit by a separate low-power signal, or where several circuits must be controlled by one signal. A contactor L&T, INDIA is an electrically controlled switch used for switching an electrical power circuit, similar to a relay except with higher current ratings. A contactor is controlled by a circuit which has a much lower power level than the switched circuit. Contactors come in many forms with varying capacities and features. It works on electromagnetic field principle.
