Old Enton Old Enton is believed to date back to the 18th Century with further additions more recently. The façade displays the classic Georgian characteristics and proportions with its square paned sash windows, red brick elevations and a pediment porch. Upon entering is the light and spacious reception hall, which retains the original elegant main staircase with hardwood handrail and the beautifully polished oak floor. Doors lead off to the study and the sitting room. The stylish double aspect drawing room includes an original marble fireplace, decorative ceiling cornice and deep bay window with lovely southerly views of the gardens. The richly decorated dining room, that also includes an original fireplace, is currently arranged as a billiard room. Beyond the main reception hall, an inner hall and cosy family room lead to a modern conservatory with doors to the terrace and stunning landscaped garden. The spacious kitchen features a four-oven Aga and a comprehensive range of bespoke furniture. This includes a central workstation and integrated appliances under granite surfaces. An open arch leads to a double aspect breakfast or family dining room. Adjacent to the rear kitchen door there is a generous laundry/boot room with a good range of storage and space for appliances. The master bedroom suite offers double aspect views across the stunning gardens and the room is flooded with natural light. There are two dressing rooms and a spacious bath and shower room. There are six further bedrooms all located across the first floor, three of these bedrooms, have en suite bathrooms and in addition there is also a family bathroom.

Outside Old Enton is approached from the lane via automatic wrought iron gates. These open onto a gravelled drive that sweeps past banks of rhododendrons, azaleas and heather beds to arrive in front of the house with the spacious parking area and turning circle around a magnificent American Oak. The drive continues to garages, the party barn, stable cottage, further parking areas and an exit gate. The grounds at Old Enton are a particular feature of this property and comprise a number of very different but adjoining areas. The formal gardens are a delight to the eye being imaginatively planted for year-round colour and interest. Well-maintained level lawns extend away from the house and sun terrace, and are bordered by a superb variety of shrub and flower beds. Meticulously trimmed hedges divide the gardens into a range of different spaces with creative planting, statuary, a water feature, a wisteriaclad pergola, small orchard and a wide variety of specimen trees and shrubs. To the western side of the formal garden in a delightfully private and secluded corner, there is an outdoor swimming pool with an extensive paved surround and pool house. A path leads a short distance from here to the tennis court.

Outbuildings To the north of the main house and beside the second access drive, a collection of period outbuildings include garaging for up to six cars, workshop, storage and a period barn. The barn is of particular interest. Having been superbly restored as a party barn it provides the ideal venue for teenage gatherings or family celebrations. The barn comprises two linked rooms with the main room having french doors opening onto a small patio, plus two further rooms arranged as a gymnasium and a kitchenette. There are also stairs up to a mezzanine level currently arranged as a cinema room and an adjacent bathroom. Stable Cottage is attached and forms part of the main barn and garage building. It has two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. The sitting room/dining room, kitchen and utility room are downstairs along with the WC. Keepers Lodge is located down a quiet track towards the rear of the land, and is a spacious two bedroom house with it s own private garden.
Footpaths Two footpaths cross the land but neither are close to the house or gardens. Please refer to the site plan opposite. There are three bridle ways nearby one of which adjoins the land to the south. Paddocks Much of the remaining estate is laid down to grassland and divided into a number of fenced paddocks. Depending on the intended use, these areas can be relatively low-maintenance requiring just an annual mowing. At present the land is used by a local farmer for sheep grazing. This farmer has expressed an interest to continue if the new owner wished. Alternatively it would be an easy matter for a knowledgeable owner to bring them into equestrian use. Woodland and Lakes The remaining land comprises mixed woodland, some of which is recorded as ancient woodland and two lakes. Among the interesting trees in the grounds are a pair of ancient yews that are thought to be as much as 2000 years old. At present the woodland, lakes and pasture are maintained in a natural state, requiring minimal attention in order to provide habitat for a variety of wildlife, which it does very successfully. In all about 90 acres (36 ha).
