WARNING: Before first use, charge your portable vacuum cleaner for at least 24 hours. Make sure that the on/off switch is turned to the OFF position before charging, otherwise the portable vacuum cleaner will not charge. NOTE: The red charging light and green ready light will illuminate when the portable vacuum is turned off but is charging. Follow these steps when mounting the base: 1. Pick a convenient position within 1m of an electrical outlet. If the charging base will be mounted closer to an outlet, wrap any excess cord on the side of the charging base. 2. Place the charging base against the wall in the desired location and mark the centre of one of the holes. 3. Drill a 5mm diameter hole through the centre of the hole. Push a plastic wall anchor into the drilled hole. 4. Insert one of the included screws and turn it until the screw head is 3mm above the wall surface. 5. Re-check the hole alignment, then drill the second hole and install the other plastic wall anchor and screw as in steps 3-4. 6. Slide the charging base into place (See Fig. 2). To Wall Mount the Portable Vacuum Cleaner Charging Base The charging base can be mounted vertically or placed on a horizontal surface such as a counter or shelf (See Fig. 1). Picking Up Dry Debris Use your vacuum cleaner for picking up dirt, dust, food crumbs, etc. from counters, bare floors, rugs, car interiors, upholstered furniture, etc. After dry pickups, empty and clean the canister, filter and filter cover before picking up liquid or wet spills. Fig. 5 The crevice tool is ideal for tight places such as between car seats, in corners, skirting boards etc. A brush tool attachment is also included. Simply attach to the end of the crevice tool (See Fig. 6). Picking Up Liquids Or Wet Debris 1. For liquid pickups, do not fill the canister beyond the end of the inlet tube. If there is any liquid in the canister, hold the canister nozzle down to avoid leakage. Tipping the canister nozzle up may cause the liquid to enter the fan area. 2. After picking up perishable spills (eg. milk, juice, etc.), empty the vacuum cleaner s canister, filter and filter cover immediately and thoroughly clean to prevent mould and mildew from forming. Allow to dry thoroughly. Fig. 6 Operating the Portable Vacuum Cleaner Remove the vacuum cleaner from the charging base and slide the On/ Off switch to the ON position to commence cleaning tasks. Slide the On/Off switch to the OFF position between cleaning tasks to conserve power. NOTE: The Portable Vacuum Canister should be emptied and cleaned before placed on the charging base. 9 KHV250GRY_IB_B14.indd 9

Vacuum shampoo and spill residue, then proceed to step 3. For water soluble spills, dampen the spill area using a spray bottle of cold, clean water. Be careful not to saturate the carpet. 3. Work water into the nap of the carpet. 4. Vacuum water and spill residue. 5. Repeat the above procedure if necessary. 6. Cover the cleaned spill area with several layers of paper towel or a cloth towel. Press on the towels several times to soak up the moisture. Brush up the nap of the carpet. Upholstery Clean Ups 1. Immediately vacuum as much of the spill as possible. 2. Follow your furniture manufacturer s instructions for spot cleaning upholstery. To empty/clean these parts, please follow these steps: 1. Then reinsert filter and filter cover into the canister and reattach the canister to the handle/housing (See Fig. 9). Fig. 9 Care, Cleaning and Storage Always remove the Portable Vacuum Cleaner from the charing base or disconnect from charger before cleaning. Always unplug the charger from the power point before cleaning the charger and charging base. Always switch the Portable Vacuum Cleaner off prior to cleaning the canister, filter and filter cover.
