k Center of Competence Refrigeration and Air conditioning Information sheet air handling unit Basic requirements The unit which should be tested has to be delivered completely with all necessary equipment. An operation manual, an electrical wiring diagram, and sufficient sealing and connection material has to be provided also with the unit. The unit should be mounted on an one-piece basic frame and should have a facility to move the unit with a crane. If this is not possible, the one-piece basic frame should be delivered separate to the unit and the parts of the air handling unit should be provided with a facility to move them with a crane. The maximal height of the air handling unit should not exceed 2,2 m (inclusive the basic-frame and the facility to move the unit with a crane). The unit has to be delivered with a complete electrical connection (repair switch, plug and if necessary with a frequency transformer). Test of the mechanical performance The following mechanical performance has to be tested on the real unit: leakage of the casing - bypass- leakage casing strength Therefore two covers for each air side (e.g. sheet metal) and sealing material has to be provided. These covers should be equipped with a pipe ( o 6 mm, length min. 25mm) for the measuring of the internal pressure of the casing and a pipe ( i 105 mm, length min. 150 mm) in order to connect the unit to our leakage test facility. For units with a heat recovering system please take into account that we need the above mentioned covers for the exhaust side to. pipe ( 6 mm) HRS + - pipe i 105 mm Example for covers www.tuev-sued.de/is Seite 2 von 9 Stand: 07/ 2010
Air volume flow rate test The air volume flow rate of the unit will be tested with an orifice plate test stand. From the air volume flow rate test stand Transition piece Example of the test set-up for the air volume flow test For the adjustment of the unit to our air volume flow test stand it is necessary that the manufacturer delivers the following transition pieces with the unit. Supply air inlet: 625 mm 1 Transition piece according to the sketch, fitting to the below described duct 1 Duct with the dimensions of the entrance of the unit (length 1 m) with wall pressure tapping Supply air outlet: 1 Duct with the dimensions of the entrance of the unit (length 1 m) with wall pressure tapping and a downstream connected damper (with the possibility to adjust and lock from the outside). www.tuev-sued.de/is Seite 3 von 9 Stand: 07/ 2010
Capacity test (cooler / heater) To carry out the capacity test on a cooler/heater it is necessary that the manufacturer delivers the following transition pieces and additional equipment with the unit: 1 x siphon for a controlled drain of the condensate (only for cooling capacity tests). 2 x Fitting transition pieces for the water connection to the cooler/heater (inlet/outlet) in order to connect the cooler/heater to our test facility. Connection of the coil/ heater) Transition piece with o = 2 and a threat (outside) pipe: length min. 10 x ø Transition pieces for the air side of the unit in order to connect the unit to our test facility(see sketch). Induct sound power For the determination of the induct sound power the unit will be built into a chamber. The air outlet of the unit is in the level of the door of the chamber. Chinks between the unit and the door of the chamber are sealed with sound reducing material. The air volume flow of the unit will by adjusted be closing the air inlet damper of the unit. The sound power level is determined at an appropriate measuring surface. Only the induct sound power of the supply side is measured. Airborne sound power The unit will be placed in a free field. On the inlet and outlet of the supply side of the unit sound attenuators will be mounted. The attenuators have to be provided by the manufacturer. The connection between the sound attenuators and the air handling unit has to be suitable and easy to install. Necessary additional equipment for the fixing of the attenuators have to be provided by the manufacturer. During the airborne sound power measurement only the supply side is working. Important: All above mentioned equipment has to be delivered with the air handling unit at the same time to the test house. The missing equipment will be procured by TÜV Süd Industrie Service. The procuring of these equipment (material and working time) and through it caused waiting periods will be separately be charged by TÜV Süd Industrie Service. The hourly laboratory wage come to 129 Euro/h. The units have to be delivered and picked up at the laboratory without costs for TÜV Süd Industrie Service. Eventually necessary costs for customs clearance will be charged separately by TÜV Süd Industrie Service.
