Stunning reception hall Fitted kitchen Breakfast room Utility Office Dining room Living room Master suite with dressing room and bathroom Three further bedrooms Three further bathrooms Double garage Double glazing Fully insulated shed/man cave Oil fired central heating Extensive gardens Delightful location Convenient & outstanding location
This impressive, individual and versatile property is arranged on one floor of living space but cleverly divides the living space from the bedroom and bathrooms by means of a fabulous and welcoming reception hall. The stunning arched doorway dominates the reception hall which provides a warm welcome to this distinctive property. There is a generous kitchen with granite work surfaces (with built-in Neff appliances including a double oven, LPG gas hob, dishwasher, microwave) and breakfast room with adjoining utility which in turn leads to a large and particularly useful office which provides access onto the central courtyard. There is a particularly spacious living room and a dining room with a Strachan fitted library and with patio doors onto the south facing side of the property and the Indian sandstone patio.
Seller Insight Furlong sits in its own ½ acre plot and is delightfully quiet, peaceful and restful and we found that just perfect, say the current owners of this generous four bedroom property in the Hampshire village of Tangley. With the large size and number of the rooms, this house perfectly suited our needs as a family at that time, too. As well suited to entertaining as to everyday life, the layout of the property is such that there is an easy flow between the living spaces. The house really lends itself to entertaining, say the owners, with plenty of light, open spaces between the dining room, lounge, study and garden. The kitchen with its sociable breakfast area is often where family and friends tend to gather when they visit us here. A generously proportioned yet low maintenance garden provides a spacious complement to the house itself, having been landscaped into different areas according to both aesthetics and use. With a slight slope, say the owners, the lawned area runs down to a lovely vegetable plot with raised beds, at the bottom of the garden, while other parts are populated with trees and shrubs (and a variety of birds!). The tranquil location of Furlong also has much to recommend it. The property is surrounded by beautiful countryside with miles of stunning walks to be taken in any direction. The owners commented that the quiet cul-de-sac, on which the house sits, has the perfect balance of friendship and privacy. Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the sought after village of Tangley has two excellent pubs and is within a short distance of three good Primary Schools feeding into The Clere Secondary School and some excellent independent schools in easy reach. A wide range of shopping and leisure facilities are available at Andover, just a few miles away, with its mainline station offering trains to London in around 70 minutes. The birdlife which visits our garden is quite extraordinary, with a variety of different species nesting and singing in the trees. Just yesterday we had a family gathering of 20 in the house without feeling cramped, the house being so well suited to entertaining family and friends. I love my brick built double garage and separate posh timber shed, where I can spend hours on all my projects, working with my hands.
The master bedroom suite comprises a generous double bedroom, a dressing room with ceiling height wardrobes and a bathroom with separate shower. There are two further en-suite bedrooms, one with a bath and one with a shower and a fourth bedroom which has the use of the family bathroom. There is plenty of storage space within the wardrobes of the bedrooms, including Sharps fitted furniture in the master suite. This low maintenance property benefits from double glazing and oil-fired central heating.
This is an incredibly easy and extremely pleasant place to live, from the house itself and its beautiful garden, to the calmness of the cul-de-sac and surrounding area.
The particularly private grounds of 0.49 acre are enclosed by a well-maintained hedgerow and are approached through double gates on brick pillars with twin lanterns via a block paving style driveway. The extensive gardens are mainly laid to lawn with well-established shrubs and planted beds and there are 4 raised beds for vegetables. In the corner of the garden is an area of hard-standing, ideal for the erection of an additional shed or for the storage of a boat or caravan. To the south side of the property is an attractive garden of lawn and a patio of Indian sandstone which continues around to the north side. At the front of the property is a lovely central courtyard, ideal for entertaining, with rose borders and a footpath leading on to the garden. The large double garage sits to the side of the property with a spacious driveway and plenty of space internally for two large cars. A personal door also leads onto the central courtyard and there is an outside office/man cave, clad in pine, which is fully insulated and with power, light and wi-fi. Directions From Newbury head south-west on the A343 and continue through the village of Hurstbourne Tarrant. After one mile turn right for Pill Heath and after a further mile and a half cross over the next crossroads, continuing straight ahead. From now on, follow the signs for the Fox Inn and on reaching the pub turn right at the junction and then almost immediately left where Furlong is the first property on the right. From Andover head north on the Charlton Road and proceed through the village following directions for Hatherden. Stay on Hatherden Lane until reaching The Fox Inn on your right and take the next turning on your left where Furlong House is the first property you come to on the left hand side. From Marlborough head east on the A4 and take the right hand turn for Great Bedwyn. Continue south through the village of Oxenwood to Fosbury and after approximately one mile turn right onto Conholt Hill. Continue on this road until eventually coming to The Fox Inn on the left. Turn right here, just before The Fox and Furlong is the property on the right hand side behind the hedge.
