It forms an essential part of the design. Views are invitingly captured into urban window frames at the end of each corridor, emphasizing the astonishing qualities of the city. The structuring character of these views make the plan easy to read and without complexities. The solid building core is perforated with a variety of connecting axes, making the floorplan more transparent and efficient. Large scale pivoting doors make sure the office can be adapted to the appropriate situation and offers various degrees of privacy when needed, without losing its transparency. Although the interior may be serene at first glance, the tactile use of worn materials form a rich contrast throughout the office. Referring to the industrial field of work Habraken Rutten operates in, subtle graphics are translated into wool paneled cupboards creating astonishing interior views. The use of color is toned down to the bare essential. By adding a refined and balanced lighting plan, the Habraken Rutten office transforms itself in the nightly hours, far from being a standard office. The interior design carries the new, strong signature of Habraken Rutten, taking care of the smallest details.
The first high-end infrastructure and real estate law firm in the Netherlands. A clear signature with a personal, practical, modest, rythmic and sensoric approach.
We at HabrakenRutten are extremely satisfied with the new interior design of our Rotterdam office by Fokkema & Partners. The design meticulously captures our corporate image, with its cool concrete-steel-glass signature, while at the same time the warm tapestries and wool-padded cupboards provide for pleasant acoustics and a serene working habitat. Peter Habraken Translating the program and the identity. Bold shapes, rough, toned down graphics and a clear rhythmic, refer to the raw industrial and infrastructural projects HabrakenRutten advise in. This design approach is contrasted and refined with attention to interior details and muted lighting, evoking a homely, atmospheric sensation. An intriguing balance is found with use of distinctive materials with a weathered texture. The design results both raw and high-end comfortable; both spacious and efficiënt. Wide corridors flank the building core. These are comfortable, fluid spaces which feel like a foyer, especially as space often flows around the corners past the pivoting doors. They are also a functional space for the open interior concept with a reading table on one side, and on the other (more secluded) side a library integrated into the wall.
