RESIDENTIAL nyc apartment N Floor Plan: scale 1/4 = 1-0 Project: Design a third floor apartment based off of an artists work (Alexander Farto) Concept: By looking at his work for inspiration on my concept I wanted to play with the idea of adding and removing material to reveal the space. This is shown in the third floor of the apartment I using the grounded feel of Farto s work. I keep the furniture and line of sight very low with deliberate moments of defiance to mimic his work. The orange accent color is also derived from his work from the warm glow that happens when light hits it.

RETAIL sephora Project: Design a Sephora store focusing on branding and the customers experience. Office Storage Challenges: Implementing the companies brand without being so literal My concept is derived from this idea of taking the natural, or what is already comfortable for a customer, and blending it with the unexpected to cause a push out of the comfort zone. This concept comes from the typical customers feelings and approach to make-up. Color New Product Display Cash Wrap/Help Center Beauty Bar Floor Plan: Not to Scale
RETAIL sephora A large curvilinear element, located in the middle of the store, divides the color section from the rest of the store while at the same time directing the customer through all sections of the store. This element houses a beauty bar that uses twoway mirrors to allow customers to overlook the services provided.
RETAIL sephora Main Features: Both sections have beauty bars where professionals are there to help with product selections. The second wall feature that moves up into a ceiling element draws attention to new products and provides a second service center.

Challenges: Tying the first and second floors together in both the flow of merchandise and overall design of the space. First Floor Plan: Not to Scale Concept: This space was focused around the curvilinear motion of waves and the push and pull of the currents in regards to surfing as a sport. This is shown through the curved shape of the second floor and the large pull of the blue center hall up into the second floor display unit.

CORPORATE snapchat headquarters Project: Pick a social media company and design a one floor office space that speaks to their branding but can also be rented to a different tenant every few years. Challenges: The challenge with this project was to design an office space could be used by a new tenant in a few years without having to start new. I designed this office space for the company Snapchat because their company is all about the idea of things not being permanent. I designed all the offices to be the same size so that depending on the companies set up they could be used for small heads down work or executive offices. I then designed the conference room to accommodate a large table style meeting or simply move the tables and you can have lecture style presentations. Project Features: - Large whiteboard walls to allow for collaboration -Varying desk heights and styles to allow for employees to get up and move around during the work day - Small uses of color to speak to the brand without the need for renovations when there is a new tenant.

Challenges: the small square footage for the number and types of spaces required. The space is centered around a dual purpose conference room that doubles as a large presentation/event room. By creating multi use spaces, in the extra square footage available I was able to create more innovative designs and work places. This Project won the studio sponsored Inscape award. GYM McComas, Virginia Tech Concept: The concept for this project came from the contrast between the mind and body style of fitness and the strength style of fitness. Mind and body is a very grounded, calming, and low impact style of exercise. Meanwhile, the strength style classes are very energetic and face paced style of exercise where participants are up on there feet majority of the time. This idea of contrast what further applied to the idea of contrast with light and dark. These two rooms use this concept of contrasting light to represent the style of fitness that it supports. Studio B: In the mind an body studio the style of fitness is very grounded and calming so the lighting is centralized on the lower third of the space and the colors used are muted. GYM McComas, Virginia Tech The stage is designed to be flexible in use depending on the instructor and the class being taught. It is two pieces that pivot around a single point, illustrated in figure B., allowing it to be arranged in a long and narrow shape for yoga classes when the ceiling height is less of an issue. With the stage arranged in this shape it gives more floor space for students as shown in figure A. It can be rotated to extend out past the soffit to allow more height for the instructor during strength classes. The colored trim creates a center line when the stage is folded on itself which indicates where the soffit is located above. This is illustrated in figure C. Studio A: In the Strength studio the style of exercise is very energizing and upbeat so the lighting is spot lighted towards the ceiling to showcase a bright ceiling feature. Stage Mechanics Diagram
