Directions Leaving Tunbridge Wells on the A264 signed towards East Grinstead, follow the road for approximately six miles passing through Langton Green, Ashurst and Blackham. Turn left on to the B2026 sign posted Hartfield. After approx 1 mile you will see Perryhill Nurseries on your left and Perryhill farm shop entrance on your right, the driveway to Bolebrook is on your right a few yards after the farm shop entrance. The driveway from the B2026 to the farm entrance is half a mile long and passes the castle gates on a bend. Do not take the track immediately after the castle, but continue to the end of the driveway you are on and the entrance gates to Bolebrook Wood Farm will be seen on your right. Historical Note The first mention of Bolebroke was apparently in 1272, when records of John de la Lynde s death showed he had previously paid a rent of 10 shillings yearly for it. It was subsequently in the ownership of a number of illustrious families, including the Dukes of Dorset, the Earls of Thanet and the Sackville family. Although unsubstantiated, it is reputed locally to have been used by Henry VIII as a hunting lodge, perhaps because of its proximity to Anne Boleyn s home at Hever Castle. By coincidence, it was also one of the filming locations for The Other Boleyn Girl, a film directed by Justin Chadwick in 2008.
