Robotic blasters create no dust Airless, dustless, and three times faster than conventional blasting! If your blasting work includes large vertical or horizontal metal surfaces, as commonly found in shipyards and in many steel tanks, Blast-One has the perfect tool for the job a robotic blast system. Vertical or horizontal blasting The Blast-One range of blasting systems are portable, airless and dustless, and are operated by remote control designed to be used in either vertical or horizontal positions. All dust, grit and abrasive remains entirely contained within the blasting unit, so there s no mess to clean up and no hazardous airborne residues. These vertical Blasting Units create no mess, no dust and only use a handful of abrasive as shown hard at work along the inside of a tank (above). The inset shows the tough, robust construction of the unit. Induction-based paint removal... without dust! A new way of removing thick coatings The innovative Rust and Paint Removal System is a highly cost-effective and extremely efficient method for removing paint from steel surfaces. The unit has no moving parts to create dust, so it is quite safe to the surrounding work area and the general environment. Coating removal without dust or mess all water and debris is captured by vacuum. Clear the deck without the dust The high production cleaning tool that has revolutionized floor, tank and ship deck stripping! This incredible accessory to the Blast-One range of Ultra-High Pressure machines enables rapid stripping of old coatings and heavy corrosion from ship decks leaving the surface clean and ready for application of new coatings. This same tool can also be used for stripping coatings such as epoxies and urethanes from concrete floors and even removes overspray and other build-up and walkways. The attached vacuum hose from gratings rapidly takes away the water and debris leaving the surface clean and ready for subsequent recoating or sealing. A clean surface can also be achieved with a rotating lance featuring our specially-designed multi-orifice heads. 4 Industry Bulletin June/July 2013
Normal open blasting with low dust Most of the dust from abrasive blasting is caused by the abrasive impacting onto the substrate at a very high speed and breaking up into fragments. Blast-One SpeedBlast Garnet consists of gemstone grains that have been weathered by thousands of years of erosion from the mother-rock, down rivers, creeks and streams then sandblasted by high winds and blown up into dunes. These surviving grains are the toughest and the most durable. This is why Blast-One SpeedBlast Garnet produces less dust and can be recycled much more than other abrasives imported from overseas. Most of the overseas garnet has not been conditioned fully and still has a soft outer shell which can cause dust. Conventional abrasives can create excess dust (above), blasting with Blast-One SpeedBlast Garnet is much more neighborly (left). You can see much better, work cleaner and it won t offend your neighbors! Up to 99.9% less dust with Sponge Blast Control dust near sensitive equipment or when removing hazardous coatings This is a revolutionary approach to surface preparation where Soft Sponge Media expends its energy upon impact on the surface and sucks the dust into its open cell structure and then falls close to the operator, ready to be recycled. This technology can be used in any cleaning application when dust is an issue. Sponge Media abrasives are manufactured with a tough, porous urethane sponge material, which controls and suppresses dust. Sponge Media particles flatten as they strike the surface, then expose the abrasive where they cut into the coating and substrate, profiling 0 to 100+ microns (0 to 4+ mils). No dust allowed? No problem! The Blast N Vac Workhead is dust free Vacuum Blasting is used in areas where absolutely no dust or mess can be tolerated. Lead based paints (and other toxic coatings) can also be removed with the assurance that little (if any) residue from the blast process will be left behind. Blast N Vac workheads are available in a range of different sizes (right) for blasting on delicate jobs up to large floors and walls. The units have a unique bristle brush and vacuum shroud around the blast nozzle that captures all the abrasive and dust during blasting. The integrity of operation relies on the operator maintaining the nylon brush seals in contact with the work surface. The Mini Blast N Vac system is the perfect unit for spot blasting/small projects. 6 Industry Bulletin June/July 2013
Control that dust it s simple! Let the Blue Wizard Dust Extraction Fan do all the work for you Ventilation can be critical to maintain good visibility and a safe work environment for operators and nearby workers while abrasive blasting (inside and out). The better you see, the more efficient your blasting and the safer the work area. More productivity can be achieved by removing airborne dust from containment areas and discharging through the fan. Dust control in contained areas is vital for visibility and efficient blasting, so stop guessing and get rid of that dust fast with a Blue Wizard high performance fan. Don t let dust obstruct your visibility clear the air with a Blue Wizard extraction fan. A Blue Wizard at work on a bridge blasting project (top right) and a closer view of the fan (right). Please note: does not control or collect lead based paints. Be a whole lot more neighborly! FilterMesh is extremely effective as a barrier against dust and debris. FilterMesh FT and FTFR (Flame Retardant) filter sheeting consists of a finely woven mesh (see inset) in terms of tensile strength, it is stronger than any conventional scaffold sheeting on the market. In driving rain, a thin mist will develop on the inside of the sheeting, but protection is provided against direct rain or snow. The effects of high winds are greatly reduced due to the closely woven mesh construction and it s an ideal product for exposed site locations. An improved working environment is assured because this type of sheeting allows airflow and provides a means of controlling the temperature and humidity of work areas. This ventilation is particularly desirable in hot and humid climates. FilterMesh sheeting has integrated tying loops every 10 along reinforcement bands spaced 29 apart along the length of the sheeting you can use it horizontally or vertically.
