If any case, all herbicides used on this project shall be applied by a licensed applicator for the type of herbicides being applied. 2.2 AGGREGATE MATERIALS AND PIPE BEDDING Crushed surfacing (WSDOT 9-03.9(3)) Access Road Access paths around cells Course Aggregate (WSDOT 9-03.11(2)) Cell Fill 4 inch stream bed cobbles Pea Gravel (WSDOT 9-03.1(4)C) Cell Fill AASHTO Grading #8 Round Rock (WSDOT9-03.1(4)C) Cell Fill 1 to 2 inch round rock Sand Bedding WSDOT 9-03.1(2)B Class 2) Cell Bedding Pipe Bedding Quarry Spalls (WSDOT 9-13.6) Construction Entrance (as required for maintenance) Cell perimeter 2.3 GEOTEXTILE FABRIC A. All new access roads and access paths around cells shall be lined with a geotextile fabric under crushed rock surfacing. Access roads geotextile: Geotex 200 ST by Proper Geotextile Systems or approved equal. B. All new perimeter of cell access paths shall be lined with a geomembrane under a crushed rock surfacing. Access path geomembrane: Geotex 651 by proper geotextile systems or approved equal. 2.4 GEOMEMBRANE LINER A. All new treatment cells/ponds shall be lined with a single continuous 60 mil thick HDPE or 40 mil thick PVC liner in accordance with Department of Ecology standards. Section 02200 Page 1 Specification PG14-0667F

B. Liners shall extend beyond cell edge, under gravel access path/road, a minimum of 5-0 on all sides. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.1 CONSTRUCTION DETAILS Upon completion of all clearing and grubbing operations and after all excavation and reconsolidation of in-situ materials is complete to the satisfaction of the engineer, road/path surfacing shall be applied at the locations shown on the drawings and further specified in these specifications. Soil sterilant shall be applied prior to installing surfacing. The contractor shall submit the name of the aggregate materials suppliers. Provide materials from the same source throughout the project. Change of source requires engineer approval. Aggregate materials which the contractor intends to store on-site shall separate differing materials with dividers or stockpile apart to prevent mixing. 3.2 EXCAVATION AND GRADING All materials to be removed and replaced shall be native materials. All materials shall be compacted in lifts as stated therein. Prior to performing any grading operations, the contractor shall: A. Verify site conditions, survey bench marks and elevations for the work are as indicated. B. Locate, identify, and protect utilities from damage. C. Fill areas to required grades or blend into existing grades as directed with approved backfill materials. Correct areas over-excavated as directed by the engineer or his designated representative with approved backfill material. 3.3 TRENCHING All trenches shall be sufficiently true to line and grade to permit accurate alignment of pipe and trench shall be as nearly rectangular in section with reasonable sheeting and bracing as the ground requires and shall clear the side of the pipe sufficiently to permit proper tamping of the pipe bedding. If the trench bottom is deemed unsuitable by the engineer for supporting the pipe, the unsuitable material shall be removed and disposed of and sand shall be placed for pipe bedding as directed by the engineer. The contractor shall keep the dust from his operations under control at all times to prevent nuisances. Boulders or rocks shall be entirely removed or cut to full trench width and 12-inches below grade. Where pipe is to be laid on fill, all top soil and debris shall be removed from the existing ground and the fill made of suitable material thoroughly compacted to pipe grade by methods approved by the engineer. The contractor shall provide adequate cross drainage and prevent flooding of the trench. Section 02200 Page 2 Specification PG14-0667F
