Introduction Craig Hale National Sales Manager Advanced Radiant Systems, Inc. Fishers, IN Signature Flight Support
What is radiant heating? Like the sun, radiant energy warms the surfaces of the objects in a space. Floors and equipment become comfortable to the touch. Higher comfort levels are maintained at lower air temperature settings reducing energy consumption. Stratification is also reduced by not using convective heating. No longer fighting physics but using them in our favor.
Radiant Heating Original source for radiant energy: the sun In the shade: Outside Temperature: 32 F Feels like (ambient): In the sun: 32 F Outside Temperature: 32 F Feels like (ambient): Signature Flight Support 55 F
Convection Heating vs. Radiant Even low placed forced air equipment distributes warm air to the space then it rises creating stratification in the space. Radiant heating blankets the same area heating only the objects that then in turn warm the air as secondary heat exchangers. thus resulting in minimal stratification and more comfortable conditions. Hanging height has minimal impact on performance.

What savings are possible? High Efficiency Tube Heater Save over $1.5m at Chrysler's Jefferson North Assembly Plant AmbiRad and Energy Solutions replaced 38 direct fired heaters with 42 infrared radiant tube heaters and also installed new thermostatic controls, in 10 dock areas. In summary, the energy savings achieved amounted to $1.8m of natural gas (an 85% reduction) and the payback on the project was a remarkable 2 months! I would like to thank Larry Workens, Sr. Energy Engineer, who independently measured the energy savings achieved by this project.
