PROFISPOT NEWS ON LIGHT AND LIGHTING A SHORT PROCESS PLUG & PLAY LIGHTING SOLUTIONS FROM TRAXON Scientechnic is the leading provider of mechanical and electronic solutions in the United Arab Emirates. With the help of an innovative plug & play lighting solution from the OSRAM subsidiary Traxon, an offi ce of the customer Al Gurg from Dubai was given a completely new appearance in next to no time. Innovative lighting refurbishment over a single weekend Cove Light AC Dim (2,700 K) from Traxon was installed along the outer wall below the ceiling, and this gave the interior a warm and bright ambience. The installation had to be completed within a very short space of time because of continuous use of the offi ces, and one weekend was all that was available in order to prevent disruptions to work cycles. Luminaires were thus needed that were quick and easy to install and yet still achieved the required effect. Cove Light AC Dim fulfi lls all expectations in terms of fl exibility and simple installation for the luminaires, in addition to desired color temperature (2,700 K) and luminous effi cacy. Thanks to simple network operation and plug & play cabling, Cove Light AC Dim enables very long continuous lighting strips without further external power sources or cabling. This cuts both costs and time: Installation of the 108 luminaires in the offi ces was achieved in merely two hours. Cove Light AC Dim is also an energy and cost-saving solution thanks to its high luminous effi cacy of approx. 950 to 1,350 lumens per meter. The lighting can also be dimmed down to 5 %, enabling an additional feeling of well-being for employees, who can themselves control the lighting installation. If all benefi ts are seen together, the Traxon lighting solution was the ideal choice for the project. NO. 2 JULY 2013 CONFORMS COMPLETELY THE NEW OSRAM LED LAMP PORTFOLIO From September 2013, minimum requirements in terms of effi ciency and functionality for lamps with directional light (including LED modules) come into effect for the fi rst time, as well as additional functional minimum requirements for non-directed LED lamps (EU 1194/2012). What does this specifically mean for you? Below is an overview of what will be changing in the OSRAM portfolio for the coming light season, and with a special focus on LED lamps. Because almost all light sources from OSRAM comply with the new high energy and quality requirements, the ErP directive in 2013 has no direct effect on our LED portfolio. Effects on the traditional OSRAM lamp portfolio The effects of the directive on the traditional lamp portfolio from OSRAM in 2013 are slight. Specifi cally, only three products are affected. NO. 2 JULY 2013 DIMMING DEFINED DIGITALLY: LEDOTRON LEDOTRON is the new standard for digitally controlling LED and compact fl uorescent lamps. The future-safe technology can be simply used over the existing power supply line and thus offers complete compatibility between control unit and light source. The new dimming standard for modern LED and energy-saving lamps The outphasing of incandescent lamps is derived from the 244/2009 directive and began in autumn 2009. Increasingly taking their place are energy-effi cient LED and energy-saving lamps. The disadvantage: Perfect control such as dimming* for example cannot be ensured. For this reason, the leading electrical brands Gira, Jung, Merten, Schneider Electric, Radium and OSRAM have agreed to develop an open and future-proof dimming standard conforming to standards: LEDOTRON. The IEC 62756-1 standard is being drawn up on the basis of this. The following OSRAM lamps have already been developed in accordance with the principles of LEDOTRON they are compatible with the LEDOTRON control units supplied by our partners. SHOWING THE WAY SAFELY: EFFICIENT STREET LIGHTING PROFISPOT NEWS ON LIGHT AND LIGHTING The regular maintenance of lighting systems is elementary for traffi c safety on public roads and plazas. With the new NAV Super 6Y and HCI -ET Super 4Y lamps from OSRAM, operators such as city municipalities and energy providers move up a step in the future in terms of effi ciency, durability and economy. A longer lifespan for more efficient street lighting: NAV Super 6Y Different lamps need different main tenance intervals. The higher the service life and thus also the main tenance factor, the lower are main tenance costs. For this reason the NAV Super 6Y aims for a long average lifespan of up to 50,000 hours (B50) and a lamp survival factor of 95 % after 24,000 hours (B5). The new OSRAM product is especially suitable for roads, tunnels and areas with high traffi c volumes, and for danger zones such as crossroads and pedestrian crossings. NAV Super 6Y lamps are available in standard wattages of 50 to 400 W. The HCI lamps can be operated on the NAV lighting outlets at the same wattage and without additional effort. Ineffi cient HQ lamps can be upgraded to modern HCI technology with a replacement gear tray to achieve energy savings of up to 70 %. Amortization is then achieved after around 2 2.5 years according to application. The lamps are especially suitable for main roads, residential roads, pedestrian paths and car parks.
