Figure 2 3.2 Humidity Display The house humidity icon identifies high and low humidity conditions. When the relative humidity is less than 30%, LOW is displayed. Figure 3 A healthy humidity level is one that measures between 30% and 50%. Humidity that measures above 50% creates a breeding ground for mold, dust mites, bacteria, and other pests. Humidity that measures below 30% increases the likelihood that cold and flu viruses will spread while also leading to uncomfortable respiratory symptoms. Too-dry air can also cause damage to your home's foundation and certain furnishings. To avoid the problems of too little or too high humidity, we recommend you maintain a humidity level of between 45% and 50%. 4. Specifications and Accuracy 4.1 Measurement Specifications The following table provides specifications for the measured parameters. Measurement Range Accuracy Resolution Indoor Temperature 32 to 113 F ± 2 F 0.1 Probe Temperature -4 to 140 F ± 2 F 0.1 Humidity 1 to 99% ± 5% of full scale between 10 and 95% 1 4.2 Power Consumption Monitor: 2 x AA Alkaline batteries recommended. 5. Troubleshooting Guide If your question is not answered here, you can contact us as follows: 1. Email Support: support@ambientweather.com 2. Technical Support: 480-346-3380 (M-F 8am to 4pm Arizona Time) Problem Humidity is inaccurate Solution Humidity is a difficult parameter to measure electronically and drifts over time due to contamination. Even the most expensive hygrometers are only accurate to ± 3% of full scale. In addition, location has an adverse effect on humidity readings. Note that indoor and outdoor humidity varies greatly indoors, outdoors and location to location, so you cannot accurately compare your humidity to official weather station sources, such as the news or National Weather Service. Temperature is inaccurate Display is dim Monitor locks up or exhibits unusual operation Use a calibrated source, such as a sling psychrometer for comparison. Temperature errors can occur when a sensor is placed too close to a heat source. To verify temperature accuracy, we recommend a mercury or red spirit (fluid) thermometer. Bi-metal (dial thermometers or thermostats) and other digital thermometers are not a good source and have their own margin of error. Replace the batteries. Press the reset button. 6. Liability Disclaimer Please help in the preservation of the environment and return used batteries to an authorized depot. The electrical and electronic wastes contain hazardous substances. Disposal of electronic waste in wild country and/or in unauthorized grounds strongly damages the environment. Reading the User manual is highly recommended. The manufacturer and supplier cannot accept any responsibility for any incorrect readings and any consequences that occur should an inaccurate reading take place.
