The minutes were read and approved as read. The treasurer report was given by Treasurer, Tony Delgado. As of the meeting we have a balance of $13, 735.32. Motion made to approve treasurer report as read and approved. The ALOA Convention Promotion report was given by Elmer Howard. There will be a form to fill out and return to Elmer Howard before next meeting to be in the drawing. All names will be put in a box and all drawn out with first winner to get the package and the second winner to get the $100 gift given by instructor Mick McManis. Election of Officers was held and your new President is Elmer Howard. New Vice President is Dale Voigt, and new Secretary is Richard Taedter,Sr. Gene Hansen volunteered to be the new editor. Bernard Dobesh is now a Director. Meetings for the following year are January at Lincoln, NE, April will be Kearney, NE, July will be Norfolk, NE, and October will be at Grand Island, NE. PRESIDENTS NOTES Joyce and I wish to thank everyone for another term as President and First lady for NLA. We are looking forward to bringing you some of the best classes that we can bring in. Since I was president from 1998 through 2001 hope everything we learned will help NLA prosper and grow. I appreciated Dale Voigt taking the Vice President as he is a long time member of NLA also. Richard Taedter was kind enough to take Secretary and Gene Hansen took Editor. For the last period of time I had been Editor, Secretary, and Director. Bernard Dobesh now is Director. With the great group of officers we have things should run pretty smooth. My phone goes on at app. 6:00 A. M. and I shut it off at about 11:00 P.M. and everyone is welcome to call me any time. It is never a bother and I appreciate being able to help everyone out or talk with them. We will be trying different things to inspire our membership to grow. One of the things that will be offered is that if you bring a new person to the class you will receive a $20. Discount off your next class. After we draw the door prizes there will be a grand prize for only NLA members. That will be that someone will win the ticket that will get him the next class free. Cunningham, JD,CRL,CFL COURSE DESCRIPTION This course will acquaint the students with some of the basic principles that apply to the forensic investigation and forensic examination of locks, safes and related security devices. COURSE OBJECTIVES Upon completion of the course the student will know and understand the value the forensic locksmith can be to the consumer and to law enforcement. * You will learn how the locksmith skills you already possess can be utilized to assist the consumer and law enforcement. * You will learn what marks are left behind when a lock is compromised, how to recognize these marks and how to distinguish them from normal marks left on a lock. * You will learn how to process a scene and preserve the evidence and the scene itself for possible later presentation in court. * You will learn the basics of report writing for law enforcement and insurance companies. * You will learn about becoming qualified as an expert and preparing a CV. * You will learn techniques of auto theft and bypass methods for some transponder systems. * You will learn how to determine if a lock was compromised when the car is completely burnt. * You will learn about advertising and how to build a forensic locksmith clientele.
