Based on the Dow AgroSciences award-winning molecule pyroxsulam, UNITE also contains flupyrsulfuronmethyl in a formulation tailored to the needs of the UK wheat grower. OCH 3 CF N N O S N OCH 3 O H N N N OCH 3 Pyroxsulam delivers highly effective contact action supported by the tried and trusted contact and residual action of flupyrsulfuron-methyl. This unique combination is highly effective against blackgrass, as well as an extensive range of other grassweeds and broad-leaved weeds. Around the globe, pyroxsulam is providing outstanding solutions for grassweed control. Whether it is bromes in Europe or cheat grass on the US prairies; the product is providing growers with effective control. Pyroxsulam is from the triazolopyrimidine sulphonamide family of chemicals and controls weeds by inhibiting the action of the AcetoLactate Synthase (ALS) enzyme. Pyroxsulam can be incorporated into weed control strategies and cropping programmes without having to sacrifice preferred cultivation methods or rotational flexibility. On a farm at Lawshall, near Bury St Edmunds, the following pictures were taken on 30th January 2012. They show an application of UNITE sprayed on 16th November 2011. The pre-emergence used was 4.0 L/ha of Crystal + 0.25 L/ha Hurricane. The pictures show both excellent blackgrass and cranesbill control (full control of sterile brome was also achieved). LAWSHALL BLACKGRASS CONTROL CRANESBILL CONTROL On a farm in Hartest, Suffolk, the following pictures were taken on 14th March 2012. A pre-emergence treatment of 0.6 L/ha Liberator + 0.25 L/ha Hurricane was applied in September 2011, followed by UNITE + 2.0 L/ha Stomp Aqua on 29th November 2011, sprayed when the blackgrass was at 3 leaves. UNITE has given excellent control of blackgrass, volunteer beans and a range of other broadleaved weeds, as is clearly shown by the clean tramlines. Use as part of a programme and fo ow wrag guidelines Apply during active growth of grassweeds Blackgrass up to GS24 Following a minimum of 240g ai/ha flufenacet applied as a pre-emergence Wild oats up to GS32 Ryegrass up to GS29 Brome up to GS24 (optimum control of sterile and great brome may not be achieved in the spring) Apply 270g/ha UNITE + Adjuvant (range supported) Rainfast in 2 hours UNITE herbicide in an autumn programme The key to using UNITE is a programmed approach based on a pre-emergence treatment of at least 240g ai/ha flufenacet. For best results tank mix UNITE with a residual herbicide such as Stomp Aqua (min 1.75 L/ha) and one of a wide range of approved adjuvants. Optimal timing is to apply UNITE to actively growing weeds with blackgrass at 1-3 leaf stage. Apply in 100-150 L/ha water, 130 L is optimum and use FF or VPFF 110 nozzles with fine-medium spray quality. UNITE herbicide in spring Even applied in spring, best results are achieved within a programmed approach. UNITE can be used on crops up to and before GS31. Optimum results come from treating actively growing grassweeds: Blackgrass up to GS24 (after a minimum of 240g ai/ha flufenacet pre-emergence) Wild oats up to GS32 Ryegrass up to GS29 Brome up to GS24 (optimum control of sterile and great brome may not be achieved in the spring)
