KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS Read these instructions carefully before using the appliance. Any use which does not comply with these instructions will invalidate the warranty. Dear Customer, Thank you for purchasing our product. Vaporella has been designed to ensure the best ironing comfort for you; its quality materials make it a reliable tool. With Vaporella it is possible to iron vertically to refresh fabrics and remove bad smells from jackets, clothes and overcoats. With the steam regulator you can select the right steam flow for different kinds of fabrics, thus increasing the operating time before refilling with just normal tap water. Vaporella helps you work safely. This product conforms with very strict regulations and is equipped with exclusive safety devices, among them the patented safety cap, which prevents the device being opened whilst there is the slightest pressure inside the boiler. We hope you enjoy using Vaporella. Polti S.p.A. reserves the right to change equipment or accessory specification without prior notice. IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS WHEN USING THE STEAM IRON In addition to the above safeguards that apply to the steamer: Iron only on supports that are heat resistant and which allow the steam to permeate. Replace the iron rest mat only with original spare parts. If ironing whilst sitting down, take care to ensure that the jet of steam is not angled towards your legs. Steam can scald. Always use and rest the iron on a stable surface. When placing the iron on its stand, make sure that the surface on which the stand is placed is stable. Do not leave the iron unattended or on an ironing board Use the iron on an ironing board. Ironing on any other surface may damage the surface or the iron plate. Burns may occur when touching hot surfaces or near steam vents. Use iron only for its intended use. Close supervision is necessary when the iron is used near children. IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS USING THE APPLIANCE: Water contains magnesium, mineral salts and other deposits that may cause the formation of scale. To prevent these deposits from damaging the appliance, we recommend periodically adding Kalstop FP2003 in the boiler tank, a natural descaling agent specifically formulated to prevent formation of scale and protect your appliance. For any queries please visit www.polti.com web site. Alternatively, use a mixture of 50% tap water and 50% distilled water or bottled spring water. Never use 100% distilled water or bottled spring water but always mix them with 50% tap water. Never use water from clothes dryers, scented water, water from refrigerators, batteries or air conditioners, pure distilled water or rain water. Do not put any detergent or chemical substance in the boiler tank. For best results, use original Polti products only, as products of other brands may not be suitable for use in Polti appliances and could cause damage. Press the buttons only with a finger, without excessive force and avoid using pointed objects such as a pen or a screwdriver. To avoid compromising the safety of the appliance use only original spare parts. Do not overfill the boiler tank. Do not place the hot appliance on heat-sensitive surfaces. DO NOT SWALLOW Keep out of the reach of children. The Kalstop FP2003 supplied with the appliance contains vegetable origin tannic complex, in alkaline aqueous solution. CORRECT USE OF THE PRODUCT This appliance is intended for home use as a steam generator iron as described and in accordance with the instructions provided in this manual. Please read these instructions carefully and keep them for future reference. POLTI DECLINES LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE OR ACCIDENT DERIVED FROM ANY USE OF THIS APPLIANCE WHICH IS NOT IN CONFORMITY WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS CONTAINED IN THIS BOOKLET. IMPORTANT Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested. For this reason, your VAPORELLA may contain some residual water in the boiler tank from the testing. PREPARATION FOR USE mix them with 50% tap water. To use tap water only and avoid scale formation, we recommend periodically adding the special natural scale removal agent Kalstop FP2003. Pour half vial of Kalstop into the boiler tank containing the recommended quantity of water. If your water supply is particularly hard, you may want to use more (such as 1 vial for 34 fl oz / 1 liter of water). - Screw clockwise the cap fully and carefully. Make sure the patented safety cap (5) is fully and correctly screwed on, otherwise steam may escape from the cap. - Connect the power cable (7) into a grounded outlet of the correct voltage. - Switch on the boiler and iron by pressing the switches (2) and (4) (fig. 2). During the filling operation, be careful that the water does not overflow as it may come out and wet the surface where Vaporella is laid. Steam may cause serious injury if in contact with body parts. Always allow the steamer to cool down before handling. To reduce the risk of personal injury unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet and let the appliance and the accessories cool down completely before handling Always make sure that the appliance is unplugged before performing maintenance work of any kind, including adding water or cleaning the appliance. - Unscrew anti-clockwise the patented safety cap (5) and fill the boiler tank with about 30.5 fl oz (0.9 L) of water using the special funnel (9) making sure that it does not overflow (fig. 1). Ordinary tap water may also be used. However, since water contains limescale by nature, which may cause scaling in the long run, we recommend using a mixture of 50% tap water and 50% distilled water or bottled spring water. Never use 100% distilled water or bottled spring water but always Do NOT under any circumstances put or leave the funnel in the water filling aperture of the appliance when the appliance is connected to the electrical outlet. Danger of scalding! INSTRUCTION FOR USE Before ironing an item of clothing, always check the symbols on its label, for the instructions provided by the manufacturer. Check, based on the following table, the most appropriate type of ironing: Steam ironing allowed For dry ironing, set temperature adjustment knob (1) on Steam ironing allowed For dry ironing, set temperature adjustment knob (1) on Check the fabric's resistance to steam ironing or dry iron with temperature adjustment knob (1) set on - do not iron - steam ironing or treatment not allowed STEAM IRONING - Set the iron temperature on the COTTON - 9

LINEN position (fig.3), by turning the knob (1). - Wait until both the boiler switch (2) and the Iron heating indicator light (3a) switch off (about 10 minutes). Press the steam request button (3) on the iron to make steam come out from the holes on the soleplate. Releasing the button, the steam stops (fig.4). - In order to have a continuous steam jet, move the button (11) forward. Steam will keep on coming out, even if you release the steam request button. To interrupt the outlet, move the button (11) backwards (fig.5). - By turning the steam flow regulation knob (10) you can vary the amount of steam according to the type of textile to be ironed (more or less delicate). You can use this control to increase the steam flow by turning in anti-clockwise direction. Turning the control in a clockwise direction reduces the steam flow (fig.6). During the initial operation of the iron, a few drops of water mixed with steam may come out of the soleplate until the temperature stabilizes. It is advisable to direct the first jets of steam onto an old cloth until a uniform stable jet of steam is obtained. DRY IRONING For dry ironing: - Plug the power cable in. - Press the iron switch (4), leaving the boiler switch (2) OFF. - Adjust the soleplate temperature by turning the knob (1), set the temperature according to the kind of fabric. The boiler switch (2) and the Iron heating indicator light (3a) go ON and OFF during operation. This means that the heating element is working correctly to keep a constant pressure in the boiler tank. This is a correct functioning, just keep on ironing as usual. If no steam comes out of the iron, check if the Iron heating indicator light (3a) is OFF and if there is water in the boiler tank. 10 PATENTED SAFETY CAP / WATER OUT Your Vaporella is equipped with a patented safety cap, which prevents opening of the boiler tank as long as there is any pressure remaining inside. This is an important and indispensable safety device, and it is necessary to follow certain procedures when refilling the boiler tank. When no more steam comes out of the iron, proceed as follows: - Switch OFF the boiler tank (2). - Press the steam request button on the iron (3) so as to fully exhaust the steam supply from the boiler tank. - Switch OFF the iron (4). - Disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet. - Unscrew anti-clockwise the patented safety cap (5). - Wait at least for 5 minutes to allow the boiler tank to cool down. - When cool, carefully refill the boiler tank as described in paragraph PREPARATION FOR USE. If you refill the boiler tank when not completely cooled, we recommend to pour only very small quantities of water, so as to avoid its immediate evaporation. KALSTOP FP2003 Water contains magnesium, mineral salts and other deposits that may cause the formation of scale.to prevent these deposits from damaging the appliance, we recommend periodically adding Kalstop FP2003 in the boiler tank, a natural descaling agent specifically formulated to prevent formation of limescale and protect your appliance. Pour half vial of Kalstop into the boiler tank containing the recommended quantity of water. If your water supply is particularly hard, you may want to use more (such as 1 vial for 34 fl oz / 1 liter of water). For any queries please visit www.polti.com website. CARE OF YOUR VAPORELLA Before attempting any maintenance operation, always unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. To clean the body of the appliance, simply use a moist cloth. Do not use solvents or detergents, which may harm the body material.
