Lee Center, Alexandria, VA Soror Rhonda Luss, Basileus, Presiding Minutes Date: Saturday, March 4, 2017 General Membership Meeting No.: 17-02 The meeting was held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Nannie J. Lee Center, Alexandria, VA. The meeting was called to order by Soror Rhonda Luss, Basileus at 10:00am. Meditation: Led by Soror Beverly Anderson. All Sorors stood for the singing of Lift Every Voice and Sing led by the ZCO Chorale. Greetings: Soror Jessica Sims, Hodegos Introduction of visiting sorors. Visitors included: Soror Sonja Cooke, Soror Kenda Layne, Soror Christine Stevenson, Soror Oritta Essien, Soror Kenda Gusme, Soror Lisa M. Hathaway, Soror Aretha Ballen, Soror Sherri Eggleston Lucas, Soror Ashley Riggs, Soror Fitima Muhammad Troy, Soror Marion Irene Smith, Soror Amber Hagen, Soror Beverly Bunch-Lyons, Soror Jacenta Collins, and Soror Maru David. Quorum: Soror Yvette Darnaby, Philacter Zeta Chi Omega 130 sorors present; quorum established. Adoption of Agenda Correction: Soror Undra Graves Guyton will present the Sisterly Relations Report. MOTION: Soror Barbara Bellamy Warren moved to adopt the agenda with the noted correction. Motion seconded. Call for the vote. Motion carried. Presented Sorors Ester Stubbs-Varnado and Linda Hall gift bags for completing the Heart Health Step Challenge of at least 11,908 steps on February 3, 2017. Congratulated all February birthday celebrants Announced that the February birthdays will be celebrated at the Sisterly Love Brunch immediately following the Chapter meeting, at Joe Theismann s Restaurant in Alexandria. All Sorors are welcomed to attend. The cost is $18. Graduate Advisor: Soror VaShawn Guice Veal Presented written report Reported on the status and update of Sigma Alpha Chapter STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS Membership: Soror Tonya Perkinson, Chairman Presented written report Report in the Ivyette Reported that Zeta Chi Omega Chapter has been approved for Graduate MIP Discussed Key Events and Dates MOTION: By the direction of the Executive Committee, it is moved that the Chapter accept the Membership Committee s recommendation of the schedule of Key Events and Dates for the 2017 Graduate MIP. Call for the vote. Motion carried. MOTION: By the direction of the Executive Committee, it is moved that the Chapter moved our Executive Committee Meeting to June 8, 2017, and the Chapter General Membership Meeting to June 10, 2017. Call for the vote. Motion carried. Awards: Soror Tifani Burgess Presented written report Report in the Ivyette 3

The 2016 Awards Committee made the following recommendations to the current criteria for chapter awards: Attendance Award-In addition to attending the most chapter events; add chapter meetings. Ms. Pink and Green Award-Clarify the criteria by adding New chapter Soror, recently initiated or transferred, who has been in the Chapter less than 5 years.. Soror of the Year Award-Provide written justification highlighting how the Soror has given extensively of herself to the Sorority, including participation in specific activities and events for the given year Unsung Hero Award- Change name to read Unsung Soror Award MOTION: By the direction of the Executive Committee, it is moved that the Chapter accept the 2016 Awards Committee recommendations. Call for the vote. Motion carried. Connections: Soror LaFrances Williams, Chairman Presented written report Report in the Ivyette Stated that the membership will focus on building Connection strategies which concentrate on advocating, monitoring and responding to change. AD HOC COMMITTEE REPORTS EAF: Soror Nelfred Tilly Blanding, Chapter Captain Continued collection of $19.80 per soror for the 3 rd EAF (Educational Advancement Foundation) Chapter Challenge Report in the Ivyette Mentoring: Soror Michelle Jones, Chairman Presented written report Explained purpose of the Mentoring Committee and solicited for additional members The Mentoring Program will be comprised of 3 types of participants: Committee Members, Mentors, and Mentees. Sisterly Relations- Soror Undra Graves Guyton- Co-Chairman Presented written report. Reported over 355 people, including sorors, family, and friends were in attendance at the sold-out viewing of Hidden Figures on International Sisterly Relations Day on January 15, 2017. Announced Sisterly Love Brunch will be held in conjunction with the Birthday Brunch after Chapter meeting at Joe Theismann s Restaurant in Alexandria. The cost is $18 with a select menu to choose. A cake and small favors of love will be provided. UNFINISHED BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS MARC Transportation: Presented by Soror Sharon Gregg 4

A bus is being secured for transportation to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference in Raleigh, NC. The bus will leave on Thursday, April 27, 2017, and return on Sunday, April 30, 2017. The ticket cost is $77 roundtrip and at least 55 sorors are needed to purchase tickets. ANNOUNCEMENTS IFNV-Soror Linda Hall The 2017 Debutante Cotillion Ball is Saturday, April 1, 2017. Sorors are encouraged to purchase a ticket to the ball for $80 and/or purchase an ad or patron in the souvenir journal. There are 6 prospective debutantes. June 9, 2017- Summer Nights with Diamonds and Pearls - Joint fundraiser with IFNV and the Alexandria- Fairfax Alumni Chapter Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund (KSEF) at Camelot in Upper Marlboro, MD. Cost- $60 per ticket Time and Place: The next General Membership meeting will be held on March 4, 2017 at the Nannie J. Lee Center at 10:00 am.
