08 Manufacturing & Process As well as sourcing furniture from trusted partners in Italy, Hill Cross also specialises in manufacturing a wide variety of bespoke commissions. Based at our UK headquarters, this affords us full control of complex, time-critical projects and ensures delivery is on time and on specification. Each commission is assigned a dedicated consultant, allowing the team to forge a close understanding of the design brief. We can then visualize your concept using CAD technology to create a personalized plan of the project. 10 Production Capability In recent years, Hill Cross Furniture has heavily invested in manufacturing facilities. This includes two spacious new workshops as well as upgraded CNC capacity. By taking control of the entire manufacturing process, we are able to satisfy the technical demands of manufacturing, address control on production schedules and achieve our client s exact expectations. Our process is designed to ensure constant, high-quality production and flawless design. 12 International Standards Finish & Fabrics Hill Cross Furniture has been approved by QMS International, based on standards for the supply, design and manufacturer of contract furniture to the hospitality and healthcare industries in the UK and the rest of the world. As standard, we recommend all of our fabrics are crib 5 rated and our suppliers meet strict specifications to satisfy either Italian (CATAS) or British (BS) standards. 14 Sustainability Delivery The Hill Cross Organisation is committed to achieving a sustainable business practice. We ensure we meet the industry standard and endeavour to reduce our carbon emissions and energy conservation throughout our process, be it our manufacturing division, finishes and fabrics, shipment and delivery. Our headquarters and manufacturing premises in the UK are powered by 198kW Guntamatic Biocom biomass boilers that use wood pellets sustainably sourced from a local supplier. Both the manufacturing facilities and showroom run from this boiler, as well as the office heating which has been converted from electric. Biomass is a sustainable fuel that can deliver a significant reduction in net carbon emissions when compared with fossil fuels. Solar PV Panels have been fitted throughout the headquarters generating a power source whilst not generating the greenhouse gases which cause pollution. Each killowatt-peak (kwp) of electricity produced can save approximately 455 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions compared with electricity generated from fossil fuels. We pride ourselves on offering an unparalleled delivery service with a logistics system coordinating all aspects of your shipping requirements. As standard for domestic projects, we utilise our dedicated inhouse team who will deliver, install your furniture and remove all packaging. We work closely with our international shipping partners for all overseas projects and are fully equipped to handle the associated paperwork and Euro One clearance when necessary. 16 Company History Hill Cross Furniture is a family business established in 2000. Richard Barker, sole owner, has since grown the company into the multi-million pound enterprise it is today, employing professionals specialising in sales, design, finance and marketing as well as a team of highly skilled craftsmen who are instrumental in bringing our bespoke commissions to life. The company enjoyed substantial growth after investing heavily into the its manufacturing facilities, and has since secured international contracts with GMT Group, Marriott, Hilton, The Priory Group, Nando s and Pizza Express, as well as a host of independent and boutique projects. Hill Cross Furniture has grown with a unique emphasis on individual customer service. Combined knowledge means every aspect of a project is covered - from CAD design & bespoke manufacture to expert upholstery, advice through to aftersales care. 22 Case Study Waldorf Hilton, UK This exclusive hotel is in the heart of London and is steeped in Edwardian tradition. Built in 1908, this Grade II listed hotel offers proximity to the attractions and delights of London including West End shows and the best restaurants London has to offer. Hill Cross furnished Good Godfrey s bar and lounge which proudly takes its name from the former leader of the Waldorf House band, Howard Godfrey. Working alongside award winning international design company designlsm Hill Cross supplied the furniture for the bar including armchairs and bar stools from trusted Italian suppliers, upholstered in only the highest quality contract grade fabrics to capture the timeless quality of the hotel and bar and enable patrons to relax in style. Once again Hill Cross Furniture have been fantastic at providing the products we need at the quality we expect for the Waldorf Hilton, Good Godfreys bar. 24 Case Study Il Milione, Hong Kong Il Milione is Michelin-starred chef Marco Gubbiotti s, first Asian venture. Hong Kong is renowned for its vibrant restaurant scene and placed firmly in the league of Italian eateries is the newly launched Il Milione. The design brief was concise: to create a chic and elegant restaurant paired with a classic cocktail lounge. This spectacular restaurant is every bit chic and elegant in its final form. Hill Cross supplied the loose chairs and tables for the space. The low ceiling and limited natural light was overcome by the innovative use of mirrors and reflective ceiling fixtures accentuating the space. Hill Cross supplied various bespoke furniture. Tormalina Side Chairs were used throughout the dining area, teamed with Toby bar stools. The wrap around wenge dining chairs were upholstered with two fabrics, the seat front, a sultry leather and the back, a striking, decadent patterned fabric, piped and finished with the contrasting shade. Arabesco marble table tops and bases were used throughout the space. A sizable private dining table was custom built with Zimbabwe honed black granite, to seat twelve. The unusual shape with brass edge is a striking 3m in length weighing 800kg. International Design and Architecture Awards 2013 WINNER Best Restaurant IL MILIONE, HONG KONG Bar & Restaurant

26 Case Study Funicular, Georgia The Funicular building built in Tbilisi, Georgia has a rich history beginning in 1900 with the conception of the funicular railway line. GMT Group, one of Georgia s leading investment companies started to restore the building in 2009 and it is now a thriving Restaurant Complex.Overlooking stunning views of Tbilisi from the Mtatsminda hilltop and featuring an original fresco created by artist Koka Ignatov, it was important that the interior of the restaurant was completed to a high standard and accentuated these features. Funicular, home to five restaurants across three floors, has been a large scale international success for Hill Cross Furniture. The project has been predominantly bespoke, featuring vibrant and sumptuous deep buttoned seating in each individual themed space. The relaxed casual eatery, The Chela Steak House restaurant, features a mix of bright booth seating, custom benches and industrial metal edged tables. On the next floor, in contrast, the grand Funicular Restaurant is fine dining at it s best, complete with large curved booths in royal green, marble table tops and luxury dining chairs. The custom made banquette seating extends even to the vast picturesque balconies, manufactured in outdoor water-resistant fabrics. The rows of free standing banquettes dominate the seating space amongst the panoramic backdrop from this prestigious building. The Funicular Lounge & Bar on the second floor features the restored mural by Ignatov. Lounge chairs and bespoke brass side tables surround the central freestanding banquette with feature angular high back. Richard Barker, MD for Hill Cross Furniture spoke about the project, Funicular has been a stand out international project for Hill Cross; coordinating a large scale intricate project of this level and detail has been an accomplishment.
