Design information Flue gas system According to EN 13384 and DIN 18160, flue gases must be expelled by the flue gas system to the outdoors and must be sufficiently protected against cooling down, so that the precipitation of vaporised flue gas components inside the chimney will not create any risks. The Vitorond 100 operates with low flue gas temperatures, therefore the flue gas system must match the boiler characteristics. With traditional, uninsulated or poorly thermally insulated chimneys with an oversized cross-section (chimneys which are not moisture-resistant), the flue gas cools down too quickly, condenses and can lead to chimney saturation. The use of a combined draught stabiliser is particularly advantageous (see register 9), which in most cases can prevent the chimney from becoming saturated with moisture. If the required cross-section lies between two diameters, select the larger diameter. It should be at least the same size as the diameter of the flue outlet. Connecting piece The connecting piece from the boiler to the chimney must be implmented in the diameter of the flue outlet and must follow the shortest possible route to the chimney. Install no more than two bends into this connecting piece, to avoid impeding the flue gas flow. Two horizontally arranged 90 bends should be avoided. The connecting piece must be sealed at the joints and at the cleaning aperture. The test port should be sealed. Provide the connecting piece between the boiler flue outlet and the chimney with thermal insulation. We recommend you seek the advice of your local flue gas inspector. Selection of rated output Select a boiler according to the required heat demand including DHW heating. The rated output for low temperature boilers, condensing boilers and multi-boiler systems may be higher than the calculated heat demand of the building in question. The level of efficiency of low temperature boilers is consistent across a wide boiler load range. Clearance towards the fuel tank Nowhere on this combustion device will a maximum surface temperature of 40 C be exceeded. Consequently, a minimum clearance of 0.1 m between the combustion equipment and the fuel tank is sufficient. Fuel Never use bio fuels, combustion improvers or fuel oil additives that could produce residues. Installation of a suitable burner The burner must be suitable for the respective rated output and the pressure drop on the hot gas side of the boiler (see burner manufacturer's specification). The material of the burner head must be suitable for operating temperatures of at least 500 ºC. Pressure-jet oil burner The burner must be tested and designated to EN 267. Pressure-jet gas burner The burner must be tested to EN 676 and CE-designated in accordance with Directive 90/396/EEC. Burner adjustment Adjust the oil or gas throughput of the burner to the rated boiler output. System design The boiler water temperature is limited to 75 C. The boiler water temperature and the flow temperature can be raised by adjusting the thermostat. To minimise distribution losses, we recommend that you size the heat distribution system and the DHW heating system for a max. flow temperature of 70 C. Safety equipment Equip these boilers with a type-tested safety valve in accordance with EN 12828 for hot water heating systems with a safety temperature of up to 110 C. This must be identified in accordance with TRD 721 as follows: & "H" up to 3.0 bar permissible operating pressure and max. 2700 kw rated output & "D/G/H" for all other operating conditions. 6 VIESMANN VITOROND 100
Design information (cont.) Heating circuits For heating systems with plastic pipes, we recommend the use of impermeable pipes to prevent the diffusion of oxygen through the pipe walls. Provide system separation in heating systems with plastic pipes to DIN 4726 that are permeable to oxygen. We deliver a separate heat exchanger for this. Underfloor heating systems and heating circuits with very large water content, even for low and ultra-low temperature boilers, should be connected to the boiler via a four-way mixer; see technical guide on "Control of underfloor heating systems". Install a temperature limiter into the flow of the underfloor heating circuit to limit the maximum temperature. Observe the requirements of DIN 18560-2 [or local regulations]. Plastic pipework for radiators We also recommend the installation of a control thermostat to limit the maximum temperature of plastic pipes in heating circuits with radiators. Low water indicator According to EN 12828, a special low water level protection is not required for boilers up to 300 kw (except in attic heating centres), as long as heating can be reliably prevented when the water level is too low. These boilers are equipped with type-tested control thermostats and high limit safety cut-outs. Tests have verified that the burner will be automatically switched OFF in the event of water shortage due to a leak in the heating system and simultaneous burner operation, before the boiler or flue systems reach unacceptably high temperatures. System water quality If the fill and top-up water volume exceeds three times the water content of the heating system during the lifespan of the system or the specific system volume exceeds 20 l/kw, soften the heating water for boilers with a rated output in excess of 50 kw in accordance with VDI 2035-1 [or local regulations], if the total alkaline earths exceed 2.0 mol/m³. For further details regarding the water quality requirements, see the technical guide "Standard values for water quality". Tested quality CE designation according to current EC Directives.
