Property An impressive 1930s five-bedroom sea facing home situated on Ramsgate's prestigious Royal Esplanade on an elevated, private, spacious plot with the benefit of a large garden and large detached double garage with simple accommodation above. The house comprises an entrance hall leading to a cloakroom/wc, family/television room, a formal dining room, a lounge overlooking the beautiful established garden as well as a kitchen/breakfast room with adjoining utility room. To the first floor there are five bedrooms, the master benefiting from a large en-suite plus a modern family bathroom. The two largest bedrooms have access to a south facing balcony. The sunny aspect property has a sea facing terrace with panoramic sea and coastal views beyond the pretty well-maintained Rose Gardens. To the rear of the property the large garden is split level with raised vegetable beds, an array of shrubs and flowers plus a summer house located on a raised deck overlooking a pretty pond. Hidden from view, a secret trap door leads to a former air raid shelter, there is double side access, a garden shed and greenhouse. This extensive family home would suit keen gardeners, those who enjoy entertaining, sun worshipers and those who wish to relax whilst overlooking the ever changing coastal view, which on a clear day will include the French Coast. Local schools include Chilton Primary, Christchurch, Townsend Montessori as well as Chatham & Clarendon Grammar School. Head east from the house for cliff top walks leading down to Ramsgates Royal Harbour or head west to Pegwell village to enjoy food and drink whilst overlooking Pegwell Bay from the Bellevue or Sir Stanley Gray public houses.
Our Time Here Seacroft is in a lovely, quiet setting, with stunning views across the Channel to France on a clear day and of the ferries coming out of Dover. A pleasant walk along the promenade takes us into Ramsgate for the shops or something to eat, the restaurants have gone up in boundless numbers in the 20 years we have lived here. We can also walk into Broadstairs where we love to pop out for a coffee. This is a wonderful family home, with plenty of room to accommodate guests and you can entertain everyone comfortably we have hosted 26 people in the dining room before now. The space we have is so versatile, the dining room and sitting room are the same size, both with garden access, one to the front and the other to the back so when the doors are open it feels like one large area. The kitchen is a fantastic room, with plenty of space for preparation and a dining table. We love spending time in our south-facing garden, sitting by the summerhouse with a glass of wine, listening to the peaceful sounds of the waterfall from our fish pond. Underneath the deck and greenhouse, we have an air raid shelter which we use as a wine cellar which is something we will certainly miss! Enjoying the surrounding towns from here is so easy, we spend time visiting a whole host of places with our grandchildren, wildlife parks at Wingham or Howletts, nature reserves, the Spitfire & Hurricane Memorial Museum, Whitstable or Canterbury, there is always something to do. Above all we are going to miss the space here not just in the house but the bedroom with an en-suite above the double garage, an ideal space to be self-contained or to keep the party outdoors when we are entertaining guests!
