Happy New Year & Happy Spring to All! by Ron Naldoza, President ISA Las Vegas Section I hope everybody had a wonderful Holiday with family and friends. Jeff Blue & I had the opportunity to attend last November s Fall Leaders Conference in Nashville, TN to sit and vote at the Council of Society Delegates. It was my first experience to participate in the conference and I was honored to meet our fellow District 11 Leaders. We voted on 7 motions to changes of ISA s bylaws, one of which involves adding division delegates to have a vote at the CSD. This motion was voted No by majority rule. Most of us felt that the Section is the lifeblood of ISA and saw no benefit of adding a division delegate. Additionally, at our District meeting, we nominated and elected Jeff for District VP- Elect. Congratulations Jeff! Aside from that, Jeff and I had some free time to visit with Stan Spence, our Past President who now resides in Nashville. We will miss him and we wish him and his family the best of luck in their new hometown. We re looking forward to holding section activities and especially our annual Fall Classic Tabletop Show in October. Speaking of activities, please feel free to let me know if you have any ideas or Continued on page 2 March - April 2014 ISA Newsletters, Southern District 11 1

ISA Las Vegas President Ron.Naldoza@gmail.com (702) 274-1201 Message from the District Vice President I am honored and humbled to serve ISA district 11 as DVP for the next two years. How time flies... I still remember years ago when Raj Adani the Orange County section Nominator at the time asked me if I would be willing to volunteer to the Orange County Section as Program Chair, I was excited to take on the challenge but never thought I would stick with ISA as long as I have. I served the Orange County Section as Programs chair for a year, then as treasurer for two years, then president elect, then president, and now past president and DVP... It happened that fast. I think anyone who has been a member or leader of ISA for years will agree that it just grows on you, you start to look forward to the meetings, the relationships both personal and professional, the teamwork, the growing as a professional in automation, the leadership skills, and seeing the impact that ISA makes to student organizations. As of January 1, 2014 Gary Campbell the previous DVP for district 11 has now completed his assignment as DVP and he is now appointed as the District 11 Nominator. I want to take a moment to thank Gary for all his hard work and dedication to ISA and district 11. I look forward to working with Gary in his new role as nominator. ISA Instructor-Led Training ISA is recognized worldwide as a leader in non-biased, vendor-neutral education and training programs for automation professionals. Industry professionals, whether an experienced engineer, practicing technician, or newcomer to the industry, can hone their skills at ISA s regional training centers, through onsite training programs at their company, or via distance education. Many ISA courses are lab intensive to reinforce important skills. ISA s extensive instructor-led curriculum is organized in three training paths. Although ISA s certification programs for technicians and automation professionals are not tied directly to ISA s training courses, the training paths are designed to cover the body of knowledge for technicians and automation professionals and can be helpful to those preparing for certification as a PE, CAP or CCST.
