3 Acoustic Fan Unit We have brought together over 20 years experience in noise control and built this into the design and development of our fan units, enabling us to offer the best acoustic performance of any fan unit on the market. All units are manufactured with a double skinned galvanised sheet steel cabinet style casing. This method of construction makes for a more robust unit and offers a greater level of insulation and sound proofing from the noise of the unit in operation. Using a patented design, fan motors within the case are mounted on a floated deck which is isolated from the rest of the casing. This feature minimises transmission of vibration and acoustic energy through the unit s casing. Our thorough approach to noise control on the inside of the unit means that Caice supply a complete solution which is ready to install. This removes the need for ancillary vibration isolators or flexible connections which increase costs and the complexity of installation. 4 Performance The Caice Evolution Acoustic Fan Unit range consists of nine duty fan configurations, and four run & standby units. Duty fan models handle air volumes of up to 1.5m³/s whilst run & standby models handle up to 0.75m³/s. Full details on the performance characteristics of the units in the range are available in our separate technical data brochure. Component Options The Evolution fan unit range also offers a number of supplementary component options. Heating, cooling and frost protection requirements can be catered for by adding CHW, LPHW or DX heat exchanger coils, or electric heating elements. To assist in maintaining air quality, we offer EU4 panel filters and EU6 bag filters, which will suit most applications. An EU2 wire framed filter option is also available for units operating in internal air recirculation applications. Shut-off dampers can be provided to assist in preventing unwanted draughts when the unit is not in operation. Supplementary Attenuation Helps Evolution Acoustic Fan Units achieve noise levels as low as NR25. Matching Attenuation The innovative product design extends to our range of supplementary attenuation. Rectangular attenuators with casing construction matching that of the fan box enables our units to meet stringent noise criteria as low as NR25. Rectangular attenuators have been optimised to balance the attenuation performance offered against the additional pressure loss imposed. Certain fan models are available with optional circular connections. Our circular attenuators with a straight through design provide attenuation without imposing additional resistance to airflow.
5 Efficient, Reliable & Compliant Caice Fan Units are designed and built for efficiency, reliability and full compliance with building regulations. All units comprise Electronically Commutated (EC) fans. These units are up to 70% more energy efficient at providing the same duty when compared to their AC equivalent. With negligible amounts of heat being generated whilst running, this leads to better performance and longer life expectancy of the unit. Intelligent automatic control of the motors in our twin fan units provides built-in redundancy for greater reliability, further extending the unit s service life. The efficiency characteristics of Caice s Fan Units naturally lead to full compliance with Document L of the Building Regulations & combine to provide a lower total cost of ownership. Ongoing maintenance of any unit is easy thanks to simplified double skinned access panels which allow straightforward inspection or replacement of fan motors. Above EC fan motors can help to deliver significant cost savings Below Efficient and quiet running make Caice s Evolution Fan Units ideal for inclusion in school ventilation systems
6 Efficient, Reliable & Compliant Caice s Evolution Fan Units Changeover and Duty Sharing Our run & standby units are provided with an automatic changeover control as standard. In the event of a fan motor failure the automatic changeover controller senses that the motor is no longer running and automatically switches over to the second fan. Fault signalling on the controller indicates that one of the fans has failed and that the unit requires maintenance. The controller can also be used in duty share mode. A user defined time period of up to 31 hours can be set. In this configuration, the unit will operate the run fan until it has accumulated the preset time period, after which it will automatically switch to the standby fan to continue to provide the desired duty. In addition, this package will also provide for local or remote fan speed control options and unit enabling. From full BMS to standalone applications, Caice fan unit controls can be configured to meet your needs. Variable Air Volume When used in conjunction with a Building Management System (BMS) our fan units fully support Variable Air Volume (VAV) operation leading to further efficiency gains. Operating in this mode & triggered by sensors connected to a BMS, the fan unit s motor speed can be adjusted using a 0 to 10V DC signal. Responding to environmental conditions means that under normal requirements the fan motors can often be run below full design duty. This is particularly beneficial when a space is unoccupied, allowing a substantial reduction in speed leading to significant energy savings along with reduced noise levels. Equally fan speed can be increased to provide additional ventilation for higher duty requirements when the space is occupied.
