Managing the effects of climate change as a task for local authorities Wednesday, 9th April 2014, 10.00 a.m. 00.30 p.m. At all levels from global to local climate change is seen as one of the biggest challenges of the future. This applies above all to densely populated areas located in coastal regions and/or on riverbanks. Against this background local authorities have already begun implementing preventive measures. Alongside the gradual changes in the urban climate, heavy rainfall will occur more frequently in almost all parts of Germany in the coming decades. Integrated adaptation concepts will create the basis for protecting citizens against extreme climatic effects and flood damage. What priorities are municipalities now setting in the area of climate change management? How can climate protection and climate change management be intermeshed? At Forum III the focus will be on specific application scenarios and recommended courses of action.
