At IKEA, we ve got kitchens covered A guide and checklist to planning your new kitchen Before coming in-store to buy your IKEA kitchen, follow the steps on our simple checklist. It ll help make the entire experience quicker and easier. Name: Date:
Decide what s staying and going Make a list of the functional things in your kitchen that you d like to keep, and the things you d happily get rid of. Things I want to keep (e.g. current kitchen island, fridge, rangehood) Things I don t want to keep (e.g. sink, oven, cabinets) Attach photos of your kitchen Take some photos of your kitchen s current layout. These will help when discussing your new kitchen in-store with our Kitchen Specialists.
Figure out the space you re working with Measure your kitchen. Then measure it again. Checklist Measure the entire length and height of your walls. Measure the horizontal distance from the corners to the doors. Measure anything that protrudes into the room from the floor, ceilings or walls. e.g. ventilation shafts, pipes. Be sure to also check inside and behind appliances, cabinets and furniture. Get exact measurements of the space in your kitchen and record them by drawing up a layout on the following blueprint page. Measure each window and its distance from the floor, ceiling and edges of the wall. Also note the thickness of the window frame. Do the same for the door, and the thickness of the doorframe. Measure and note the position of existing power outlets and light switches. Also note where you d like new ones to be. Mark out the positions of your drains and water supply. If you re planning to move these, mark down their new positions. Measure the size of anything that s staying from your list on the previous page.
Draw up your current kitchen layout Example Use this page to draw a rough layout of your kitchen. Don t forget to include exact measurements, and positions of drains, power outlets etc.
