Project Plan Project Subject/Topic: The Kelvin Grove Urban Village (KGUV) Festival is an annual event held in Kelvin Grove which expands on the weekly Saturday markets held on Blamey St. every saturday morning. The KGUV is known for its ability to attract creative people interested in the arts, technology and culture. The village is also known for its focus on ecological sustainable development which aims for long term environmental, social and economical sustainability. As such the KGUV Festival is about showcasing the local community s ability to provide a sustainable environment for people interested in the arts, technology and culture whilst also providing an opportunity for those in the community to become involved in local businesses and ventures. It is also an opportunity to showcase the area as a suitable environment for bringing up kids who are interested in the arts. Style Guide Font: The font used through the communication materials is called Gautami. It is a sans-serif font. This font was used because it is a clean font which goes with the clean environmental theme of the communication materials. It is also good incase the materials are read on online counterparts to the magazines it will be featured on. Colour: Key Message: The key message of the KGUV Festival communication materials is that that festival is a fun and unique event which showcases the creative spirit of the area and how that creativity is also able to help the community move forward. The Key message of these communication materials is to highlight the theme of sustaining creativity. What this means is that these materials are used to communicate to the audience that the Kelvin Grove area is an area that actively supports creative projects and that these projects are able to sustain growth economically. Audience: The Audience for these materials consist of local residents, local businesses, students from the local university and also people from around the area that contribute or are interested in possibly relocating to the area. Where will the Design by Published/Distributed? The design will be published in local interest magazines that reach wider audiences such as QWeekend. Magazines with glossy pages is preferred to make the colours used in the designs to be more vibrant. R: 81 G:190 B: 230 R: 151 G:202 B: 61 R: 81 G:190 B: 230 The colours used throughout the designs are light blue, light green and yellow. The light blue is associated with health, healing, air and sky (Color Meaning, n.d.) and this is relevant with the audience who are interested in the environment and sustainability. Light blue is the colour of a clear sky and and clear skies are associated with healthy air with minimal air polution. The light green was used because green is associated with stability and endurance (Color Meaning, n.d.) and this is appropriate with the long-term sustainability of the Kelvin Grove Urban Village Festival. Green is also frequently used to represent the environment and maintaining a clean environment is important to the target audience. Yellow was used because it represents the sun, it goes with the environmental theme. All three colours are light because it represents how fun the festival will be and also by using these colours it also has a connection to art and creativity.

Justification Using white space is a good way to separate the elements of the design and create a cleaner look (Cronin, 2009). These designs use white space to separate elements of the design and to avoid a cluttered look. It also uses colour to an interesting way to make the design more interesting. The light blue at the top of the page represents a clear sky and the green at the bottom represents the environment. The colours fade away at the body of the article to keep a black text on white background to maintain good legibility. It uses the faded colour look which is also slightly angled to avoid looking too rigid, which could hamper the creativity aspect the subject. These colours with the fade and angle are used in all the designs to create a common look with all communications materials which creates strengthens the brand image.
