Warm water underfloor heating from Nu-Heat Underfloor heating is an established and efficient method of providing warmth. Heating from the floor improves comfort, there is no intrusion on wall or floor space and running costs are kept low. Nu-Heat is a leading supplier of warm water underfloor heating (UFH) in the UK since 1992 we have successfully designed and supplied over 60,000 bespoke UFH systems. Our core principles of design, innovation, expertise and service underpin everything we do. High quality design, award-winning products that are independently tested for performance, free technical support and excellent customer service come as standard. Conservatories, extensions and single rooms can also enjoy the quality of a Nu-Heat UFH system, condensed in a simple-to-install package that integrates seamlessly with an existing radiator system a OneZone. Even highly glazed areas or those with lower levels of insulation can enjoy the benefits of UFH with Nu-Heat s LoPro Max solution. PO N E N WE R 1kW 2.5 E kw 3.5 kw What makes underfloor heating better than radiators? Warming from the floor up is more comfortable it feels natural. Radiators heat the air by convection, drawing cold air across the floor and up to the ceiling causing draughts and cold spots. In contrast, UFH produces mainly radiant warmth an even distribution of heat from the floor upwards, which means that feet are gently warmed whilst the head is cool, creating ideal comfort conditions. Gentle, even, radiant heat with low humidity Less circulation of dust Comfort no stuffiness, draughts or cold spots Quick and easy to install Design freedom no restrictions on placement of furniture Around 25% more efficient than radiators How underfloor heating works UFH works by circulating temperature controlled warm water from a normal central heating boiler, through joint-less plastic tubing embedded in the floor. The floor temperature needs to be raised only a few degrees above the room temperature to maintain an effective comfort level. These low flow temperatures allow boilers to work more efficiently and keep fuel bills down. Warm water UFH linked to a gas boiler is also approximately one-third of the cost to run of an equivalent electric UFH mat. A OneZone can be quickly and easily integrated into any existing heating system. The pack contains all controls, the right amount of flexible Fastflo floor heating tube and a suitable fixing system for the individual project. The installation instructions are comprehensive and fully illustrated making UFH simple to install in any project. Warm water control Nu-Heat s OneZone systems take water from the existing boiler/heating system, pass it through a control unit and then pump it directly to the Fastflo underfloor heating tube. A simple wall-mounted thermostat allows the temperature to be set in the room to ensure complete comfort. Choosing the right solution New LoPro Max OneZone Specifically designed for retrofit, kitchens, bathrooms, extensions, conservatories and properties with lower levels of insulation. An UFH system specifically designed for retrofit projects and rooms that need a very high heat output because of large areas of glazing or minimal insulation, such as wetrooms, garden rooms/conservatories and also kitchens or a new extension. With just 22mm height build up, a castellated panel is laid over the existing floor structure to hold the Fastflo floor heating tube in place whilst the LoPro QuickSet self-levelling compound supplied with the system is poured. Compatible with carpets, tiles, stone, engineered hardwood and vinyl floor finishes. Key facts Outstanding thermal conductivity heat outputs up to 120W/m 2 Fast response time equivalent to that of a traditional radiator system Fastflo floor heating tube 10mm Fastflo floor heating tube is fully compliant with all relevant British and European standards and delivers outstanding heating performance: Smaller diameter designed with shorter coil lengths and closer spacing so warmth is spread more evenly Faster response times rooms heat quickly and more efficiently Quick installation the flexibility of the pipe keeps installation costs low Nu-Heat control unit The OneZone control unit consists of: Energy-efficient floor heating pump Temperature gauge Water temperature control valve Automatic bypass valve Drain-offs, hose connectors & leak-proof caps to enable simple commissioning Distributor assemblies Accurate floor temperature control thermostat (supplied with LoPro Max OneZone system only) Thermostat Nu-Heat supplies a mains voltage thermostat that allows individual programming of the room zone and features a backlit screen for easy use. 5/2 day or 7 day programming 4 heating periods Temperature override Frost protection Requires 230v power supply Additional features of programmable thermostat supplied with LoPro Max OneZone system Holiday & keylock functions Temperature hold function Built in air sensor Floor temperature control thermostat as standard (see floor coverings section) Just 22mm average height increase over existing floor level Direct replacement for a radiator system Provides a perfectly level floor surface ideal for laying tile and stone floor finishes Simple and quick to install High compressive strength One-third of the running cost of electric UFH Fast drying time can be walked on after just 8 hours Can be controlled by an existing timeclock no need to change existing wiring or heating controls Can be plumbed directly into an existing radiator system Available in packs sizes from 4m 2-60m 2 * Thermostat shown supplied with LoPro Max OneZone system Locating the components The control unit can be fitted directly into the room to be heated or in a convenient place elsewhere in the building, for example an airing cupboard or utility room. The room temperature thermostat is often fitted next to a light switch. 6 For expert advice call us on 01404 540650 7

Controlling room temperature & timings With a Nu-Heat OneZone, there are two alternative ways of controlling the times at which warmth is available in the room. Performance & insulation Nu-Heat s OneZone solutions can provide heating of up to 120 Watts per square metre of floor area, depending on which system is chosen. OPTION 1 Connect to existing radiator system A OneZone can be simply connected to an existing radiator system and use the existing heating timer as its master control. With this option, the thermostat supplied with the system will be able to call for heat in the room during the times set on the master control. The UFH will switch off when the correct temperature is reached within these times. With response times equivalent to those of a radiator system, this method is ideal for use with LoPro Max. OPTION 2 Bypass the existing system controls It is also possible to bypass any existing heating controls so that the UFH can operate independently. This option is more suitable for large rooms or new extensions where independent control of the heating is preferred. This is normally more than sufficient to provide room temperature without supplementary heating. However, always ensure that the heat output from the floor meets the heat loss of the structure in extreme weather conditions, especially in highly glazed areas such as conservatories. Heating response times vary between the OneZone systems but in all cases the thermostat can be set to provide warmth when it is needed. Floor coverings A wide range of floor coverings can be used. For optimum performance, hard surfaces such as ceramic tiles, slate, stone and marble are recommended as they provide the best transfer of heat. Nu-Heat is always happy to advise on any aspect of floor coverings. For more information visit the website at www.nu-heat.co.uk/ floorcoverings carpet tiles engineered hardwood How to order 1 2 Measure the floor area carefully. Order a pack equivalent to the measured floor area or nearest pack size up. Packs are supplied in various sizes to suit both small and large projects. Save 5% by ordering online www.nu-heat.co.uk/onezone or alternatively contact Nu-Heat on 01404 540650 The low surface temperature of UFH presents no problem with carpet, engineered timber and vinyl floor coverings. Where carpets are chosen, it is recommended that the combined value of carpet and underlays does not exceed 2.5-tog, in order to maintain the efficiency of the UFH. A floor-temperature limiting thermostat is supplied with LoPro Max OneZone systems, to be used where sensitive material such as vinyl, linoleum and engineered timber, which have a maximum floor temperature of 27 C, are chosen. 14 For expert advice call us on 01404 540650 15
