Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to an authorized service facility for examination, repair, or electrical or mechanical adjustment. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven. The use of accessory attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury. Do not use outdoors. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces, including the stove. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids. Do not use this appliance for other then intended use. To disconnect turn any control to OFF before unplugging the appliance from wall outlet. Always hold the plug, never pull the cord. Piercing Pin underneath the Measuring Cup is sharp. Handle with care. The appliance must not be immersed in water. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. A) B) C) A short power-supply cord is to be provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a extension cord is used: 1) The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance; ) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.. Before Your First Use Carefully unpack the Egg Boiler and remove all packaging materials. Wash all removable parts (Egg Tray, Poached Egg Tray, Lid, and Measuring Cup) and clean according to the Care & Cleaning instructions in this manual. Table of Contents Wolfgang Puck, owner of the famous Spago restaurants and one of the most influential chef-restauranteurs in America, is credited with reviving California s rich culinary heritage. His cooking innovations, a result of blending fresh California ingredients with his classical French techniques, are enjoyed by world leaders, stars and fellow chefs alike. He established other trend-setting restaurants like Postrio in San Francisco, Chinois on Main in Santa Monica, Trattoria del Lupo, Cut, and his latest creation, Jai, an Asian fusion restaurant in San Diego. Home chefs can also share Mr. Puck s talents through his cookbooks, cutlery, cookware and, of course, through his appliances! A) Using the Measuring Cup 1 5 6 B) 1 Using Your Egg Boiler for Boiled Eggs You can use this Egg Boiler to cook up to 7 boiled eggs to your desired doneness. Prepare the eggs by piercing a small hole at one end, using the Piecing Pin underneath the Measuring Cup. Place the eggs in the Egg Tray. The piercing is necessary in order to prevent the eggs from cracking during cooking. There are ways to set the cooking time: Turn the Timer Knob on the Base fully clockwise. The markings on the Measuring Cup indicate the amount of water needed to cook the eggs. Fill up the cup with tap water to the desired level. Pour the water into the Boiling Plate of the Base. For hard-boiled eggs, use 1-1/ cups of water, or fill to the "max" marking on the Boiling Plate. Properly place the tray of eggs onto the Base then cover with Lid. Switch the appliance ON. When the water boils dry, the heating element will switch off and the eggs are done. Using the Electronic Timer Fill the Boiling Plate with water to the "max" marking. Set the desired cooking time by turning the Timer Knob on the Base. Properly place the tray of eggs onto the Base the cover with Lid. Switch the appliance ON. When cooking is complete, a beep will sound. Switch OFF the appliance. Carefully remove the Lid by grabbing the plastic tab on top. Remove the Lid away from your body and face to avoid any burns from the hot steam. Remove the tray of eggs and immerse in cold water to help separate the shell from the egg. Using Your Egg Boiler for Poached Eggs Place the Poached Egg Tray onto the Boiled Egg Tray. Up to poached eggs can be cooked at the same time. Crack one egg in each chamber of the Poached Egg Tray. Add a drop of white vinegar to each chamber. Pick desired cooking method from previous page. Properly place the Poached Egg Tray assembly onto the Base, cover with Lid and follow remaining steps. Care and Cleaning Ensure that the appliance is unplugged from the electrical outlet before cleaning. Wipe the Base with a damp cloth. Dry thoroughly. Do not use any abrasive cleaners or scouring pads on the Base as this will damage the finish. Wash the Poached Egg Tray, Boiled Egg Tray, Lid and Measuring Cup in warm soapy water. Dry thoroughly after cleaning. IMPORTANT: Use caution when handling the Measuring Cup as the Piercing Pin is sharp. Helpful Hints If the egg boiler beeps before the eggs cooked to your desired doneness, add more water or increase the cooking time. Egg size, temperature and weight can affect the cooking time. Eggs at room temperature cook faster than refrigerated eggs. After each cooking cycle, unplug the appliance for 10 minutes to allow the unit to cool down. The appliance will not operate properly unless thermostat had time to reset. Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized service representative. 8
