Backyard retreat The Barlows loved the view from their backyard the wooded area made for a beautiful backdrop through the changing seasons. But the yard itself was a simple, uninspiring patch of grass. The family tapped Seiler s Landscaping to transform the area into a tranquil space for entertaining and relaxation. During the planning stage, Seiler s totally redesigned the decking system, adding a large paver patio, Features columned sitting walls, included water features and a Decking system gazebo. Because we had used Seiler s in the past for our front yard, we knew we were in excellent hands. The back yard was a lot more challenging though, with its extreme elevation changes and an unattractive retaining wall. Seiler's Landscaping summer tune-up tips for homeowners Pruning k A fool-proof method for encouraging beautiful blooms next season on flowering trees and shrubs is to prune six weeks after a bloom is finished. k No matter what the plant, cut all dead and diseased stems back to healthier wood. k Always use the right tool hand-held pruning shears for stems half inch or less and a pruning saw for larger branches. Lawn k Mind the mower get the blades sharpened in July and don t forget to keep the under-deck free of debris. k Raise the blades so higher grass will shade the roots and protect the lawn from summer scorch. k Don t try to follow your tracks exactly when cutting.
