We are proud of our very busy and productive spring! We had a record-breaking amount of events to celebrate WLAM/World Landscape Architecture Month. Our VA ASLA April joint events included: A first time partnership with VAAIA and The Branch Museum for the film screening of the 10 Parks That Changed America followed by a panel discussion of the featured parks and the importance of our own local and State Parks. An educational opportunity where we met on the patio of Stone Brewing to discuss sustainable business practices, community development activities, economic development strategies and overall landscape design. A joint L&L with GVGBC VCAP to discuss Sustainable Sites: Tools to Protect and Restore the Environment. A big thanks to our committee leaders and administrator for an amazing WLAM 2016! We attended ASLA Advocacy Day and Mid Year meetings last month in Washington, DC, and we were very pleased to support the attendance of VT LA student Alex Jones. We hope to have representation from both UVA and VT for all mid year meetings in the future and will be working diligently this summer on a new proposal to both colleges. Thank you to our administrator, Kevin Bayes, for attending this year too! As usual, the mid year meetings are well organized and allow us to learn successes from other chapters.
