CMMD Series Membrane Air Dryer NEW Engineered to Save

CMMD Series Compressed Air Dry Air Membrane Drying CompAir s CMMD Series membrane air dryer offers a pointofuse alternative for low dew point applications ( F) by using membrane drying technology. Membrane dryers use a bundle of tiny tubular fibers that let fast gases like water vapor permeate through the tube wall to be swept away into the ambient. CompAir s membrane fiber technology features multiple strands to form a continuous microscopic sieve that targets and removes fast gases like water molecules as a vapor. Due to the fact that most applications require the absence of contaminants like liquid water, compressor lubricant, dust, rust, and pipe scale, it is highly recommended to add prefilter(s) and afterfilter(s) from the CAF Series Filters line of products to your CMMD Series membrane dryer. The unique design of the CMMD Series allows ultimate customization. Simply choose your inlet temperature, pressure dew point, and desired flow, and select which model best fits your needs. A Water Vapor (Sweep Air) Selective Permeation Through the process of selective permeation, water vapor is removed while leaving the gas composition intact. Each membrane bundle is comprised of multiple tubular membrane fibers, evenly spaced to provide maximum surface area in a compact design. Each helically wrapped layer alternates direction to ensure consistent crosssectional density and large flow paths for the sweep air that carries the water vapor to atmosphere. No oxygen is lost, which makes these ideal for medical applications. Selective Permeation Process B Compressed air enters the center of the membrane tubes (A) Water (H 2 O) vapor diffuses through the membrane wall faster than the other gases (B) A small portion of dry compressed air is swept back across the outside of the membrane walls to evacuate the H 2 O vapor to atmosphere Dry compressed air exits the unit ready for process applications 2

Modular Prefiltration Packages with Mounting Systems Convenient mounting systems for all filter combinations are available consisting of a wallmounting bracket, modular connection kit from filter(s) to dryer, and a modular filter connection kit should there be two prefilters. The filters include automatic drains and a differential pressure indicator to signal the need for element replacement. It is recommended to utilize one CompAir CAF Series Grade E High Efficiency Oil Removal Filter for normal conditions with less than 1,000 ppm inlet liquid load. This single prefilter package is very common at the point of use of compressed air. Utilization of two CAF Series Filters, the CAF Grade C General Purpose Filter and Grade F Maximum Oil Removal Filter, are recommended for extreme conditions with greater than a 1,000 ppm inlet liquid load. The dual prefilter package is very common with painting applications. A CAF Series Grade G Oil Vapor Removal Filter should be utilized as the final filter for food and pharmaceutical applications where compressed air comes into direct/indirect contact with these end products. Grade A Water Separator Installation: After an air compressors (or a standalone) aftercooler Performance*: Handles bulk liquid inlet loads to 30,000 ppm w/w and provides 10 micron solid particulate separation. Efficient to flows as low as 5% of rated flow. Grade B Separator/Filter Installation: After an air compressors (or a standalone) aftercooler or as a prefilter to a refrigerated dryer Performance*: Handles bulk liquid inlet loads to 25,000 ppm w/w, provides 3 micron solid particulate filtration and oil removal to 5 ppm. Grade C General Purpose Filter Installation: 1 micron particulate prefilter for refrigerated dryers and high efficiency oil removal filters Performance*: Handles bulk liquid inlet loads to 2,000 ppm w/w, provides 1 micron solid particulate filtration and oil removal to 1 ppm. Grade D Dry Particulate Filter Installation: Dry, solid particulate afterfilter for heatless desiccant dryers Performance*: Provides 1 micron solid particulate filtration of desiccant dust. Grade E High Efficiency Oil Removal Filter Installation: Prefilter to desiccant and membrane dryers, afterfilter to refrigerated dryers and standalone oil removal at the pointofuse of compressed air Performance*: Handles bulk liquid water inlet loads to 1,000 ppm w/w and provides 0.008 ppm oil aerosol removal and 0.01 micron solid particulate separation. Grade F Maximum Efficiency Oil Removal Filter Installation: Prefilter to desiccant and membrane dryers with a Grade C prefilter, oilfree air applications Performance*: Handles bulk liquid water inlet loads to ppm w/w and provides 0.0008 ppm oil aerosol removal and 0.01 micron solid particulate separation. PreFilters AfterFilter Grade G Oil Vapor Removal Filter Installation: Afterfilter to high efficiency liquid oil removal filters for true oilfree applications Performance**: No liquid should be present at filter inlet. Provides 0.003 ppm w/w oil (as a vapor) removal and 0.01 micron solid particulate separation. * Filter efficiencies have been established in accordance with CAGI standard ADF0 and are based on F (38 C) inlet temperature ** Filter efficiency has been established in accordance with CAGI standard ADF500 and is based on F (38 C) inlet temperature Dryer 5

Energy Saving Option Energy Savings Are Very Important In Today s Marketplace The digital purge control (DPC) option will help you gain control over wasted energy in applications where process air demands start and stop. Traditional membrane dryers are designed for 24/7 operations in continuous flow applications. They pass a constant sidestream of dry process gas known as sweep air to exhaust extracted water vapor into the ambient surrounds. When applied to intermittent duty applications that valuable sweep air is wasted when there is no air demand. The DPC option saves you energy and stops unnecessary wear and tear to your air compressor. Reduce Power Costs The CMMD Series optional digital purge control (DPC) accepts your demand signal to open and close an integrated normally open, twoway valve to control the sweep air. A zero demand signal keeps the bore of the membrane fibers pressurized while DPC eliminates the waste of sweep air to save you energy. Initiate the process air demand signal to start the flow of sweep air. Cycle tested to over 1 million cycles. Save A Bundle Digital purge control option guarantees constant pressure differential that prevents fiber flexing from pressure surges the leading cause of membrane fiber failure. Energy saving operation and long bundle life requires constant pressure differential to protect the fibers from damaging shock waves. Controlling sweep air waste by applying a solenoid valve to a sweep air exhaust port, allows the pressures to equalize. Upon release, the shock from the rapidly expanding air causes fatigue of the tiny tubes, cracks to develop, fibers to break, pressure dew points to deteriorate, and the bundle fails. Digital purge control saves you a bundle.
