Installation Instructions Blower Packages For Gas Furnaces KCBBA00TG KCBBA00TG NOTE: Read the entire instruction manual before starting the installation. INTRODUCTION When upgrading a Coleman, Intertherm, or Miller gas furnace for use with an outdoor heat pump or air conditioner, the blower motor assembly must always be changed out. Two kits cover this change out conversion. Kit KCBBA00TG covers the conversion of Coleman 00B, 00C, 00/D, /D, C, DGRT and DLRS series, Intertherm MGHA, and Miller MMHA in -/-, -, -/-, and -ton gas furnaces. Kit KCBBA00TG covers the conversion of Coleman 00B, 00C, 00/D, /D, C, DGRT and DLRS series, Intertherm MGHA, and Miller MMHA in gas furnaces above tons. SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS Installing and servicing heating equipment can be hazardous due to gas and electrical components. Only trained and qualified personnel should install, repair, or service heating equipment. Untrained personnel can perform basic maintenance functions such as cleaning and replacing air filters. All other operations must be performed by trained service personnel. When working on heating equipment, observe precautions in the literature, tags, and labels attached to or shipped with the unit and other safety precautions that may apply. Follow all safety codes. In the United States, follow all safety codes including the National Fuel Gas Code NFPA No. -/ANSI Z.-. DESCRIPTION AND USAGE Kits KCABBA00TG and KCABB00TG are comprehensive kits containing a blower motor assembly, control box assembly, adapter frame, and a parts bag. Installation of components is determined by unit of application. The installation instruction is composed of sections covering specific units and sizes.. Section covers the installation of KCBBA00TG into Coleman 00B, 00C, 00/D, /D, C, DGRT and DLRS series -/-, -, -/-, and -ton gas furnaces.. Section covers the installation of KCBBA00TG into Coleman 00B, 00C, 00/D, /D, C, DGRT and DLRS series gas furnaces above tons.. Section covers the conversion of -/-, -, -/-, and -ton Intertherm MGHA and Miller MMHA Series Gas Furnaces using kit KCBBA00TG and the conversion of units above -ton using kit KCBBA00TG. INSTALLATION SECTION This section covers the installation of KCBBA00TG into Coleman 00B, 00C, 00/D, /D, C, DGRT and DLRS series -/-, -, -/-, and -ton gas furnaces. REMOVE BLOWER FROM CARN. Remove blower from carton. Unit is heavy so exercise care when handling.. Straighten any flanges bent during shipment.. Remove cardboard packing from blower wheel. . Check rotation of blower wheel in housing. If any rubbing occurs between blower wheel and housing, adjust blower wheel on motor shaft by loosening blower wheel setscrew and sliding wheel along shaft until rubbing stops.. Check blower wheel setscrew for tightness. When tightening setscrew, be sure screw is on flat side of motor shaft.. Check control box and wiring harnesses for shipping damage. File claim with shipper if shipment is damaged or incomplete. REMOVE EXISTING BLOWER FROM FURNACE. Turn electrical power at main electrical service entrance to OFF position.. Remove furnace door.. Unplug motor connector plug from receptacle on furnace control box by pinching clasping tabs on sides of plug and pulling plug straight up from receptacle.. Remove blower mounting screws, then remove blower from front of furnace. Retain screws for new blower installation. INSTALL KCBBA00TG BLOWER ASSEMBLY AND CONTROL BOX A. Mount Control Box and Adapter Frame to Blower. Remove cover from blower control box by removing screw. Retain screw for reinstallation.. Mount control box cover on blower wrapper using No. 0 X /-in. screws. (See Fig..). Install adapter frame to blower housing using No. 0 X /-in. screws. (See Fig..). Mount control box to cover on blower with screw removed in Step above. (See Fig..) Make sure bottom of cover engages inside of control box flange. B. Install Blower Into Unit. Start blower rail flanges into blower slots and push blower into furnace until mounting bracket flange is against furnace. (See Fig..). Secure blower with screws removed earlier in Procedure, Step. Attach blower ground lead under screw in blower compartment that contacts an unpainted surface. C. Connect Wiring Harnesses. Connect -pin plug of -in. wiring harness (supplied) to blower control box receptacle. (See Fig..). Connect -pin plug of -in. harness to furnace control box receptacle. (See Fig..). Connect -pin receptacle of -in. harness to -pin plug of -in. wiring harness. (See Fig..). Connect -pin plug of blower wiring harness to blower control box receptacle. (See Fig..) A. 00B Series Furnace MODIFY FURNACE CONTROL BOX WIRING. Remove /-in. knockout on furnace control box.. Remove furnace control box cover.. Run loose red wire (supplied) from R of low-voltage terminal board on blower control box through knockout hole in furnace control box. (See Fig. and.). Run loose blue wire from -pin receptacle of -in. wiring harness through knockout hole in furnace control box.. Install strain relief to wires and snap into knockout hole of furnace control box.. Remove gray wires from low-voltage connection of transformer. Cut terminals off and strip wires / in. Twist ends of gray wires and red wire together and secure with wire nut provided. (See Fig..). Remove yellow wires from low-voltage connection of transformer. Cut terminals off and strip wires / in. Twist ends of yellow wires and blue wire (of -pin receptacle through knockout) together and secure with wire nut provided. (See Fig..). Replace furnace control box cover. B. 00C, C, 00/D, /D, DLRS, and DGRT Series Furnace. Remove /-in. knockout on furnace control box.. Remove furnace control box cover.. Run loose blue wire from -pin receptacle of -in. wiring harness through knockout hole in furnace control box. (See Fig. and Fig.,,, or.). Install strain relief to wire and snap into knockout hole of furnace control box.. For 00C, C, 00/D, and /D remove yellow wires from low-voltage connection of transformer. Cut terminals off and strip wires / in. Twist ends of yellow wires and blue wire (or -pin receptacle through knockout) together and secure with wire nut provided. (See Fig.,, or.)

. For DLRS and DGRT series furnaces, remove of the low-voltage connections of transformer. A gray and a yellow wire should be removed leaving the third yellow wire connected to the transformer. That is the yellow wire that goes to the reignitor module. Cut terminals off and strip the wires / in. Twist ends of yellow, gray and blue wire (or -pin receptacle through knockout) together and secure with wire nut provided. (See Fig..). Replace furnace control box cover. CONNECT THERMOSTAT A. Heating Only Thermostat ( wire). Connect thermostat wires W to W of low-voltage terminal board on blower control box.. Series variation a. For 00B Series: connect thermostat R terminal to loose red wire from -pin plug of -in. harness. (See Fig..) b. For 00C, C, 00/D, /D, DLRS, and DGRT Series: tape loose end of red wire from -pin plug of -in. harness, and connect thermostat wire R to R on low-voltage terminal board. (See Fig..). Remove locking clip on HEAT/COOL switch on blower control box. (See Fig. or.). Explain to homeowner that HEAT/COOL switch must be manually set in appropriate position for heating or cooling.. Turn ON-OFF switch on furnace junction box to ON position. B. Heat/Cool Thermostat ( wire). Connect thermostat wires W and Y to W and Y, respectively, of low-voltage terminal board on blower control box.. Series variation a. For 00B Series: connect thermostat R terminal to loose red wire from -pin plug of -in. harness. (See Fig..) b. Remove external jumper wire from G and Y of low-voltage terminal board on blower control box.. CONNECT CONDENSING UNIT Connect condensing unit control relay or contactor to Y and C on blower low-voltage terminal board on blower control box. COMPLETE UNIT INFORMATION PLATE Using ballpoint pen, complete information requested on information plate. Peel backing off plate and affix in upper right-hand corner of vestibule panel. COMPLETE UNIT INSTALLATION. For -wire thermostats only: Remember to explain to homeowner that HEAT/COOL switch must be manually set to appropriate position.. Replace furnace door.. Restore power to unit.. Cycle furnace in both heating and cooling modes to ensure proper operation. SERVICE A qualified service person should clean and lubricate the blower unit each heating and cooling season. Clean the blower unit when cooling coil is cleaned. Lubricate motor every years if motor is used intermittently, or every years if motor is in continuous operation. Remove motor to lubricate. Place approximately drops of SAE 0 non-detergent oil in oil port. Plug port securely. Check electrical connections for tightness and controls for proper operation each heating and cooling season. Service as necessary.

For -wire thermostat, position HEAT/COOL switch to appropriate mode. Explain to homeowner that HEAT/COOL switch must be manually set to appropriate position.. For - or -wire thermostats, locking clip should not be removed from HEAT/COOL switch since modes are automatically selected.. Replace furnace door.. Restore power to unit.. Cycle furnace in both heating and cooling modes to ensure proper operation. SERVICE A qualified service person should perform cleaning and lubricating of the blower unit each heating and cooling season. Clean cooling coil when blower unit is cleaned. Lubricate motor every years if motor is used intermittently, or every years if motor is in continuous operation. Remove motor to lubricate. Place approximately drops of SAE 0 non-detergent oil in oil port. Plug port securely. Check electrical connections for tightness and controls for proper operation each heating and cooling season. Service as necessary.
