The purpose of his sandard is o esablish for Cenral Saion Air-handling Uni Supply Fans: definiions; classificaions; es requiremens; raing requiremens; minimum daa requiremens for Published Raings; marking and nameplae daa; and conformance condiions. 1.1.1 Inen. This sandard is inended for he guidance of he indusry, including manufacurers, engineers, insallers, conracors, and users. 1.1.2 Reiew and Amendmen. This sandard is subjec o reiew and amendmen as echnology adances. Secion 2. Scope 2.1 Scope. A facory-made encased assembly consising of a supply fan or fans in parallel which may also include oher necessary equipmen o perform one or more of he funcions of circulaing, cleaning, 1

This assembly is capable of use wih duc work haing a oal saic resisance of a leas 0.5 in H 2 O. 3.2.1 Duced Fan Discharge Cenral Saion Air-handling Uni. A uni ha has a duced fan oule. (See Figure 2. Noe ha Figure 2 aapplies o HousedHoused Cenrifugal Fan and Axial Fans and ha a Housed Cenrifugal Fan is sshown.) 3.2.2 Unduced Fan Discharge Cenral Saion Air-handling Uni. A uni conaining a fan ha does no hae a duced fan oule. (See Figure 1. Noe ha Figure 1 applies o all fan ypes in he sandard and ha a Housed Cenrifugal Fan is shown.) 3.3 Full Face Opening Axial Discharge. Where he discharge opening of he CSAHU is he same cross-secional dimensions as he inerior of he CSAHU s casing and he direcion of he airflow is parallel wih he shaf of he fan or fans. 3.4 Supply Fan. The fan ha proides enough pressure o oercome he supply air resricion and may proide some or all of he pressure o oercome he reurn air resricion o proide air ino he condiioned space. 3.4.1 Horizonal Shaf. A fan shaf ha is parallel o he ground. 3.4.2 Verical Shaf. A fan shaf ha is perpendicular o he ground. 3.4.3 Direc Drie. Drier and drien fans wih posiie direc connecions for roaions a he same speed. 3.4.4 Bel Drie. Drier and drien fans wih posiie beled connecions for roaions a any speed. 3.4.5 Plenum Fan. A fan assembly consising of a single inle impeller mouned perpendicular o airflow ha pressurizes a plenum chamber in an air-disribuion sysem. 3.4.6 Axial Fan. A housed fan ha moes air in he general direcion of he axis abou which i roaes. This includes ubeaxial fans, cenaxial fans, and aneaxial fans. Fan roor or wheel wihin a ubular-ype casing ha includes suppors for eiher Bel Drie or Direc Drie. 3.4.7 Housed Cenrifugal Fan. Fan in which he air eners he impeller axially and leaes i subsanially in a radial direcion. Fan roor or wheel wihin a scroll-ype casing (shroud) ha includes suppors for eiher Bel Drie or Direc Drie. 3.4.8 Fan Housing. The saionary elemen which guides he air before and afer he fan s impeller. 3.5 Uni Appurenances. Equipmen added o Cenral Saion Air-handling Unis for purposes of conrol, isolaion, safey, saic pressure regain, energy/hea recoery, wear, ec. A saemen of he assigned alues of hose performance characerisics, under saed Raing Condiions, by which a uni may be chosen o fi is applicaion. These alues apply o all unis of like nominal capaciy and ype (idenificaion) produced by he same manufacurer. As used herein, he erm Published Raing includes he raing of all performance characerisics shown on he uni or published in specificaions, aderising or oher lieraure conrolled by he manufacurer, a saed Raing Condiions. 3.7 Raing Condiions. Any se of operaing condiions under which a single leel of performance resuls, and causes only ha leel of performance o occur. 3.8 "Shall" or "Should". "Shall" or "should" shall be inerpreed as follows: 3.8.1 Shall. Where "shall" or "shall no" is used for a proision specified, ha proision is mandaory if compliance wih he sandard is claimed. 3.8.2 Should. "Should" is used o indicae proisions which are no mandaory bu which are desirable as good pracice. 3.9 Sandard Air. Air weighing 0.075 lb/f 3 which approximaes dry air a 70 F and a a baromeric pressure of 29.92 in. Hg. Secion 4. Classificaions 4.1 Mehods of Classificaion. Equipmen coered wihin he scope of his sandard shall be classified as shown: 4.1.1 Uni Type. 4.1.1.1 Duced Discharge 4.1.1.2 Unduced Discharge 4.1.2 Fan Type. 4.1.2.1 Housed Cenrifugal 4.1.2.1.1 Airfoil/Backward Inclined/Backward Cured 4.1.2.1.2 Forward Cured 4.1.2.2 Axial 4.1.2.3 Plenum 3

AHRI STANDARD 430 (I-P)-2014 4.1.3 Fan Drie Type. 4.1.3.1 Bel Drie 4.1.3.2 Direc Drie Secion 5. Tes Requiremens 5.1 Tes Requiremens. All Sandard Raings shall be erified by ess conduced in accordance wih ANSI/AMCA Sandard 210 and ANSI/ASHRAE Sandard 51, excep as modified by Secion 5.1.1.3. 5.1.1 Arrangemens for Tesing. 5.1.1.1 Single Oule Duced Fan Discharge Cenral Saion Air-handling Unis. Single oule Duced Fan Discharge Cenral Saion Air-handling Unis shall be esed in accordance wih ANSI/AMCA Sandard 210 and ANSI/ASHRAE Sandard 51. 5.1.1.2 Muliple Oule Duced Fan Discharge Cenral Saion Air-handling Unis. Muliple oule Duced Fan Discharge Cenral Saion Air-handling Unis shall be esed as in Secion 5.1.1.1 wih each fan oule duced as shown in Figure 3 o he airflow measuring eses seup. No correcions for iindiidual fan oule duc fricion losses shall be mademade. Figure 3. Unduced Fan Discharge Cenral Saion Air-handling Unis shall be esed in accordance wih ANSI/AMCA Sandard 210/ANSI/ASHRAE Sandard 51, excep when an oule chamber wih muliple nozzles wihin he chamber is used. The es chamber cross-secional area shall be sized so ha he maximum air elociy does no exceed 400 fpm. The es chamber heigh and widh shall be a leas 5% greaer han he respecie heigh and widh of he duc connecion a he es chamber. Discharge area canno exceed he es chamber area. For example, see Figure 4. 4

The raing configuraion for eiher Duced Fan Discharge or Unduced Fan Discharge plenum fan unis shall be full face discharge wih he minimum spacing allowed per he manufacurer s specificaions beween he coil and he fan. Figure 15 in he 2007 reision of AMCA 210 shall be used for he es se-up of bel-drie plenum fan unis (see Figure 55). Figures 12 or Figure 15 in he 2007 reision of AMCA 210 shall be used for he es se-up of direc-drie plenum fan unis (see Figures 55 and 66). Figure 5. In lieu of esing eery configuraion, i is accepable o exend es daa o oher configuraionsconfiguraions in accordance wih he proisions of he following subsecions: 5.3.1 Applicaion of Fan Laws o Unis wih Inle Vanes. Unis wih inle anes may be raed one of hree ways: 1) using he fan laws as described by Secion 5.3.2 for proporional unis wih proporional fans and inle anes; 2) using he fan laws as described in Secion 5.3.3 for proporional unis wih non-proporional fans and inle anes; or 3) using he fan laws by applying he appropriae inle ane derae facors o unis wihou inle anes raed per Secions 5.3.2 or 5.3.3 when he inle anes of he es uni are proporional o he inle anes of he raed unis. (Since all requiremens for proporionaliy of cabines, fan impellers, and housing are saisfied by proisions in eiher Secion 5.3.2 or 5.3.3 wihou inle anes, raed unis wih inle anes deried by inle ane derae facors mus only mee inle ane proporionaliy crieria.) Inle anes shall be considered o be proporional when he inle anes resul in ne airflow areas no less han 92.5% of hose deried from exac proporionaliy (as defined in Secion 5.3.2) when locaed wihin 0.5 impeller diameer from he fan inle. The es uni shall be esed wih anes in he wide open posiion as specified by he manufacurer.
