Dear Customer, Please read and comply with these instructions prior to the initial operation of your appliance. Retain these operating instructions for future reference or for subsequent possessors. Proper use This vacuum cleaner is meant for use in private households and not for commercial purposes. Use the vacuum cleaner only with: Original filter bags. Original spare parts, accessories and special accessories. The vacuum cleaner is not suitable for: Sucking moist or fluid substances, mildly inflammable or explosive materials and gases. Sucking substances that are harmful for health, have sharp edges, are hot or burning. The manufacturer is not responsible for any damages that may occur on account of improper use or wrong operations. Safe small living creatures (for e.g. flies, spiders, etc.), please don t suck in. Always commission and use the appliance according to the type plate. Check the mains cable and the appliance to see that it functions properly. If they are not in a perfect state then the appliance must not be used. Never vacuum clean without the filter bag. This can cause damage to the appliance. Only allow children to use the appliance under supervision. Avoid vacuum cleaning using nozzle or suction tubes close to the head. There is risk of injury! Do not use the power cord to carry/ transport the machine. Always pull out the power cord fully during operation. Safety instructions The packaging material can be recycled. Please do not place the packaging into the ordinary refuse for disposal, but arrange for the proper recycling. Old appliances contain valuable materials that can be recycled. Please arrange for the proper recycling of old appliances. Please dispose your old appliances using appropriate collection systems. Disposing the filters and filter bags Filters and filter bags are made from environment-friendly materials. They can therefore be disposed off through the normal household garbage provided you have not sucked in substances that are not permitted to be thrown into household garbage. Environmental protection To separate the machine from the mains, pull the plug and not the power cord. Do not scrape the power cord across sharp edges and ensure that it does not get pressed. First pull out the plug from the mains before carrying out any tasks on the machine. To avoid risks, all repairs and replacement of spare parts in the machine may only be carried out by the authorised customer service personnel. Protect the appliance against external weather, humidity and heat sources. Turn off the appliance while you do not vacuum. Do not use worn out appliance; first put it out of use; then arrange for its proper disposal as scrap. English 3

Start up Description of the Appliance When unpacking the product, make sure that no accessories are missing and that none of the package contents have been damaged. If you detect any transport damages please contact your dealer. Preparing the Appliance Do not operate the vacuum cleaner without filter basket! For a dust-free disposal of the vacuuming material we recommend to insert the paper filter bag as well. Therefore: Change the filter bag at the appropriate time! 4 English

Connect the mains plug and turn on the appliance. Operations Vacuum cleaning of hard surfaces: Use your foot to press the reversing switch of the floor nozzle. The brush strips at the bottom of the floor nozzle are extended. Vacuum cleaning of carpets: Use your foot to press the reversing switch of the floor nozzle. The brush strips at the bottom of the floor nozzle are retracted. Turn off the appliance and disconnect the mains plug. Finish operation Replace filter bag, if in use and full. Remove the motor casing and empty the dirt container. Storing the Appliance Place the accessories in the appropriate compartments at the appliance and store the appliance in a dry room. English 5

Risk of injury Always switch off the appliance and pull out the mains plug before care and maintenance work. Cleaning the appliance and accessories Caution Do not use abrasives, glass or universal cleaners! Never immerse the appliance in water. Clean the appliance and accessory parts made of plastic with a commercial plastic cleaner. If necessary, rinse the dirt container and the accessories with water and let dry before using them again. Motor filter: change each time you open a new filter bag pack (5 bags). Maintenance and Care General notes Warranty The terms of the guarantee applicable in each country have been published by our respective national distributors. We will repair possible faults on your unit free of charge within the warranty period, insofar as the faults are caused by material defects or defective workmanship. Guarantee claims should be addressed to your dealer or the nearest authorized customer service centre, and supported by documentary evidence of purchase. Ordering spare parts and special attachments At the end of the operating instructions you will find a selected list of spare parts that are often required. You can procure the spare parts and the attachments from your dealer or your Kärcher branch office. 6 English

Troubleshooting Appliance shuts down Appliance is overheating Turn the unit off (position "0"). Allow device to cool down. Note: After the appliance has cooled down, you can resume cleaning. Suction power decreases Attachment, suction hose or suction pipe are blocked Remove the blockage with the help of a stick. Filter bag is full Insert new filter bag. Filter basket is dirty and blocked Remove the filter and shake out the dirt. If necessary, rinse the filter with water to dissolve persistant deposits. Ensure that the filter is fully dry before placing it in the applicance. If dirt cannot be removed or if the basket is damaged, replace it.
