Low battery indicator

PAGE 5 OF 24 OPERATION The ARC InstaTemp Changing ºF to ºC ARC InstaTemp is set to Fahrenheit by default. To change to Celsius, follow these simple steps: 1 2 Press and release the activation button to get a reading. Once the reading appears on screen in Fahrenheit, press and release the activation button again the reading will automatically change to Celsius. Repeat to change back.

PAGE 6 OF 24 OPERATION TAKING A TEMPERATURE 1. Before attempting to take a temperature reading: Remove protective label prior to operation Move hair away from the path of the sensor. Wipe perspiration from the forehead, if apparent Ensure that the person has been in the room for 20 minutes. Do not measure the person s temperature immediately after he/ she has been exposed to really cold or hot climates, or has drunk a hot or cold liquid as it may temporarily change the surface temperature of the skin. In these instances, wait 20 minutes before taking a temperature reading Do not touch the lens of the sensor. It is the most delicate part of the ARC InstaTemp

PAGE 7 OF 24 OPERATION TAKING A TEMPERATURE 2. Point the thermometer at the person as shown below. Ensure the device is 0.5-1.25 ins (1-3 cm) from the forehead, above the eyebrows and between the eyes. ARC InstaTemp must be held steady, perpendicular to and pointing directly at the center of the forehead at the area above the eyebrows and between the eyes when taking a temperature. Hold the ARC InstaTemp in position, and press and release the activation button once. Hold the thermometer in position until the display is illuminated and a temperature reading is displayed on the screen.

PAGE 8 OF 24 OPERATION TAKING A TEMPERATURE 3. The temperature reading will be displayed for 4 seconds. 4. Temperature Range Indicator System The temperature range indicator will be green, orange or red depending on the temperature measurement detected. See the tables on the following page for details of the temperature ranges. Should you wish to take a second reading, wait for 5 seconds and repeat. Do not hold the activation button between measurements.

This indicates that the temperature which the thermometer has measured is outside the device s measurement range (i.e. >109.1 F/ >42.8 C). Above 109.1º F / 42.8 C Reading The LCD will display. This indicates that the temperature which the thermometer has measured is outside the device s measurement range (i.e. <89.5 F/ <32 C). Below 89.5º F / 32 C

PAGE 11 OF 24 OPERATION OTHER SCREEN INDICATIONS Indication Meaning After 4 seconds the backlight, LCD display and temperature range indicator turn off and the thermometer powers down. If the display remains in this state after the button is pressed then the batt ery has depleted and your thermometer needs to be replaced. An Error message indicates an internal problem with the thermometer. If an Error message is displayed, please contact ARC Devices or your distributor. Contact info on the final page of this document.

PAGE 12 OF 24 OPERATION OTHER SCREEN INDICATIONS Indication Meaning This indicates an invalid reading. This is due to incorrect usage, such as: trying to measure a temperature when the ambient temperature is outside the operating temperature range. temperature measurement failed due to too much movement by the operator or patient. Wait 15 seconds and repeat the temperature. Repeat the temperature measurement as described in the section titled Taking the Temperature. Steady battery symbol & red indicator light: insufficient battery power for a measurement. R

PAGE 13 OF 24 CARRYING & STORAGE (If accessory is included) To insert the ARC InstaTemp into the neoprene carrying case: 1. 2. 3. Pull the hood of the case back. PAGE14 OF 24 CARRYING & STORAGE (If accessory is included) The wall mount can be attached to any smooth vertical surface using its adhesive pad on the rear of the wall mount. Because it is magnetic, the wall mount can also be attached to any metal surface. The internal magnet also keeps the ARC InstaTemp gently attached to the wall mount.

PAGE 15 OF 24 PRECAUTIONS Essential safety steps to be read and noted before use: Read this manual and always follow the instructions as specified when using the ARC InstaTemp. This product is intended for home use only. Using this thermometer is not a substitute for consulting your physician. The ARC InstaTemp and the person must remain in a stable climate for at least 20 minutes before a reading can be taken. Do not measure the person s temperature immediately after he/she has been exposed to really cold or hot climates, or has drunk a hot or cold drink. In these instances, wait 20 minutes before taking a temperature reading. Do not apply any hot or cold compress, cloth or gel based, on the person s forehead prior to the measurement for at least 20 minutes. Do not drop, tap or shake the ARC InstaTemp thermometer. It is a precision device and any damage may result in an inaccurate reading. The temperature in the forehead area differs from the internal temperature, which is taken orally or rectally. Vasoconstriction, an effect which constricts the blood vessels and cools the skin, can occur in the early stages of a fever. In this case the person s temperature may be unusually low. Only use the ARC InstaTemp in climate temperatures ranging from 50-104 F (10-40 C).

PAGE 16 OF 24 PRECAUTIONS Outside of this range a --- will be displayed when a measurement is taken, repeat the measurement inside the 50-104 F (10-40 C) range after waiting at least 20 minutes. Do not subject the ARC InstaTemp to temperatures above 104 F (40 C) or below 45 F (7 C). Do not use outside or close to a heat or cooling source. Using the thermometer in these conditions may affect the accuracy of the temperature reading. Do not allow the ARC InstaTemp thermometer to become damp or immersed in water or other liquids. Do not touch the lens of the infrared sensor. The sensor is the most important and sensitive part of the device. Do not attempt to measure body temperature with the thermometer if: a) The thermometer has been exposed extreme conditions. b) It has been exposed to electric current or electromagnetic fields. c) It has been exposed to moisture. d) It has been dropped or shows any signs of damage or malfunction. e) If there is any visible dust or dirt on the device lens or in the device lens opening. Do not attempt to fix or repair the thermometer yourself.

PAGE 17 OF 24 PRECAUTIONS Do not attempt to replace the internal batteries, The internal batteries are nonremovable, non-replaceable and nonserviceable. Do not open the thermometer casing. If the device touches or comes in contact with the person: a) Do not take a measurement for 5 minutes, b) Check the device lens and opening for contaminants, c) To clean the device please use a standard IPA wipe. Do not rely on temperature readings for important health concerns. Consult your physician For use in persons 2 years of age and older. Not for use in persons younger then 2 years of age. CLEANING Do not touch the lens of the sensor. It is the most delicate part of the ARC InstaTemp thermometer and must be protected from dirt and damage.
