about amarestone a passion for stone The Amarestone story began in 2003 when we left our day jobs and set up a business importing French Limestone directly from a small group of quarries in Burgundy. Several years on and our Berkshire-based business now imports an extensive range of Limestone, Marble, Slate, Travertine, Granite and Basalt from some of the world s best quarries in more than a dozen countries across Europe, South America and the Middle East. Our focus has always been on sourcing the highest quality materials to satisfy the most discerning customers whether they are architects, interior designers or private clients. We continue to research new quarries and products and many of our stones are produced by small, independent quarries and are rarely available from the normal outlets in the UK. More recently, Amarestone has established close working relationships with a number of UK quarries and we are proud to be able to offer new British products to our clients. Amarestone also supplies a full range of premium adhesives, grouts and sealers as well as underfloor heating and wet room construction systems together with a complete installation service to help guarantee the success of your project. Our aim is to make sourcing the materials as stress-free as possible for you by delivering consistently high quality products backed up by technical expertise, unbiased advice and our personal attention to detail. We hope the following pages of our brochure will inspire you. They showcase some of Amarestone s recent projects and provide you with more information about the range of products and services we offer. We look forward to discussing your next project with you soon. Steve and Denise Turner Steve and Denise Turner photographed at the stonemasonry workshop 02 www.amarestone.com www.amarestone.com 03
Private client Location: Private house, Buckinghamshire Requirements: To renovate an antique Victorian black and white marble floor and steps in a wine storage room. Identify and source additional black and white marble tiles to match the existing for a new conservatory. Install and seal the new flooring so that it is protected against possible staining from red wine. Solution: From our experience, the existing floor appeared to be marble from northern Italy so we sent photos to one of our trusted Italian quarries. The black marble was quickly recognised as a stone from the region and the white marble was identified as a now rare form of Calacatta, also from the area. After sourcing a block of the Calacatta, we asked the quarry to produce both sets of marble tiles so that we could be assured of an even size and degree of honing across the new floor. They also made some larger pieces that we fitted as full width thresholds for the doorways. Our experts renovated the existing floor and steps by repairing chips and cracks so that they became virtually invisible. They then cleaned and re-polished the floor to bring back the lustre that a hundred years of wear had dulled. After installation, the new floor was sealed with Fila Fob to provide protection against water-based and oil-based stains (including red wine) and finished the old and new with Fila Classic Wax to give a similar degree of lustre across both surfaces. Now that John Montgomery has finished laying the marble floor in our conservatory and repairing our marble floored wine room, I feel I must let you know how impressed I have been with your professionalism from the day I contacted you through to the completion of the job. As requested, you have matched the new marble in our conservatory to the antique marble in our wine room so closely that it is impossible to tell the difference. Your estimates of timings were always adhered to and your advice and friendly manner were greatly appreciated. John's workmanship was second to none and he was always polite, punctual and tidy. It is so rare in this day and age to receive this level of service and civility. You are welcome to use my name as a referee to potential customers. Once again, thank you for your service. Steve and Denise's expertise and advice have been fundamental to the success of our kitchen and bathroom refurbishment. They didn t just provide us with the best quality stone tiles and basin at a very competitive price, but gave us their expert advice on what stone to get to create the look that we wanted, all in a friendly and caring manner. The results speak for themselves, which is why we can only recommend Amarestone. Emilie Holcke, Private Client, London Private client and architect Location: Private apartment, London Requirements: Easy maintenance, contemporary child s bathroom with underfloor heating. Bespoke vanity unit with stone top to contrast with floor and wall tiles. Design to work with very high ceilings. Master en-suite shower room to include a large walk-in shower which is fully tanked and leak-proof. The tile layout was to work well with a long narrow room. Bespoke stone basin to fit a specific space and under floor heating. Kitchen floor tiles and worktop to be aesthetically striking and compliment the customer s antique French furniture. Solution: All floors were boarded and first had to be strengthened and insulated prior to laying underfloor heating systems and floor tiles. The children s bathroom used high quality Ivory Travertine on the floor and walls Silver Travertine on the floor and Italian Statuario marble worktops in the kitchen to link in with the customer s chosen colour scheme and match an existing antique marble table-top. All stone was treated with the Fila range of sealers to provide protection against oil and water-based stains. 06 www.amarestone.com www.amarestone.com 07
Interior designer Location: Oxfordshire country home. Swimming pool, conservatory and bathrooms. Requirements: Luxury bathroom to include a shower tray made from a single slab of stone with matching floor and wall tiles and bath surround. Antiqued marble flooring in the conservatory with underfloor heating so the space can be used all year round. Swimming pool to be fully lined in large marble tiles that will not be affected by the pool s chlorination system. Matching marble for the pool surround, adjacent gym, shower room and changing rooms. The overall look should be in keeping with the traditional style of the oak-framed pool house building. Solution: Bespoke shower tray and bath surround made by our stonemasons using stone sourced from the same quarry that produced the floor and wall tiles. Conservatory floor was insulated with Marmox boards to maximise the efficiency of the electric underfloor heating system and then laid with the customer s choice of antiqued marble. The pool surround and coping stones were specially made by the quarry with final finishing by our stonemasons to ensure a perfect fit. The pool was lined with the same marble cut to a specific size. We consulted the Fila and Mapei technical departments (sealer and adhesives manufacturers) who provided test results to demonstrate that the solution would withstand the particular type of chlorination system.
