Agenda 21 process and Aalborg commitments? Hey what s that?

Together with our partners and stakeholders improve we re working to the environment, the living and social conditions, the economical development and cultural life of our city. In other words we re promoting the sustainable community development of our Trying to do the right things in the right time together

But, since year 2000, what did these committments mean for Desio? Let s see some examples of actions taken in our city for each commitment

1 GOVERNANCE we are committed to energising our decisionmaking processes through increased participatory democracy. 2 LOCAL MANAGEMENT TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY we are committed to implementing effective management cycles, from formulation through implementation to evaluation. Two examples of what we do Last year we asked our community to imagine wich kind of city they desired and these were translated into projects for the new 5 years administrative programme for Desio (2010-2015) Desìo in ancient italian means DESIRE. that s why you have to pronounce our city s name as it follows: Dèsio Consiglio comunale dei ragazzi (project started in may 2009)

3 NATURAL COMMON GOODS We are committed to fully assuming our responsibility to protect, to preserve, and to ensure equitable access to natural common goods. 4 RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND LIFESTYLE CHOICES We are committed to adopting and facilitating the prudent and efficient use of resources and to encouraging sustainable consumption and production. An example We are carrying on a policy towards the reduction of waste and the increase of reuse and recyclin. We manage and treat waste in accordance with best practice standards. Our reuse and recycle market Project Logo: I reduce I reuse I recycle Municipal ecological platform

5 PLANNING AND DESIGN We are committed to a strategic role for urban planning and design in addressing environmental, social, economic, health and cultural issues for the benefit of all.
