EDEN Bath shower manual mixer tap Installation Instructions INSTALLERS PLEASE NOTE THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE TO BE LEFT WITH THE USER 2180389C October 2005

INTRODUCTION This guide contains all the neccessary fitting instructions for your Unichrome manual bath shower mixer tap. Please read this guide carefully before beginning your installation. The mixer tap installation must be carried out by a suitably competent person and in the sequence of the instruction book. Care taken during the installation will ensure long life and trouble free operation from your taps. DO NOT choose a position where the tap could become frozen. Note: The Eden bath shower mixer is not thermostatic and will not prevent water from flowing from the unit should there be a loss of one supply to the mixer. Replacement parts can be ordered from Triton Customer Service (see back page). WATER PRESSURE These taps are suitable for all water pressures and should be fitted in accordance with Water Regulations. COMPONENTS The tap set comprises of the following: 1 Bath shower mixer tap 2 Gasket 3 Sealing washers (2 off) 4 Lock nuts (2 off) 5 Showerhead 6 Flexible hose 7 Wall fixing bracket - Screws and plugs Check that all parts are correct (fig.1). Fig.1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 2

SITING WARNING! The mixer must not be positioned where it will be subject to freezing conditions. Fig.2 Refer to (fig.2) for correct siting of the mixer. The showerhead can be positioned either side of the mixer. Note: The outlet of the bath shower mixer must not be connected to anything other than the showerhead supplied. INSTALLATION DO NOT use jointing compounds on any pipe fittings for the installation. IMPORTANT: Water regulations require that where the showerhead can be lowered into the bath a double check valve or similar device must be fitted in the supply pipework to prevent back syphonage. Fit the taps into the bath as shown in (fig.3). Connect the hot and cold supplies to the taps using standard ¾ BSP tap connectors. Showerhead can be mounted either side of the mixer. Height of showerhead to suit user's requirement. Fig.3 Handwheel Anti-splash Tap Gasket Sealing washer Lock nut BSP tap connector Pipe 3

Fig.4 Fig.5 Showerhead FITTING THE FIXED SHOWERHEAD HOLDER Decide on a position for the showerhead holder on the wall within the bath shower area. Proceed as follows: Hold the showerhead mounting plate in a suitable position on the wall. Using the plate as a template, mark the two locating holes (fig.4). Drill and plug the wall. Replace the mounting plate and secure using the screws supplied. (The wall plugs provided are suitable for most brick walls - use a suitable masonry drill. If the wall is plasterboard or a soft buidling block, use suitable wall plugs and an appropriate drill bit). Slide the showerhead holder down onto the mounting plate (fig.5). Hose and showerhead Screw the flexible hose to the shower outlet and showerhead. Make sure the supplied washers are in place at each end of the flexible hose (fig.6). Place the showerhead into the holder and check that it fits correctly. Note: The holder is slightly tapered and the showerhead can only fit from one direction. IMPORTANT: It is the conical end of the hose which grips into the holder. The showerhead will not fit in the holder without the hose attached. LEAK TESTING Switch on the supplies at the mains. Turn the tap on and test for leaks in the connections. Remedy if required. Shower outlet Washers Fig.6 4

ADJUSTING THE SHOWERHEAD Five showerhead patterns are available (fig.7). Adjust the spray pattern by turning the bezel on the showerhead in either direction until the desired pattern is obtained. Fig.7 CLEANING WARNING! DO NOT use powerful abrasive or solvent cleaning fluids when cleaning the shower as they may damage the plastic fittings. Before cleaning, turn off the water at the isolation valve to avoid the shower being accidentally switched on. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE SHOWERHEAD CLEAN TO MAINTAIN THE PERFORMANCE OF THE SHOWER. The hardness of the water will determine the frequency of cleaning. For example, if the shower is used every day in a very hard water area, it may be necessary to clean the showerhead on a weekly basis. 5

Fig.8 Sprayplate key Fig.9 Sprayplate Sprayplate removal There is no need to remove the showerhead from the hose. Using the removal tool supplied (fig.8), locate the raised bosses into the recesses in the sprayplate. Hold in firmly and twist anticlockwise (fig.9). This movement may turn the cartridge assembly as well until it reaches a stop. Hold the cartridge firmly and continue to twist anti-clockwise. Having loosened the sprayplate, it can be unscrewed and removed completely. Clean the sprayplate with a suitable brush or preferably leave it to soak overnight in a mild proprietary descalent. Make sure all traces of scale are removed and thoroughly rinse in clean water afterwards. Before replacing the sprayplate, switch the water back on at the isolating switch and direct the hose and showerhead to waste. Turn the cold water control knob to maximum flow. This operation will flush out any loose scale deposits in the unit and showerhead. Stop after about thirty seconds. Refit the sprayplate by screwing clockwise. Use the tool to screw the sprayplate tight.
