Introduction What you will see is just a small top of the ice rock of my works in landscape architecture. First part represents my academic qualities in doing landscape research. In complex cases like my master thesis project extensive research is required. Research based design Second part shows my professional experience in designing from concept towards a constructable design. In any project practical know-how and a keen eye for detail are required. Designing to the detail My latest work is the ambitious competition entry for the Yinggeshi area Large-scale masterplanning Since my graduation I am also working on the smallest of garden design Designing for the most personal level My ambition is to improve my visualisation skills and practical knowledge to deliver in any project a masterpiece of a design, both individually and as a team.
Research based design Mining town Malmberget Organization: Wageningen University Type: master thesis Companion: Jules Neefjes Completed: September 2015 Place: Gällivare and Malmberget (S) The town will make way for the mine. The challenge is to connect with the place, its history and surrounding nature. According to our interviews, landscape analyses, comparable design studies and literature research, the forced movement has a tremendous impact on the 1600 households of Malmberget, but there are opportunities to meet their concerns. Tutor: ir. Paul Roncken polar circle Malmberget 1000 mi Wageningen 1. The location of Malmberget, in the sparsely dramatic route inhabited region of Northern Sweden. nostalgic route 0,5 mi 2. The design answers with green corridors to increase the neighbourhoods accessibillity to the surrounding nature areas (3). The routes follow the streams, cross swamps and climb the sunny southern sides of the hills (4). Two routes connect with the town s location and its history. A dramatic route is about the town that had to move for the mine (5). Pillars symbolize the mining tunnels and rubble at the sides are the remains of the town. The second route depicts the nostalgic remembrance of the charming town that Malmberget used to be (6). A flourishing linear park on both sides of the road with a classic style of lighting and white garden fences. 6. 5.
Designing to the detail Company: WES LandschaftsArchitektur Type: internship Completed: december 2013 Headquarters Campus, Hongqioa Working on challenging projects at an internationally operating office in collaboration with architects. The first sketch of the landscape plan by Michael Kaschke, my tutor and partner landscape architect of WES Landschaftsarchitektur. My elaboration of the sketch in AutoCAD for the competition. On day 1 I was invited for joining a competition at the architect office of Gerkan, Marg and Partner (GMP). With only a few photographs Michael Kaschke and I were introduced to the place; a messy industrial area in between the endless apartment block neighbourhoods of shanghai, the location for hongqioa s new headquarters campus. Based on the urban plan (1) and Kaschke s sketch (2) I sketched the theme squares and the central park axis. After revision I had only a few days to digitalize it (3). The architects built a 3D model based on my plan and sections. The clear urban plan and the angular water banks were much appreciated by the commissioner and we won the competition. 6.

After about a month the phase of pre-design was opened. And it was my responsibility to make the changes asked by the comissioner and the architects for feasibility reasons. The water in the park axis is changed by a sunken garden, because water would be too expensive. The green patches on the promenade are shrunken to make way for fire engines. And there were some changes for graphic and/or aesthetic reasons. Furthermore, I built a brochure with many elaborations like the planting plan and the light plan. 7.

A stretched flower meadow where the flower coulours change and hedges follow the length, as a stream. The pavement is elaborated by size and grid. The construction details are drawn according to completed projects of WES. By this competition I learned insights about the practical aspects of a project and the logic in designing. Also learning to work with AutoCAD in combination with Photoshop. By learning this it was easy to work on the many other projects of WES. 2d. 8.

September > October > November > December 2013 ] After the competition the ceo and co-founder Hinnerk Wehberg invited me to build his one hour presentation. Because of my graphic skills, I was favored to contribute to many projects in china and germany, like south bund of shanghai, a pavilion in volkswagen s autostadt, city beach in bremen and much more. 9.

Designing for the most personal level Garden Designs Company: Gilles Grafisch Tuinontwerp Type: cooperative garden design A garden is like an outdoor living room. The challenge is to visualize personal dreams and aesthetics in feasible designs 1 yd 1a. 1 yd 1b. 1 yd 2. 1a. 2. 1b. 1a. A small garden in rectangular composition creating a robust character. 1b. As a freelance garden designer I cooperate with established landscapers. I contribute with my graphic skills to bring garden design to a higher level. To convince the client that the smallest garden can become a small paradise in front of the house, advanced visualization is decisive. It enables landscapers to try new design formulas without being limited to completed projects and trends as references for their design. 3D modelling gives the best impression of space and with rendering the garden comes to life. 12.
