Bluejack Builders Home Office St. Paul
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The homeowners, two business professionals who both operate out of their house, needed a shared space, equipped with two individual areas that could also accommodate the separation and storage needed for their respective business dealings. In addition, this new office needed to simultaneously accommodate the homeowners daughter with any of her study and school project needs. The new office area posed some challenges; the space needed to be located directly off the front door and foyer area, which located it on the first floor where space came at high premium in the interests of the overall plan design. The challenge of an already small space, combined with the challenge of blending a large window into the design, and very specific needs for how the homeowners needed to use the space, were critical elements in the overall concept of the newly designated space. Bluejack Builders precision driven design allowed for the small office to hinge on two focal points. The first being the integration of the magnificent window and the second, most important to the space, was the overall design of the custom built in desk. The integration of the window was planned well in advance by Bluejack Builders, which allowed for the large size window to be properly positioning with the height of the window sill to be built into the finely inlayed desk top. The design of the desk stretches and wraps along two walls of the room providing two individual work stations, one having a built in spot for a desktop computer, and built-ins offering two individual drawers, and one filing cabinet. The second work station had a built in spot for a desktop computer, but also built-ins for two drawers and three filing cabinets. A matching set of upper cabinetry is composed of two large symmetrical cabinets divided by a center space with open shelves. Bluejack Builders designed the desk to include the ability to hide wires and cords, and created valuable extra leg room space. The desk cabinetry is all finely stained cherry wood, with the desk top being natural cherry wood, inlayed with a natural walnut and maple wood, and an applied heavy duty clear coat. The door to the office off the foyer is a single clear glass panel door, offering just enough sound privacy that a shared home office needs.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: continued The homeowners were given a comfortable two person office directly off their front entry with large open windows that is a delight to be in. With the massive window built into the desktop, the homeowners receive incredible sunlight and great views of the front yard and of approaching guests and clients. The incredible beauty of the desk creates a truly memorable and unique piece to anchor this home office for decades to come. With the comfort and practicality of this new space also came the incredible design and craftsmanship by Bluejack Builders.
