Why does the space need better lighting?? Although the space has adequate lighting for card playing, a more impressive and exciting lighting plan would be more indicative of what guests have come to expect from a Las Vegas Casino The Poker area at the South Point is in need of a more visually appealing lighting plan to be executed in the current space.
The space is currently no more interesting than a normal business conference room http://www.msnairport.com/img/tour_conference_room_large.jpg
Current materials used in the space: The few number of different materials used has led to a monotonous space Carpet Wallpaper Wood accents on pony wall
There is currently only one layer of lighting in the space: 2 x2 T8 s and recessed compact fluorescent cans in the 2 x4 ceiling grid. Proposal: Introduce a layer of decorative focal lighting Introduce a layer of task lighting Introduce a layer of ambient lighting
Decorative Focal Lighting: Providing an eye catching dropped ceiling might actually draw you to the space, instead of accidentally walking by on your way to the movie theater Walking towards movie theater escalators Coming down movie theater escalators
Decorative Focal Lighting: The space would benefit by being more defined as an area, instead of looking like an afterthought in an open area of space. This can be achieved in many ways by simply utilizing another layer of a drop ceiling system that screens the current ceiling grid system. Example of a ribbon-like curved drop ceiling system that would add character and interest to the current unnoticeable space. http://www.usgdesignstudio.com/curvatura.asp
Decorative Focal Lighting layer used in the space:
Task Lighting: Poker Information Desk A decorative pendant chandelier would provide much needed task lighting at the poker information desk, and a style such as the one above would help blend the space seamlessly with the décor of the rest of the casino.
Ambient Lighting: South Point Hotel and Casino Continuing the iron theme with accent wall sconces will add character to the bland side walls. Adding post lights at each entrance, with textured glass panels in between will help define the space while adding visual interest to the area.
New lighting scheme combined: The result of the lighting change is a more intimate, visually appealing space that hints at the Las Vegas lavish style
