The idea for Independent Products (IP) was born in 2008 from a previous services only based business. A business that provided energy auditing and energy contracts to industrial and commercial clients across Australia. It was recognised as part of these audits that there was a need to supply a broad range of energy efficiency devices to assist in saving the clients time and money. These results were based on an audit conducted to the Australian standards. The business targeted the specific needs to improve the client s bottom line and operational expenses. From this experience we undertook research into a range of energy efficient products that could deliver an outcome cost effectively. In air conditioning however we were limited in the available technology for energy efficieny, and limited scope to deliver on cost effective air conditioning though it accounted for a large portion of our clients energy bill. This was the case until early 2010 where we found an emerging technology of Solar Hybrid Air Conditioning. We contacted the patent holding manufacturer in order to work with them and develop an Australian specific design for Australian conditions. Over the years we have refined the base product to produce the widest range available in the Australian market today. SOLAR HYBRID AIR CONDITIONERS INTRODUCTION Air conditioning contributes significant costs to Australian household s power usage. Solarshop has now become the exclusive distributor of Independent Products Australia. Solarshop has teamed up to deliver cutting edge solar hybrid air conditioning technology to dramatically reduce the overall running costs of your air conditioning system when compared to conventional split system air conditioners. Conventional air conditioning systems utilise gases to operate, however conventional air conditioning systems lose large quantities of energy required to generate cool or warm air. Solarshop Solar hybrid air conditioning uses a combination of thermal energy from the sun, and standard mains electricity to deliver outstanding heating and cooling results by heating the refrigerant to ensure greater compressor efficiency. WHAT S BEST... WATER OR GLYCOL?» Water Technology - Standard The solar thermal panel requires water in the head unit to ensure there is a buffer to any changes to ambient air temperatures. Usually the installer will take the condensate return line and fix this to the inlet valve to maintain water levels after the initial injection of water. Though as part of ongoing maintenance to the unit you would need to check this water level on a regular basis (each three months).» Glycol Technology - The latest and the greatest Same great brand, specifically designed for Australian conditions. The core to the generation 2 range is that the solar thermal panel head unit only requires a one off injection of organic based Glycol. Use of the Glycol substantially reduces maintenance time and costs ensuring that the liquid jacket that acts as the buffer to quick temperatures changes but without the need to check the liquid levels. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS» How does it work? The Solar Hybrid Air Conditioner functions using a combination of solar assistance and conventional mains to heat the refrigerant (R410A) to assist the compressor in the outdoor unit and condenser. Heat is collected through a solar thermal collector with the ambient air temperature and is transferred to the refrigerant gas in an effective heat exchange process. This supplementary energy source reduces both the amount of work the compressor has to do and for how long it needs to run. The workload of the compressor is reduced and savings of approximately 35% to 65%* in electricity consumption is attained dramatically reducing running costs.» Does the solar panel produce electricity? The solar panel does not produce electricity but rather acts as a heat exchange.» Does the solar panel need direct sunlight shining on it? No. The solar panel operates efficiently in shade or direct sunlight as it draws ambient air temperature.» Can the solar panel be retrofitted to an existing air conditioner? No. The compressors used are specifically designed and manufactured for the solar hybrid air conditioning system. All our main components are Japanese manufactured.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS» Quality The Solarshop range of products utilise Japanese manufactured Mitsubishi Electric or Toshiba compressor types specifically designed for our Hybrid system. Japanese manufactured control gear is also used internally. The solar panel is manufactured in China with the components assembled at our factory based in China. The factory operates under ISO 9001 standards and we employ our own QC team in addition to in-house QC checks for each of our purchase orders.» Compliance A CE compliant product, MEPS accreditation on Single Head units is complete. MEPS compliance is not required for other AC units in the range. Solar energy is used to superheat the refrigerant which enables the refrigerant to change at the top 66.6% of the condenser coil. Using this method reduces the heat process required to achieve the cooling level in a conventional cooling system. A conventional air conditioning system changes less of the gas into liquid state therefore when the refrigerant enters into the system it is as saturated vapour.
