Main Tasks/Accountabilities Approx % of working time spent Provide professional advice on all tree and landscape matters relating to Tree Preservation Orders, Conservation Areas, planning applications and conditions. Includes determining applications to carry out work on protected trees and trees situated within Conservation Areas. etermination of Formal notices made under the High Hedges Legislation (2005) and Hedgerow Act (1997). Inspection and surveying of trees for inclusion in appropriate Tree Preservation Orders. Inspection of Council-owned trees, including preparation of work schedules and plans. Generating plans and data for the serving of new Tree Preservation Orders and dealing with enquiries when new Orders have been made. 70% 20% Monitoring of Tree Preservation Order decisions and trees on development sites. nforcement of planning conditions and replacement tree planting notices and landscape schemes. nsure compliance with statutory legal obligations, safety requirements and Council Policies in relation to trees. Prepare Council statements and provide evidence at planning inquiries and informal hearings on appeals against Tree Preservation Order decisions and the making of new Tree Preservation Orders, to ensure the provision of professional advice on arboricultural issues arising from planning applications. In order to deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is needed and the post-holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Involvement able to work in partnership with others both within the authority and in outside agencies to ensure that both the team and departmental service needs are met in a timely fashion. xperience: Relevant experience in the arboricultural, landscape, forestry or similar environment-based industry. xperience of working within local government in an advisory capacity dealing with tree and landscape issues xperience of dealing with the public, contractors, developers and planning agents xperience of tree/site inspections.
