1. Introduction The Cm Pelet-set (rated thermal output of the burner 14 kw and 20 to 35 kw) produced by Centrometal d.o.o. is aimed to be connected to combined boilers or to boilers for biomass firing, EKO-CK and EKO-CKB boilers (nominal heat power from 20 to 40 kw). This technical manual contains basic information about the products, their technical characteristics and instructions for proper use and maintenance of single components. Integral parts of the Cm Pelet-set are constructed according to the modern technology and design, made out of proved and properly tested high quality materials. Assemblage and start up of the Cm Pelet-set has to be carried out by the person authorized on behalf of the manufacturer. 2. Delivery status 1. pellet burner CPPL-14 or CPPL-35 2. lower boiler door CPDV 3. boiler regulation CPREG 4. feeder screw CPPT 5. pellet tank CPSP 2.1. Pellet burner CPPL Pellet burner CPPL-14 (rated thermal output 14 kw, for boilers EKO-CK 20, EKO-CKB 20) and CPPL-35 (rated thermal output 20-35 kw, for boilers EKO-CK 25-40 and EKO-CKB 25-40) contains high quality components and is made out of tested materials. Inside the burner there is a heavy duty fan which, with help of a particular formed burner grid, supplies a fire as any other classical burner. Besides the fan inside the burner, there is also an electric heater which, with help of the regulation system, automatically and according to the need, fires the wooden pellets. The build in photoelectric cell is used to detect the presence of fire inside the burner. Particular form of the combustion chamber of the burner enables good mixing of the air and the fuel, which results is a highly effective burning process. Burner CPPL-14 has additional ceramic extension which is used to improve the efficiency of the combustion. Depending of the burner functioning phase varies the fan circulation speed, which means the air supply to the burner. The burner is aimed to be connected to the lower boiler door CPDV, fixed to the prepared opening. The burner is previred, so it can be easily connected to the boiler regulation CPREG. 2.2. Lower boiler door CPDV Delivery of the pellet burner CPPL includes also the lower boiler door CPDV with an opening adapted to the burner (beside when is delivered boiler with Cm Pelet set, then the lower boiler door CPDV are already installed on the boiler). The standard boiler door has to be removed and replaced by the delivered one, i.e. CPDV to which the pellet burner can be connected. 2.3. Boiler regulation CPREG The sophisticated digital boiler regulation CPREG steers the burner according to the need of heating and sanitary water consumption. The characteristics of the boiler regulation CPREG are: microprocessor regulation, bimetal safety thermostat, safety pressure switch, fires and turns off the burner according to the set up temperature and functioning regime, regulates the pellet supply through the feeder screw, functioning according to the summer or winter regime, anti-condensation protection of the boiler, display of the boiler status, malfunction display, sensor for the boiler and sensor for the sanitary water are included. Hereafter there is a detailed description of the functioning and setting up of single parameters. 2.4. Feeder screw CPPT From the tank to the burner, the pellets are transported by means of the feeder screw CPPT. In the feeder screw tube there is a spiral, which with help of an electric motor with reductor transports the pellets from the tank to the burner through a flexible tube. The electric motor is previred, so that it can be easily connected to the socket on the right side of the boiler regulation CPREG. If the electric 3

power cable is damaged, the substitution is to be done on behalf of the authorized person, in order to avoid possible damaging of persons and technical equipment. 2.5. Pellet tank CPSP The pellet tank CPSP has to be situated on the right side next to the boiler. After laying the tank, the feeder screw has to be connected to it. Before loading the tank the door situated on its top has to be opened and it has to be checked if inside there are some solid objects or other material. The assemblage of the pellet tank is described in the pellet set assemblage manual. 3. 4. Cm Pelet-set assemblage Assemblage and start up of the Cm Pelet-set has to be carried out by the person authorized on behalf of the manufacturer. a) remove the lower boiler door and mount the lower boiler door CPDV delivered together with the Cm Pelet-set (if lower boiler door is not already installed on the boiler). b) onto the already prepared screws on the boiler door setup the burner nozzle, then the pellet loader box and screw with M8 nut (attached). Place the seal onto the loader box and fix the loading tube (fix with M4x15 screws (attached)). Remove the cover of the bimetal safety thermostat which is situated on the loading tube, connect wires and put on the cover. The PVC and silicone made tube, which is connected to the pressure switch, is to be settled onto the prepared connection point, which is situated on the lower left side of the boiler door. At the end the protection box has to be put onto the prepared screws and fixed. Mount of the ceramic nozzle (only for CPPL-14) c) only for the burner CPPL-14: after the lower door is closed, through the upper door adjust the ceramic extension on the handle which is placed on the burner nozzle (right picture). d) on the upper boiler casing there has to be made two holes with an distance of 355mm. The boiler regulation CPREG has to be fixed with delivered screws 3,9 x 9,5mm. The safety thermostat sensor and the regulation sensor have to be inserted into the tube for sensors on the boiler. The cables have to be connected with connectors to the pellet burner. e) according to the technical instructions for the assemblage of the pellet tank and feeder screw establish the connection to the pellet tank CPSP and place it to the right side just next to the boiler in horizontal position. Flatten the bottom of the tank with the bottom of the boiler and flatten the front side of the tank with the front side of boiler casing. f) the feeder screw for loading pellets with electric motor CPPT is to be fixed to the prepared opening situated in lower right corner of the tank and connected to burner CPPL with the flexible feeder screw tube. One end of the flexible tube put on the burner (on the supply tube) to lid of the bimetal thermostat, and the other end on the transporter hand so the tube do not fall off. The flexible tube have to be as straight as possible between the transporter and the burner so the pellets can easily fall down from the transporter to the burner (in case that the pellets are retain in the flexible tube it is necessary to straight the tube or if it is possible reduce its length). g) the wire for electric power of the feeder screw CPPT connect to the socket situated on the right side of the boiler regulation CPREG. h) the boiler regulation has to be connected to the electric net, NOT THROUGH THE THERMOSTAT built into the boiler. 5. Safety The burner has three safety mechanisms: - Bimetal thermostat which is connected to the burner pellet supply tube. In case of overstepping the set up temperature (75 C), the pellet supply shall be blocked, the burner 5

goes to fire extinction phase the boiler regulation display shows the error E3 (signal LED diode ). - Pressure switch built into the burner steers the excess pressure inside the combustion chamber of the boiler. In case of overstepping the set up pressure inside the combustion chamber the pressure switch stops the pellet supply and the burner goes to fire extinction phase the regulation display shows the error E1 (signal LED diode ). - In case there is no fire inside the combustion chamber the built in photoelectric cell sends the signal to the boiler regulation which stops the pellet supply and the display shows the error E6 (signal LED diode ). The safety thermostat, built into the boiler regulation turns off the electric power supply when the boiler temperature exceeds 115 C - 10 C. The flexible tube which connects the pellet burner with the feeder screw is made out of plastic materials strengthen by a metal wire which, in case the fire comes out of the burner, shall be burned and dissolved. This unable that the fire passes to the pellet tank. 6. Fuel The fuel used for firing the boilers with connected Cm pelet-set is wood pellets. Pellet is a kind of biologic fuel, produced out of wood scrap. It can be stocked in 15 kg sacks or in bulk (4-15 m³ tanks). Bulk pellet tanks can be situated under the ground or in the house cellar. Recommended characteristics of the pellet for firing in the Cm Pelet-set are: - heating value >= 5 kwh/kg (18 MJ/kg) - diameter = 6 mm - max. length = 35 mm - max. humidity = 8% - max. dust = 0,5% - 3 m 3 pellets matches the value of cca. 1000 litres of fuel oil 2 kg pellets matches the value of cca. 1 litre of fuel oil 7. Boiler regulation Boiler regulation is delivered inside the plastic coated metal box for connecting to the boilers EKO-CK and EKO-CKB (nominal thermal output from 20 to 40 kw). O FF 08:42 1 0 7.1. Regulation of the burner functioning parameters only for authorized persons If there is a need for fine regulation of the burner, there is a possibility to establish certain parameters, which influence its functioning. Fine tuning of the voltage on the fan for the wanted capacity of the burner can be done during the operation of the burner. When burner achieve the wanted capacity (after approximately 30 min from the fireing) it is able to fine tune the voltage of the burner fan by pushing the micro switches S2 = + and S3 = - (it is positioned below the lid of the boiler regulation). After the burner is tuned (according the analyses of the flue gases) it is necessary to remember the new tuned parameter. To save this new parameter it is necessary to turn off the burner and obligatory, this new fine tuned voltage, write down into the regulation on the way as it is described in the next paragraph. In order to approach these parameters it is necessary to turn off the burner, on regulation must be OFF and current time and then enter the menu entering code for protected parameters. First the cover of the regulation has to be opened and keep pressed the switch S1 together with following combination of buttons: (-), (winter), (screw), (+), (summer). Entering the menu of protected parameters through pressing the S1 button (numbers and meaning of each parameters see in table Fine regulation parameters overview ), we are choosing the desired parameter, while with the micro switches S2 and S3 we are changing the value of the chosen parameter (S2 = +, S3 = -). Position of the micro switch S1, S2, S3. Further on there is a table with single parameters with factory setup values and possible range of setting. Switch on the boiler regulation to the el. power supply and turn on the main switch to the value 1. Check if the upper display shows OFF and the lower display the current time. 4. Disconnect the flexible tube for pellet supply from the burner and put a pot under the tube. Press the button for pellets supply and keep pressing it until the feeder screw is filled up, i.e. until the pellets start to come out from the tube (depending of the pellet size it can take 5 to 10 minutes). Instead of pressing the pellet supply button the electric motor can be activated by connecting the 230 V electric power supply until the pellets start to come out from the tube. 5. Connect the flexible tube for pellet supply back to the burner (connect the pellet supply electric motor wire to the socket on the boiler regulation - if it has previously been disconnected). 6. Select winter or summer firing regime, according to your needs. 7. Select burner operation parameters by pressing the SET button (meaning and selection of the parameters has been described in the previous chapter). 8. Exit the burner operation parameter setup mode by shortly pressing the button. 9. Keep the button ON/OFF pressed for 3 seconds until the On appears on the upper display. This means that the burner started the firing phase. 10. The fire shall appear after 3 to 10 minutes (depending on the burner temperature and on the quality of the pellet). 11. Depending of the selected operation regime on the factory preset temperature the pumps shall be activated: - winter regime: the heating pump and the sanitary water pump shall be activated at 65 C; - summer regime: sanitary water pump shall be activated at 65 C. 12. During the normal burner operation, the current water temperature is shown on the upper display, while the lower display shows the current time. 13. When the burner reaches its setup power (after about 8 to 12 minutes, according to the setup value) the analysis of the flue exhaust gases has to be done and, if necessary, the parameters of the burner have to be set up precisely. This can be done only on behalf of the authorized person. 8.2. Fire extinction procedure: Keep pressing the ON/OFF button for 3 seconds, until the upper display does not show the ''OFF''. In this moment the pellet supply is blocked, the upper display shows the current water temperature inside the boiler, the lower display shows OFF, the fan is still functioning so long the fire is completely extinct. After that the fan operates for some time and clean the grid. 12

9. Functioning of the regulation 9.1. Firing phase After pressing the ''ON/OFF'' button for 3 seconds the upper display shows shortly ''On'' and after that the current boiler temperature, while the lower display shows the current time. On the regulation is activated the LED diode which shows the fan activity which cleans the burner (30 sec.). After that time pellet supply is activated, as well as the el. heater. The starting pellet supply (independently of the setup boiler, i.e. burner capacity) takes 80 seconds. The heater continues to operate (from the beginning of the pellet supply the safety time is running, which takes 12 minutes. If in this period the fire does not appear, the firing process shall be interrupted and the display shows the error ''E2''.). After the pellet supply has been interrupted (after 80 sec.), the heater continues the operation and the regulation starts to follow the functioning of the photoelectric cell. If the photoelectric cell registers the fire inside the safety time period (12 minutes), the heater continues to operate for another 30 seconds and then cease its function. After the photoelectric cell has detected the fire, the regulation checks for 10 seconds if the fire is stable and then activate the indication about the fire presence in the burner. From this moment on the time of 3 minutes starts to run, i.e. the time which pellets needs to start burning properly. 9.2. Transition phase After the pellets started to burn properly (3 min.), starts the transition phase of the burner functioning in which its power increases until it reaches the setup power level. In this period the good quality base for further proper burning of the pellets has been prepared. 9.3. Operation phase After the transition phase of the burner has been accomplished, the regulation switches on the preset capacity functioning and it continues to operate according to the preset parameters (i.e. with the setup power). Winter regime operating : The regulation follows the boiler temperature and, if there is a need for heating and sanitary water and the boiler temperature has reached 65 C, the heating pumps and the sanitary water pumps shall be activated (if the sanitary water is enabled). If the boiler temperature falls under 65 C the pumps shall be deactivated. If the boiler reaches the temperature of T set 4 C, the regulation decreases power of the boiler for 2 degrees; if the temperature continues to increase and reach the T set 2 C, the regulation decreases the power of the boiler for another 2 degrees. When the boiler reaches the temperature T set the burner turns to the extinction phase. If the boiler has reached the temperature T set 4 C, and it can not reach the temperature T set 2 C in 3 minutes, the burner shall turn to the setup power. When the boiler reaches the temperature T set 2 C, the regulation decreases the power of the burner for 2 degrees. If in this regime the boiler does not reach the temperature T set 2 C in 3 minutes, the burner turns to the setup power and at the temperature of T set it turns to the extinction phase. The burner newly activates when the boiler temperature falls under T set 5 C. Summer regime operating : In order the regulation could properly operate in the summer regime, it has to be switched on the summer regime. The sanitary water sensor has to be connected on regulation panel to connector I2 and the program Pr02 has to be enabled. In the Pr02 program the desired sanitary water temperature has to be setup (40 C 60 C) and the setup boiler temperature T set shall be setup according to the T needed sanitary + 20 C (min. boiler temperature T set. is 65 C). The sanitary water pump shall be activated and deactivated always on min. 65 C of the boiler temperature. The burner operates according to the setup regime until it does not reach the temperature of T needed sanitary + 20 C 4 C temperature, when the regulation decreases the power of the burner for 2 degrees. If the temperature continues to grow and reaches T needed sanitary + 20 C 2 C, the regulation newly decreases power of the burner for 2 degrees. When the boiler reaches the temperature of T needed sanitary + 20 C, the burner turns to the extinction phase. If the boiler has reached the temperature T needed sanitary + 20 C 4 C, but it can not reach the T needed sanitary + 20 C 2 C in 3 minutes, the burner turns to the setup power. When the boiler 13

reaches the temperature T needed sanitary + 20 C 2 C, the regulation decreases the power of the burner for 2 degrees. If in this regime the boiler does not reach the T needed sanitary + 20 C temperature, the burner turns to the setup power and at temperature of T needed sanitary + 20 C, the burner turns to the extinction phase. The burner shall be newly activated when the temperature in the boiler falls under T needed sanitary + 20 C 5 C. 9.4. Extinction phase The burner goes into the extinction phase when the setup boiler temperature has been reached, when manually extinction of the burner by pressing the button ON/OFF has been done and when automatic extinction according to the activating times has been done, as well as if the error appears. At the beginning of the extinction phase, the pellet supply shall be stopped, the display shows OFF, the fan operates as long as the photoelectric cell registers the fire inside the burner. When the fire has been extinct, the fan operates for another 2 minutes, in order to clean the grid and prepare it for next firing. 9.5. Activating time operation The regulation has the possibility to switch on and off the burner automatically, according to the preset weekly and daily program. The postulate for the proper burner operation with activating times is exactly setup current time and exactly setup current day of the week. The burner operation can be planned in every day of the week with three firing and three extinctions per day. By factory setup all activating times are deactivated. Activating of each activating time is described in the chapter Regulation of burner function parameters. In order to achieve regular and proper burner operating the minimum stand by time between two activating times is 1 hour. 9.6. Overheat protection The regulation has the build in overheat protection function, which protects the boiler against the overheating. Depending on operating regime (switched on winter or summer regime), independently on needs, the regulation activates the pumps which starts to cool down the boiler. In the winter regime, when the boiler exceeds the T set + 5 C temperature, independently on the heating need, the boiler pump shall be activated until the boiler temperature does not reach the level below T set + 5 C. In the summer regime, when the boiler exceeds the T needed sanitary + 20 C + 5 C temperature, independently on sanitary water need, the sanitary water pump shall be activated until the boiler temperature does not reach the level below T needed sanitary + 20 C + 5 C. 10. Errors Independently on the burner operating regime, due to appearing of the error, the regulation immediately stops the burner activity. If the regulation is in the firing phase and the fire has not appeared yet, the pellet supply immediately stops, the fan and heater as well. If the regulation is in the phase of normal operating, the process of burner extinction phase shall be initiated. On the upper display there is the signal Err, while on the lower one appears the error description. Error description: - E1 safety pressure switch (signal LED diode ) - E2 safety firing time run out - E3 bimetal thermostat (signal LED diode ) - E4 boiler temperature sensor - E5 sanitary water temperature sensor - E6 fire disappearance in the photoelectric cell 14

E e 4 In order to enable the regulation to operate normally, the error has to be removed and the same has to be reset on the regulation. The error reset is done by the contemporaneously pressing the buttons winter and summer together with contemporaneous pressing the button ''+''. If the cause of the error has not been removed, the error itself can not be reset. 11. Connection to the electric power net The condition for the disconnection of poles has to be installed according to the local law regulation. The fuses 3,15A, 1,35A and 125A are mounted on to the regulation box. The fuse 1A is mounted on the electronic regulation panel. After connection of the regulation connector to the burner connector, screw the connector to the burner body. ELECTRICAL REGULATION SHEME ELECTRICAL SHEME OF THE BURNER 15

12. Maintenance of the Cm Pelet-set It is recommended to clean the burner together with the combustion chamber of the boiler after 25 to 50 operating hours. According to the needs the cleaning intervals can be prolonged and reduced, which depends on the pellet quality and firing frequency of the burner. Every 5 to 10 days check: - the quantity of ashes in the ashtray and clean it; - sediments in the boiler combustion chamber and clean it if necessary; - sediments on the burner grid and clean it if necessary Two times in one year accurately check/clean following components: - clean well the burner and grid; - clean well the photoelectric cell; - clean the fan; - empty and clean the pellet set; - check the flexible connection tube and if necessary tighten it; - check the electrical wires and connections and if necessary exchange them. The annual check has to be performed by the person authorized on behalf of the producer.
