INTRODUCTION PoolPak dehumidifiers equipped with the CommandPak Control System for PoolPak SWHP (CPCS-SWHP) can be directly connected to a BACnet MS/TP based Building Automation System (BAS). Based on Carel s pconet serial card, the interface allows connection to an RS-485 network. 80 control points, including all basic information and set points for the PoolPak dehumidification system, are available through the interface. BACnet Configuration Parameters The BACnet configuration parameters for the controller are accessed in the configuration menu. To access this menu: 1. Press the I button on the RIU (Esc on the CM1 module). 2. Enter the password 9995. 3. Use the arrow keys to scroll down to the following parameters. 062. BAUDRATE Sets the baud rate for the onboard serial port. It must be set to 19200 for use with the BACnet interface. 19200 is the factory default setting for this parameter. Note that this is the baud rate of the internal serial interface between the BACnet board and the PoolPak controller. The baud rate of the BACnet MS/TP connection is set with a utility program from Carel. See the Interface Card Field Setup and Configuration section of this document for more information. BAS Addr Sets the address of the BACnet interface card in the serial slot of the controller. It must be set to 1 for proper operation of the BACnet interface. The factory default setting is 1. LonWorks Inst Sets the type of BAS interface board installed in the control module, CM1. It must be set to NO for use with a BACnet interface. Note that this is the internal serial address of the BACnet board. The station address for the BACnet MS/TP network is set with a utility program from Carel. See the Interface Card Field Setup and Configuration section of this document for more information. Ser Port Proto Sets the protocol the control module will use with the installed BAS board. It must be set to RS485 for use with a BACnet interface. 4. After changing any of the above parameters, reboot the controller by cycling power with the unit control power switch. This switch is located within or adjacent to the main control panel of the dehumidifier. PHYSICAL NETWORK CONNECTION The three wire RS-485 connection is located on the pconet interface card. The pconet card occupies the serial card slot in the CM1 control module. This control module is located in the main control panel of the ComPak dehumidifier. Be sure to observe proper network polarity when making the connection to the BACnet network. The terminals on the pconet board are labeled clearly on the serial card cover. The RS-485 connection to the interface card should comply with standard installation practices. Use care to route the cable away from sources of interference and adhere to standard cable length and network topography restrictions for a BACnet 2017 PoolPak LLC. All rights reserved. Page 2

MS/TP network. The pconet board contains built-in termination resistors that can be enabled by jumpers P1, P2, and P3. The jumpers have the following functions: P1 Adds a 510 ohm resistor between the negative line and GND. P2 Adds a 120 ohm resistor between the positive and negative data lines. P3 Adds a 510 ohm resistor between the positive line and the +5VDC internal bus. The jumpers are all installed by default at the factory. In most installations, all three jumpers should be installed if the pconet board resides at either end of the RS-485 network. If instead, it is located between other nodes on the network, all three jumpers should be disconnected to disable the termination resistors. CONTROL POINTS MAPPING 80 objects are accessible through the BACnet interface. Set points, sensor values, and enumerated variables are shared as analog-value objects. Status information points are shared as binary-value objects. The interface card is pre-configured at the factory with a device instance number of 77000. To change this value, follow the instructions shown in the Interface Card Field Setup and Configuration section of this document. These limitations override the normal damper control routine under certain conditions. The present value of this object can be decoded as follows: 0 Normal Damper Limits Apply 1 Fire Trip Active All dampers closed. 2 Smoke Purge Active Exhaust damper 100% open, Outside and Recirc 0% Open 3 Unoccupied and No Dew Point Override Active Mixing Box Allowed to Close to 0% 4 Flywheel AC Mode Active Mixing Box Allowed to Open to 100% during Unoccupied 5 Outside Air Temperature Less Than 50 F Outside Air Damper Position Limited 6 Cooling Required and Compressor Running 7 Heating or Dehumidification and Compressor Running 8 Supply Temperature Less Than 40 F Mixing Box Forced to 0% Open 9 Heating and Outside Air Temperature Less Than Air Off Evaporator Temperature 10 System Startup Active Mixing Box Held at 0% Open COMPRESSOR SYSTEM MODE AV1022 and AV1023 are enumerated values indicating the operation mode of the corresponding compressor system. The present value for these objects can be decoded as follows: 0 Compressor Off 1 Air Heating Mode 3 Pool Water Heating Mode 4 Air Cooling Mode CHANGING A SET POINT Two analog value objects are allocated for each set point, a readable value and a writable value. To change a set point, set the present value of the writable object to the new set point value. Verify that the controller accepted the change by reading the value of the corresponding readable object. The controller applies limits to the set point values. If the BAS tries to set an inappropriate value, the readable object will show the min or max allowed value instead of the requested value. The BAS can detect this event by verifying the change in the readable object s present value. The following limits are applied by the controller: 2017 PoolPak LLC. All rights reserved. Page 6

Return Air Temperature: 75ºF 95ºF Return Air Humidity: 40% - 65% Pool Water Temperature: 75ºF - 95ºF Damper Position: 0% - 100% Set points for temperature are represented by integer values in degrees Fahrenheit. CONTROLLING OCCUPANCY MODE The BAS can control the dehumidifier s occupancy mode directly. This control overrides all internal schedules. To force occupied mode, set the ForceOcc object value to the On state and the ForceUnocc object value to the Off state. To force unoccupied mode, set the value of the ForceOcc object to Off and the ForceUnocc object to On. CONTROLLING PURGE MODE The BAS can control the dehumidifier s Purge mode directly. This control overrides all internal schedules and controls except for the freeze protection algorithm. To force purge mode, set the ForcePurge object value to the On state and the ForceNoPurge object value to the Off state. To force non-purge mode, set the value of the ForcePurge object to Off and the ForceNoPurge object to On. ACTIVE ALARM FLAG CONTROL The ActvAlarmPres binary value object indicates the status of the system alarm flag. This status corresponds to the red light inside the alarm button of the control module, CM1. When the present value of this object is On, there is an uncleared alarm present in the controller. To clear the alarm flag, set the ActvAlarmPres object value to Off. If there are no active alarms present, the value of ActvAlarmPres will change to Off. If there are still active alarms present, the value of ActvAlarm will remain On. To determine the actual alarm condition, the BAS can examine the present value of the ActvFault objects. These enumerated values indicate the most significant active fault code. See the Compressor Active Fault Code section earlier in this document for a list of possible states. INTERFACE CARD FIELD SETUP AND CONFIGURATION The CM1 controller provides a the ability to change any of these settings. To make a change: 1. Press and hold the! (Alarm) and (Enter).
